Wondering what could be possible causes of severe shaking while under acceleration?? Also does it worse when turning right. Will just vibrate and start going wherever.
View 2 RepliesThis summer, my steering rack failed, and I had it replaced with a remanufacutured steering rack. All went well, until a few weeks ago I started feeling a pulsing effect when turning, usually when turning right. On a few occasions, the shaking has become severe. It is a back-and-forth effect, about three times a second. It is bad enough that it has triggered a power steering error on two occasions. I took it to the garage who installed the rack, asking them to have a look at it, and they found nothing. Because the effect is regular, I am assuming that I am feeling the 12V power assist malfunctioning or reacting to faulty input.
View 11 RepliesMy 01 gti VR6 just started shaking pretty hard under acceleration on the front end. I'm guessing I snapped something or loosened something on launch. It was running fine on the way to the hardware store. Then I took off quickly because of oncoming traffic and suddenly it started shaking on the whole front end. I can feel it and see it from the wheel to the dashboard. It happens around 30 Mph. I picked up the car put it on jack stands and when the load is off the tires it doesn't seem to shake. Being that it happened so suddenly I am not leaning towards a bent rim or alignment. I don't see much wear to the dog mount underneath and the engine doesn't seem to rock much when revving or putting in gear so I'm not thinking much for broken engine mounts.
View 3 RepliesMy brother has an 02 ford escape that he bought cheap because it needed a transmission. He just replaced the transmission in it as well as tie rod ends, front axles, axle bushings and seals. The front pads and rotors are new and the tires were just rotated. Now when you are going 15mph and up and are on the accelerator there is a severe shaking as you accelerate and a loud thumping noise. If you let off the accelerator it goes away. If you get it going fast enough it will shake so bad the mirrors will shake. He is a ford mechanic but said he is having a hard time pin pointing what it could be . He took me for a ride. He said he has had other mechanics look at it but they can't figure it out.
View 5 RepliesSo I lowered my car sometime last year and ever since then when i make a right turn above 20mph it caused my car to shake pretty violently. i figured it might have been my Left outer cv joint so I changed the axle, solved my problem temporarily but didn't really make it any better. Recently its gotten way worse and now shakes on any sort of acceleration, and at the slightest turn of the wheel towards the right side. If I left off the gas, put it in neutral, engage the clutch, or turn the wheel to the left it goes away. Could this be the right side inner CV joint or something else? Car shakes under acceleration or right turns, is it my axle?

