Golf IV / Jetta IV :: AC Not Working / Low Voltage At Compressor

I am trying to figure out why my AC is not working. Both fans are coming on and the AC button is light up but it is not blowing cold. The charge was checked and it has a good charge. The compressor appears to not be engaging. I checked for power at the electrical connector for the AC compressor and my voltmeter is showing voltage between 3.1-8.3 volts. It jumps around between that voltage every few seconds. The fuses have all been checked and are in not broken. What else should I be checking?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2002 - A/C Not Working - Compressor Won't Engage

I have a 2002 Jetta 1.8t and the A/c doesn't work. I took a look and I know that the clutch/compressor does not engage. also, the rad fans do not turn on when I have the AC on in the car. all I get is hot air. I tested the line and there is no freon in them whatsoever. which is why the compressor is off. however, I can't add any freon without it working. I checked the fuses on the side of my dash and on top of the battery as they seem to be ok. Also, I was told that I just need to replace the compressor with a new one and I should be good to go. Is this true? It will be an easy fix if it is.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Heater Mostly Not Working - Defrost Keeps Blowing Fuse For AC Compressor

99 Jetta VR6... 190k

So the heat doesn't really work on my car- and its getting cold outside.

I read the DIY on fixing the resistor pack, but there is a lot of hooptiness to my ride, (not sure if that's the issue).

All the fan control speeds work, but the most I ever get is vaguely warm air- it never gets fully hot.

The temperature gauge does not work most of the time- it does occasionally (but randomly) work as expected.

The defrost doesn't work either due to an issue with the AC (it keeps blowing the fuse for the AC compressor- like, right away)

There's a multitude of issues happening here I know, but need to narrow down the suspects for the heat, that would be very useful.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - No Power To Compressor?

I have a 2004 Jetta wagon 2.0. About 2 years ago my compressor was replaced with a used one and the a/c was working perfectly fine. Last year the air from the a/c began to get warmer until it completely stopped blowing any cold air. A couple of weeks ago we checked the freon lines and they had plenty of pressure in them. We also checked the fuses in the car and on top of the battery along with the fan control module. The compressor spins from the serpentine belt but the clutch does not engage and there is no power in the wires going to the compressor. There is power at the high pressure switch but the condenser fan does not come on unless the switch is jumped. Could the culprit be the ambient temperature sensor?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 - Cigarette Lighter Not Working

Common issue, tried to the common fixes, nada. Checked fuse 41 - cigarette lighter, wasn't blown, swapped it with another 15A anyway, still no power. Cleaned the contacts inside as best I could with a wire brush, nothing. The red illuminated ring around the lighter lights up, but no power to the cig lighter still.

We're moving out of state in July and it will be a two day trip, want to make sure that the car charger will work before we leave.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 - Door Ajar Not Working - ASR Stays On?

Electrical issue that I have been unable to resolve following other threads on here. Door ajar (to turn off radio and turn on interior lights) not functioning. My son has to lock the driver door from the outside when exiting to turn off radio. Alarm does sound and red light starts flashing indicating that part is functioning. Same thing when entering vehicle, the interior lights do not come on when opening the door. All other window switches and door locks function from driver door panel, except right rear door lock does not, he has to unlock by using the interior handle. Last one but unsure if related is the anti-slip (ASR) dummy light stays on in the instrument cluster, and doesn't change when pushing the button. I have gone through the driver door switch, cleaned/lubed/etc, but no luck. If it's a ground issue, where should I concentrate our efforts?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 - Engine Temperature / Fuel Gauge Not Working

I have a 2005 mk4 gli and the other morning I went out to start my car for work and all I got was crank no start. I then realized my fuel pump wasn't priming when I opened the driver door. After work I came back and checked the fuel pump fuse and swapped the relay with another I had, still nothing. A buddy of mine decided to check the connector at the fuel pump for power, using a power probe I believe he hit all or the majority of the wires with 12v of negative and/or positive power. He then unplugged the connecter and plugged it back in and the car fired right up. But I noticed that my fuel gauge, engine temp gauge, and outside air temp readout were all not functioning. I've searched and searched without being able to narrow down a solution.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 - A/C Compressor Not Working

Truck has the EATC system. Blower motor works, blowing 78.5 degrees at the vent. Compressor will not kick on at all. I checked all fuses and they are good. Put gauges on the low and high side, both sides register a constant 70psi, held for 30 minutes with the a/c on max. What the problem is?

Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - AC Won't Working When Stopped For Short While / Replace Compressor?

