Any tips and tricks on cleaning this? Just did an entire wash clay compound with orbital and a wax. Car looks great for a 12 year old but This area is a bit tricky clay gets stuck in the pores and nothing seems to clean it well. Id like to clay it but its not working well.
View 2 RepliesRecently I made a corrosion claim about some rust forming on my jetta. Long story short VWOA accepted to replace my passenger side fender and trunk, but refused to replace my passenger side rocker panel. Once all the warranty work is taken care of I would like to treat the rocker panel rust the best way possible. I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on this procedure, but I don't want there to be a hole in my car by next winter.
Personally I'm thinking of sanding it all down, treating the rust, applying some paint to it, and then trying to protect the area a little more by investing in OEM side skirts.
My 96 Dodge Intrepid has pretty rusted rocker panel on one side. The plastic covers are fine, the metal beneath them are in tough shape.
I would like to keep the car another year but not sure if I can pass inspection.
Someone suggested to me to look into replacement rocker panels that can be attached by an adhesive. He said he did this on his Chevy.
I took a quick look and could not find any for this car. Does not mean they are not out there. I just did not find them. Where to look?
Another person suggested I make some sheet metal brackets and attached the plastic covers and that should suffice. Easier said than done.
I've got a 2000 f150 4x4 extended cab, and the rocker panels under the doors are getting rust holes in them. I would like to get mine fixed/replaced this spring. My truck is in great shape other than the rust holes under the doors.

Unfortunately, I do not have a garage at my house and I need to prevent rust in the rocker panels and cab corners, the typical rust spots. Is it as simple as buying a can of 3m undercoat and spraying the inside of the panels? How to prevent rust?

View 5 RepliesA months or so ago, after turning off my car I noticed a loud buzzing noise coming from the drivers-side lower firewall area. I cranked the car up and the buzzing stopped immediately. The problem began as intermittent but now within 2 minutes of turning my car the buzzing noise always starts, and runs my battery dead! I have taken my car to 2 local shops that have good reputations and they both began guessing and throwing parts at the problem to no avail my last resort is a dealership but it is 100 miles away and I'm not sure if they would do any better. I feel like this is something simple that an expert should have no problem diagnosing.
I have been searching around the internet and never seem to find someone with the exact same problem - until today!

I've noticed this sound coming from the instrument panel area for a while now. It comes and goes, sometimes starts in the middle of driving, sometimes starts right when I start the car. It almost sounds like I have the turn signal on, but that's not it. There isn't much to see - the video is mainly so you can hear the sound.
View 13 RepliesI decided to take out the throttle body and clean it with throttle body cleaner that I got from autozone, after I put everything back, I started my car and the motor was shaking and smoking a lot out the muffler and just would not be drivable at all. the RPM was just going up and down and hesitating bad. later I took off the spark plugs and they were very much burnt black at the tips and that is probably not normal right? but I replaced them with NGK BKR7E spark plugs and it still gave me the problem.

Yesterday I decided to clean the MAF in my 01 VW Jetta 2.0, so without disconnecting the battery I unplugged and took the MAF sensor out and sprayed it using "CRC MAF sensor cleaner", let it dry for about 30 to 40 minutes and then re installed it. When I tried to start the car, I opened the ignition (ON position) and didn't hear the pump priming, still tried to start the car, it when on for about 2 seconds at rough-800rpm idle then rpms dropped and car stopped running. Then, I tried to started it again a couple of times more and I still don't hear the fuel pump priming and the car will crank but not start.
Did I ruin/blew the fuel pump or something in the system? I don't understand what could have possibly gone wrong. I already tried searching for it but did't find the exact same situation and though details might be important.
A lot of sections of the highway I frequently use is now repaved. Even on smooth looking highway sections, I feel vibration (bumping feel) from the seat and/or floor (also a little from steering). My hip and/or legs feel vibration.
I road force balanced wheels once, and then ordinarily balanced once again. I still feel vibration. I drove the same highway with 2012 Hyundai Veloster and 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback. With those cars, the drive is smooth (no vibration) on smooth looking highway.
2012 Golf TDI is my first car with sports suspension.
I am getting tint done soon, I had thought I read this a long time ago but I couldn't remember, does tinting our windows require interior trim removal or not?

View 6 RepliesI have this rattling noise. i have gotten under the car, and resecured the heat shield its starting to rust around the mounting points but that's not the issue, on the driver side near one of the large rubber plugs i hit around it with a hammer and there is something inside of it that is rattling starts around 1900rpm and stops around 2500 rpm how do I get in there to get the damn thing out? Its not the cat nor the exhaust etc.
View 3 RepliesMy display on the MFA and Climatronic panel is really wrong (-44C now). I was taking a look at the sensor in the front left grille but the only thing that's changing into the readings with my Vag-Com is the outside temperature sensor but not the displayed temperature.
I didn't find any other sensor on my car. Nothing into the rain tray...
So I know these posts a a dime a dozen but unlike most i know what did to cause the lights to go out.
I unplugged the dimmer switch harness and headlight switch harness to clean the air vents. When i plugged everything back in, none of the red or blue backlighting turns on when i turn the headlight switch. The instrument cluster and all the trim remains dark.
At first my turn signals were not working but they have begun working again. headlights and break lights all work. and my interior dome lights work.
I checked every fuse i could think of that would relate to the interior lighting and everything looks fine there. is there something else i can check?
Trying to remove all the lower trim on the dashboard. Have everything but the lower right portion on the drivers side. The carbon trim on there seems to be tucked under the upper part of the dashboard itself and I can't remove it. I assume there is one final screw under there?
I can pop it loose a bit on the left corner but feel if I force that trim something is going to break.
2012 Golf TDI. I'm trying to find the actual part number for the rear, driver's side door panel (door card). I've found some listings for the actual panel but none that provide the part number. It's the one that has the aluminum insert w/o premium audio.

If the driver's side fender liner is supposed to have an access panel cover? I was swapping out my side markers today and noticed that my passenger's side has one but not the driver's side. Didn't think to check for something like that during delivery although from looking at the one from the passenger's side, it doesn't seem hard to believe that it could have fallen out due to spirited driving.