I have a severe shaking at 1500 rpm last gear and a slight shaking at idle doesn't shake when I'm off the gas barely shake when I kick it into higher revs but I than hear piston slap.
I replaced the spark plugs and I have brand new U-joints. Last night I checked all the plug wires and they are all getting spark. But my exhaust is skipping like I'm not firing in a couple cylinders
I checked the rear transmission mount (I'm replacing it). And the Engine mounts look ok but I'll check again today
I've read a ton of forums and they all have different answers so I'm really trying to figure out what is wrong before I spend a bunch of money replacing things that won't fix it!
I've read that it can be my tranny, TC, Harmonic Balancer, Steering Stabilizer, pinions, Tie rods, Steering(over all), IAC, Fuel System, IgnitionSystem.
When I turn the key in the ignition, almost nothing happens. There is no resistance when turning the key. Accessory power works (interior overhead lights, dash back lighting, door open sound) but no dash lights or headlights (just the front passenger parking light comes on). Tried to get a jump but nothing happened, not even the headlights came on. Haven't tried push start yet. I suspect an issue with the ignition switch, but I found another thread that suggested it could also be traced to certain fuses.
View 3 Replies2 weeks ago my fans stayed on all day and killed my battery. Did a bunch of research and found that the FCM would be a possible place to start. FCM was literally in pieces under the battery. Replaced it with a new one. Still no fans. Popped open the fuse box on top of the battery. Fuse closest to the engine was blown and the plastic had started to melt. Bought a whole new one of these and replaced it. This time I read about the AC test with the car off. AC works (which is a pleasant surprise) but only the big drivers side fan works. The small passenger side fan never turns on. Turned the key off and the fan stops so that's good, I think. Ever since then my battery gets drained if it sits for so many hours.
Everything I read points to that fan going bad and becoming inoperable. But is that what is causing my battery to drain? Today I pulled the fuse nearest the engine when I got to work to see if my battery stays charged all day. Well as of right now it will not even turn over. Went out after work and it turned over 6 times but did not start. Started to jump it using my buddies car. Let it charge for 20 minutes and now it wont turn over. Have dash lights. Glow plug light is working as it should. Headlights everything works. Charged up the battery. Have 13 volts at the battery. Doesn't make a difference. Still will not turn over. Going to pull my battery tray after work and see if I can see the solenoid. Will see if I have any power there. Can I see the solenoid from the top of the car? Probably not...
I have a 2002 Jetta GLS that I got recently, it has 136,XXX miles on it and has a whine sounds like coming from the transmission or differential that starts around 2000-2500 rpm and gets a bit quieter at 3000. Transmission shifts smoothly, fresh oil change on trans and differential with no difference. It does not whine if the car is parked and you rev the engine, only does it while driving. Transmission is automatic
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 VW jetta 1.8t recently I've noticed that in 5th gear around 35-45 mph its losing acceleration. its a tiptronic so i can just downshift speed up a bit an o to 5th, however I don't want that to be the permanent fix, what this is or why its doing it?
View 1 RepliesI bought a 2000 jetta gls vr6 5-speed. Only had the car about 4 weeks, already I am in, ball joints, struts, brakes, core leaks and my half shaft fell off at the transmission. Now, driveabilty issue.
Severe loss of power, sputtering bad. when i shift, the car revs a bit. installed new O2 sensor due to a rich code and a out of range code. Now the EPC light is on with an implausible brake switch signal. Replaced switch still comes back on. Still running like poop. Changed the plugs also about 1k back. I just ordered a MAF.
My Jetta makes a clicking/clanking noise when I turn my steering wheel from standstill. I was told it was my CV joints. So I replaced them and its still making the noise. I was told then it was my struts/shocks. Is this true? The sound is coming from the front driver side wheel. Also, when looking at this tire. I noticed that while this one does have some wear it is even throughout the tire. However, this tire has more wear than the others. The others look brand new.
View 5 RepliesSo the trans on my '02 GTI 1.8T has started doing this exciting new thing where it won't shift out of first gear for a few minutes when it's cold. I had attributed this mainly to that pesky valve body everyone talks about and hadn't got around to doing anything yet, when something new happened.
I noticed that if I turn right within a minute of the transmission "starting to work again", it'll slip out of gear again. There's one turn it always happens on, an uphill right-hander down the street from home.
Anyway, is it possible that this transmission has had some fluid loss? I know they're supposed to be "no maintenance" ( lol ) but I've had the engine rebuilt in the last year and maybe the shop borked something while they were down there?
What are the possibilities here?
Today I took my AWD 2.7 Santa Fe out. All seemed fine until I made a turn... I noticed I was loosing power and came to a stop, despite pressing the gas pedal fully. The car then started to vibrate extremely hard and all of the dash lights came on. The car stalled completely. I tried to start the car again, but it took a few tries. The car shook severely in park, but when put in drive immediately became much worse and then completely stalled. I did this many times trying to get out of the street. I finally got it to work good enough to get off the road - I did however notice that it would not shift out of 1st gear. It had very high rpms, but refused to shift.
I am guessing this is the crankshaft position sensor? Could this be a MAF problem? I believe I read on this forum about high humidity making Santa Fes go crazy - it has been over 95% today, and raining. I managed to get the car down the road to a shop we trust. They are going to try and read codes later.
I have a 1995 Mustang convertible 3.8. Shakes when its started at an idle and as u push the accelerator, the shaking gets worse, in park, neutral, drive, doesn't matter. I have replaced plugs, wires, coil, torque convertor. I took it to precision auto tune and they said everything checked out computer wise but there is deffinately something wrong. Car shakes so bad its insane.

I first thought maybe my wheel was warped because I think I hear what sounds like a cheap set of tires but only from the passenger side not the drivers side... but I'm prob over thinking and fooling myself into a new set of wheels.
Having a somewhat scary problem.....my truck is already a rough ride due to the fabtech lift and the 37's and you get a lot of feedback through the steering wheel. Its a rough ride down the highway but where it gets scary is at lower than highway speeds like 35-45 range. I can hit a bump and it will send the trucl into this insane cavitation that will literally shale the fillings out of your teeth. I cannot tell if it is in the drive wheels or the front wheels. The best way I can describe it is that its like trying to push a buggy in wal mart with a bad caster wheel on it. It feels like you are about to have a wheel fall off or that its broken off a tie rod or something. Then you simply slow down to a stop and you can drive right on like nothing was wrong. The vibration or shaking does not slow down with the speed. I cannot find anything obvious broken or damaged but this thing is getting dangerous to drive.
05 F350 DRW Fabtech 6 inch lift and 37's. 114k miles.
This summer my power steering went out. I replaced the steering rack with a remanufactured rack, which failed. I got the replacement rack replaced by the remanufacturer and installed by a different shop. Same problem: SEVERE vibration when turning hard right followed by the PS error code, or just little twitchy motions when driving. I'm having the second shop take a look at it again this monday as I suspect that this is a data processing issue.
View 13 RepliesI bought my f 350 new from the dealer and have had many of the problems associated with this truck. Now I have a severe shudder while under acceleration when i either let off the gas or increase speed the shudder goes away. My dealer thinks it is injectors but I have little faith. Shudder seems to be rpm consistent and seems to be in the front end. oh yea it idles great and runs great except at that specific range.

View 5 RepliesI recently bought my first VW 1.9TDI and noticed that the car shakes between 75-85km/h, both when I drive at those speeds, accelerate and or even brake during that region. I know the car needs an alignment which I have booked in when I change to my winter tires tomorrow, but could this issue be something else like a bent rim? Or what else could this issue be coming from during those speeds.
