Golf IV / Jetta IV :: How To Test Radiator Temperature Sensor For Faults
Feb 1, 2016
Any way to test the radiator temp sensor for faults? My radiator fans arent kicking on, and my car will get upto 215f on the drive to work. I am also going to replace the thermostat and test my radiator fans and relay today, but I have no idea how to test the sensor.

Looking at my circle track car when they told me my air intake temperature sensor was missing this is a picture online I found: [URL] ....
The hole is filled with a bolt and some epoxy. I don't see where the cable is for it. What will this do to my car? It is a track only car.

I drive a 2001 Jetta with the 2.8 v6 with ~125k miles
So for a while my car was giving me a false read on my temperature so I replaced the sensor. I actually followed instructions from a thread on this site. [URL] ....
Now when I go to drive my car, it runs sluggish and misfires if I really give it some gas. CEL is on(however does not return a code when hooked to a computer), and flashes when gassed hard.
I've checked to make sure spark plug wires were reconnected correctly and securely. No leaking has occurred from the temp sensor. shift rod drive unit is reconnected correctly.

I recently bought this golf and well gotta say very happy with it, W reg so 2000 model and it the 1.9 TDI SE variant, 29,000 miles and only one owner from new. But like many before me I have a air con issue.
So here's what I have looked at. Done the climatronic test with two error codes
04B6 Standing Time Signal
0318 Air Conditioner Pressure Switch
The blower works inside etc, but only blows warm air. I can hear the engine rev's change when I push the Econ button. So car is pretty mint but 15 years old, where should I start looking.

03 Jetta. The cruise has not been working. Turning cruise on and off works fine as light comes on on dash. Brake pedal switch was replace about a year ago, and I don't think that is the problem because when this was the car would actually go into limp mode.
Just checked the clutch pedal switch by jumping the plug (This was the blue switch lower on the pedal), and still no cruise function. I'm really leaning toward it being the "set" switch/button on the steering wheel as this just feels kinda broken. Did I test the clutch pedal switch correctly? Any other reason the cruise would stop working?

So I had an issue with the trans temp sender leaking out of the test port where it's installed. My first clue was a smell of ATF, then a high trans temp, and finally many, many spots on the driveway. Anyway, I discovered that either I lost the o-ring for the sender or it didn't come with one. Regardless, I got an o-ring and its sealed for the most part. There is still a drop or two under the truck after it has been running. How can I fully get rid of this issue? Would some RTV thread sealer do the trick?

Where the Coolant Temperature Sensor is located in the R32? Need to replace it. I searched but luck so far.

I just got a R32, but its missing the wiring for the side markers as well as the outside temperature sensor. My assumption is that both are in the same wiring harness and that harness starts at the corner of the radiator on the drivers side of the car.

So i decided to be a man and finish my 3.6vr in my gti project. Filled the coolant system with g13 and let the car run for a good half hour but the temperature only went to 130 degrees and would go back down to 120 and back to 130 and back and forth. With the heat turned on it was only slightly warm. Top hose was slightly hot and the bottom hose was just warm. So i tried massaging the hoses some more to let any air out and saw no bubbles. So i decided to go for a drive around the block and temps still stayed the same. So i'm leaning towards a thermostat but the motor was pulled out of a running passat with no problems.
Also its a brand new oem temp sensor

As it was such a matter of time, my fans on my 24v gave up during winter, no big deal as it was a pretty cold winter but now that spring is around the corner, I gotta fix this issue. To they change for the same OEM unit that will die in the next 30k miles.

I don't understand what is going on I noticed smoke coming from my fans radiator fans and I'm pretty sure that it was motor being fried I've gone to the junkyard and bought a used assembly hooked it up and still nothing could be a possibility that when the motor fried it fried the control module for the fans

I just replaced my radiator in my vr6 jetta. I've replaced my coolant before, with this same problem, but it never affected anything and did not find any answers. But here's the deal. It filled with about 2 gallons of mixed coolant. No noticeable air bubble sounds, coolant flows back into the reservoir. I opened my top rad hose and poured coolant in also. It is not overheating. My heater is also hot, no problems there. It just seems suspicious that my car takes so little coolant, and runs just fine. I also flushed the system with my garden hose, and let all the water drain out.

yesterday my upper radiator hose connector broke off and I replaced it filled it up with coolant and now the upper radiator hose gets really hot at normal temps while the lower hose is cold maybe and gets warm not hot or anything... I see some steam coming off the radiator but i think its all the coolant that splashed on it yesterday from the hose busting off and flooding it basically. the car does not overheat at idle or driving or anything so I am curious to what it could be

Radiator fans making tons of noise on my newly purchased gli jetta...

I could hear a rattling noise under the hood. The passenger side fan would appear to be off balance or the bearing most likely is going out in it. I am having trouble finding a replacement fan for it. Can I replace just that fan, or am I looking at a new cowl complete replacement? What is the part numbers or a link about these fans. It is the passenger side fan that is malfunctioning.

I have a 2003 Jetta 2.0L. I've noticed for the last few days that my engine temperature has been getting pretty high. We're going through a pretty intense heat wave where I live and that surely part of the problem but I've also noticed that two large fans at front of my car don't start up right away when I start the car. Is it supposed to be this way? Do they only kick in when the engine reaches a certain temperature?

A few days ago I was driving around. I get back in my car and when i turn it on no air blows and the radiator fans aren't working at all. My car hasn't overheated but have stopped driving until I can figure the issue out. I have since replaced the fuse box on top of the battery to no avail. I was thinking that it could possibly be the fan control module but in all the posts I am reading not one says that theirs don't work, they just keep running. So is there something else i should be looking at?