I have an issue with the air conditioner of my prius. It just works while I am driving, but it does not work when I stop for a short while, such as waiting for signal. The fan is working fine. I visited a dealer and they told me the gas is leaking... but, they are wrong. I cannot believe them. The gas is fine and there is no leak and no problem exists at any other parts. Need to know about it? Should I replace the compressor?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 - No Power To Injectors

2005 Jetta 2.0L Bev gas engine... Changed fuel pump. and then not getting power to injectors. Changed Battery, fuse block at battery, repaired alternator wire, and changed ignition switch. Tried napa fuel relay and no change. Put old relay in and car started up but died several times. when it shuts off I'm losing power to #32 and 34 fuses. when cycling ignition, power restores at times and car will run. By the way fuel pump has always run since changed. Codes show injector circuit malfunction on all 4 injectors P0201, P0202, P0203, and P0204.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Cig Light Power Outlet Not Working

So the 12V power outlet (the one up front by ashtray) in my MK4 Jetta is not working anymore. There was a penny stuck in there and my dumb friend tried ramming his phone charging in anyways and it sparked and now won't work even though I got the penny out. I already checked and replaced fuse 41 and it did not do anything or look blown. Now, the fuse area is looks pretty gross and I'm going to remove it and clean it, but do you think there's maybe a short or something to do with ground since it sparked like that?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 GTI Losing Power To Fuel Pump

I have a 2005 Volkswagen GTI with 80k miles. Just yesterday I went to school and the car drove fine. But when I came back and tried to start my car, it stalled out after a few seconds. Now I thought this was a bad fuel pump until I checked it and found that the fuel pump wasn't receiving any power. I checked the fuse and it was intact. So then I went to check the relay and found that if I unplug the relay and plug it back in, the fuel pump momentarily receives power for about 2 seconds then nothing. Any clue what the interference could be?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 - At Half Tank Power Loss?

I have a 2005 jetta 2.0 Once it gets under half a tank I lose power, it acts like it's running out of gas. It only does it in warmer weather (this started in march when we took it to Florida, once it got back in the cold weather it didn't do it again until 2 days ago when it was in the 70's). I took it to he mechanic I've used since I got the car (he works exclusively on vw and audis). It didn't do it to him in the two weeks he had it, he couldn't find anything wrong that would cause the issue.

He did do a complete tune up, replaced both of my fans and coolant. I ended up replacing the coolant temp sensor myself since that decided to go bad after I got it back. It lost power after getting the car back again warm weather and just under half a tank of gas. Prior to the Florida trip the water pump, timing belt and starter were replaced. I had my fuel pump replaced in 2014. It is an automatic with 157k miles on it.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Power Windows And Door Locks Not Working

I have a 2003 jetta GLI (vr6 6 speed) that i received from a friend because of some body damage to the doors mainly. so i replaced the doors with some from a 2001 jetta glx, but the power windows don't work with the switches inside the car. However, when I put the key in the door and turn it, all of the windows will go up and down...(So the motors are good and they are getting power) the door locks, gas cap lid, trunk, sunroof all work and the interior lights work as well.

So i researched it and everyone said fuse #14 or ccm... so i replaced the fuse.... multiple times now just to make sure... After that didn't work, i bought a new ccm with the same part #. that didn't work at all... still same problems... I was wondering if maybe the new doors are or aren't CAN-BUS? if that even matters?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: AC Compressor Won't Kick On At All - 1.8t

AC compressor won't kick on at all. I know the system doesn't have much refrigerant (just replaced the line that runs from the expansion valve to the bottom of the drier, the drier itself, and the condenser)..

Evacuated the entire system with a pump. Tried putting refrigerant in and the pressure on the gauge goes up immediately into the yellow/red...jumped the connector on the high pressure switch and the fans came on, shouldn't the compressor kick on too?

Checked the 14 pin connector on the fcm for 12V...PIN number 8 is barely seeing any power which leads to no power getting to the compressor...

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: AC Compressor Not Turning On

The dealer diagnosed my a/c as needing a new compressor and clutch. I had an a/c specialty shop install a remanufactured compressor and clutch. however, they could not get the compressor to kick on. I checked all fuses (all are good).

I checked the compressor continuity (good, 0 ohms). I checked the plug where the compressor clutch plugs in (it reads 12 volts). the funny thing is, it reads 12 volts anytime the engine is running (even if the climatroinc is turned off). I am definitely not an a/c expert and really don't know how this stuff works.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: When AC Is Switched On, Compressor Runs Without Going Off

In my 2001 2.0, my AC has been blowing hot air for a while now. It was intermittent at first but now is constant.

The compressor runs without going off when the AC is switched on. I can tell because I see the compressor clutch engaged and spinning.

I tested with AC manifold gauges and these are the readings I got.

Engine off : Low is 0, High is 135

Engine on, AC on full blast after running 10 min at 1500 RPM:

Low is 4, High is 135

Looks pretty bad.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Intermittent AC - Compressor Would Engage Then Disengage

I have an 02' 2.0 Jetta Wagon, and the A/C is having some issues. Since I know close to nothing about A/C systems, I took it in to a few places to have it looked at. I've had the whole system Evac'd and recharged, and have had the low pressure fitting replaced (apparently there was a slight leak there), and the system is still not working.

The A/C worked fine when I first purchased the car a few months ago. Shortly after my 800 mile trek from Oregon, back to home, the A/C started to only work intermittently. The compressor would engage, then disengage, repeat...It seemed like a bad idea to keep trying to use it in its sad state so I stopped using it altogether. As I said, I had the system emptied and recharged, but it still only works intermittently. It sort of follows a pattern where upon start up it works longer, and switches on and off at shorter intervals, until it doesn't engage at all.

There are no strange noises from the compressor, and when it was hooked up to the machine, it proved to be performing its function well.
