So when I have the car running and I go to get back into the car, the dome lights do 1 of 3 things when I open the door. They either come on like normal, come on for a second and turn off, or don't turn on at all. I read something about a bad door lock module but it seemed like that was for earlier MK4s. I have an 03 jetta.
View 3 RepliesI just replaced the alternator on my car last week, and thought the electrical bugs were gone. Today, I tried to replace the two rear dome lights with LED bulbs. I removed the original bulb, put the new one in and noticed that it did not work...so I put the old one back in and noticed it was no longer working either (everything was fine before I took the old one out).
I then tried to turn on the dome/map lights by the rear view mirror, and those won't come on anymore either. I then tried to close the door and lock it with my key remote, but it also no longer functions. Even if I "manually" lock the doors from the inside (via the lock button on the door panel OR actually pressing the lock down into its hole) they just pop back up and won't lock. Obviously I do not want to leave my car like this as someone can now open it and get in... Does this problem sound like a blown fuse? If it doesn't sound like a blown fuse, what else could it be?
I don't know what is this.. Before 30 mins everything worked fine, I installed a new LED panel to the interior light centre and happened this!
The dome lights doesn't work with any door. Can be the relay?
I recently purchased my first car/jetta. When i switch the knob to turn on the instrument lights on my 2000 jetta the headlights don't come on. But when i turn the knob off the auto headlights turn on. Any insight on this? when i first got the car everything was working fine. It only started to happen after I replaced the radiator.
View 6 RepliesI have an 02 GTI w/ 1.8t and 5spd. I was in the drive through and all of the sudden the ABS, ASR, and seatbelt lights came on and the battery light is randomly blinking. I got home turned the car off and went to restart it and when I turn the key nothing happens. I should also mention I recently have 2 cels for p0171 lean condition and bank 1&3 misfires that developed after I replaced a bad injector. Where do I even start?

View 2 Replies2004 F-150. Today, I noticed the map/dome lights wouldn't turn off no matter what I did with the switch. Also noticed the cargo lights were on as well. Pulled fuse #24 (appears to be good) and that seemed to fix the problem: lights are now able to be controlled by the switch. When I reinstall fuse #24, same problem. Also, battery seemed to be drained and the radio pre-sets were gone. Am I right in suspecting the battery saver relay? If so, which relay is it and can I replace it myself or is it factory soldered?

View 6 RepliesIf I have the switch set for the lights to turn on when I open the doors, they don't turn off when the doors are shut they just stay on all of the time. Also, sometimes they don't work at all and sometimes they do. My 12v outlet doesn't work either but I am guessing it's the fuse..
View 2 RepliesI just bought a 2002 Jetta 1.8t today and have a few questions for some of you with vast knowledge on these cars.
1) When I lock the car the interior lights don't turn off, and about 5 seconds later the dash lights turn on. I sat outside in a lawn chair and waited 10 minutes to see if they would go off and they didn't. Would that be a faulty door switch or the CCM acting up?
2) Doing a 3" catless downpipe with 3" straight pipe?
3) Are there any major issues I should look out for? The car seems to be in pretty good mechanical condition, minus a loose exhaust hanger that rattles at idle. Not bad for 119,00 miles.
We are camping and I'd like to leave dogs in car with back doors open but I don't see a way to turn off the interior lights. There must be a way, right? In my Expedition we could turn the little button next to the headlights switch to adjust brightness in the controls and speedometer and turn all the way til it clicks for off but doesn't work here.
View 11 RepliesI have a 02 golf and it runs great other then the reoccurring problem i have been experiencing. The problem doesn't happen every time i drive my car, but often. When i drive for a short period of time and i park and go to turn the car off, all the lights on the dash flash on and off, and most of my things restart. Some times i will stop at a stop light or sign and the car will just restart and turn off. I know this maybe something very small.

View 14 RepliesEvery time I speed up or slow down my ABS, TC and parking brake lights turn on and my car beeps at me. I'm assuming that I have a wheel speed sensor going out. But when I check the codes there is nothing and the check engine light never turns on, so how do you tell which one to replace? Or is my problem something different? I drive a 1999.5 vr6 Jetta.
View 10 RepliesMy Jetta has had an off-and-on clicky turn signal sound without turn signals or hazard lights actually blinking. I put up with it for a while, but recently it's been more clicky than not. I'm aware this is a common problem. I had already tried the cleaner spray "trick" which made the problem worse if anything. Today, I removed my signal stalk as described here and gave it a cleaning. After re-assembling, the clicky problem didn't go away, and now the high beams are always on (even with the key out of the ignition, and the car isn't running). I temporarily dealt with this by pulling fuses 18 and 19 for high beams. It's an ok short-term workaround. Low beams still work fine.
I'm considering replacing the hazard signal relay, but a while ago I messed up while trying to use ghetto removal keys to pull my radio.
Interior lights will not turn off when parked. Probably related to this I commonly, but not always, get a door ajar indicator on the dash. But usually this is all temporary. And usually if i lock the truck with the fob, they shut off.Tonight the interior lights, as well as the bed light, stayed on. I looked at fuses to pull, but of all the fuses and relays, not one is listed as "interior lights" . So I disconnected the batteries and figure I'll tackle it tomorrow. 2003 F350 Lariat....
View 6 RepliesUpon installing LED interior lights in the dome lighting in my 2003 Jetta GL 5 Speed, my power door locks, power windows, interior lighting, and license plates lights no longer work. I looked at fuse 14 (the fuse associated with interior lighting) and it was not blown. I also tried replacing the LED lights with the lights I had removed while putting in the LEDs, and everything still does not work. Another thing to note is that during installation, the 3 lights in between the drive and passenger seats in the front worked when LEDs were inserted into them. It was not until I replaced the passenger side rear light with an LED that all of these malfunctions started to occur.

I would like to start off by saying I am new to this forum. I bought a 2005 Jetta GLI a couple of months ago and from the first day I noticed that occasionally when I would lock it with the alarm, the right turn signal would stay on. It was not much of a problem as I would just press the lock on the remote again a couple of times to turn it off. Lately it has become more frequent and annoying. I have to wait up to an hour so I can finally turn it off through the remote. I was thinking the relay probably.

I have 2006 Mercery Mariner and the dome lights come on while im driving, they will stay on for about 10 mins or longer. sometimes they will come on when i hit a bump in the road. They also flicker on and off, even when i hit the brakes. took it to a shop and they replaced the hatch switch and they checked all the other door switches but stiil didn't find the problem.
