2001 golf interior lights don't come on if any door opens, car doesn't recognize any of the doors to be open on the dash. I read it could be bad door lock modules, but does that happen to all 4 or could it be an electrical issue?
View 4 RepliesWhen I open the driver's door, the car does not register that the door is open: the dome light and other interior lights don't come on, the red alert light inside the door itself doesn't come on, and sometimes my alarm will go off when I start the car because it does not know that the door has been activated properly. When the passenger door is open, all the lights function properly. I'm thinking this is a fuse? Hopefully a simple fix?
View 12 RepliesSo I have an 03 wolfsburg, when my car is on and I open either the front driver or front passenger door the lights on the interior don't come on. Is this normal? I could have sworn they did before and on my 01 1.8t GLS, but if I open the any of the rear doors the lights come on...
I just got an LED interior kit, but haven't got it in the mail yet, so it is still on the stock bulbs from the factory, is it a dual filament bulb that just needs replacing?
About 4 months ago I was at the gas station and when I tried opening my fuel door, the switch wasn't working. I went home, took the door trim off, and then removed the switch in order to clean it. Once I cleaned it, it worked but about every 3rd time that I clicked it. However, yesterday it finally gave out as I was at the gas station. So I came home and now I'm stuck because I don't want to break the fuel door.
I ran through the fuses in the fuse box but on the diagram none seem to be for the fuel door. The weird thing is that yesterday as the fuel door switch gave out, so did the interior door lock switch. Now I have to insert the key from the outside in order to enter the car. But the key cannot unlock the passenger door.
When I hit the interior door lock switch, I hear a click noise under the dash. I took a look under there and it seems to be a bunch of relays. It's very tough to tell which one is the one clicking.
I have a 2004 Santa Fe with 327,000+ miles on it (the speedometer doesn't work any longer - another problem).
Last July/Aug (2012) I had the driver window fixed (didn't go up or down) after it was fixed all the interior lights stopped working...dome light, map lights...they will not work automatically by opening a door nor manually. Even the rear hatch light will not turn on. Its not the fuse.
I pulled the TFL pin from the back of the harness plug that goes to the headlight switch (Euro one at that) but not only did it kill the all the dash, console, switch light, but the DRLs stayed. Pin was the 3rd one from the left on the top row if you look at the harness plug as it sits in the car. Thicker gauge red wire.
This is a 2003 Wolfsburg Jetta.
If I have the switch set for the lights to turn on when I open the doors, they don't turn off when the doors are shut they just stay on all of the time. Also, sometimes they don't work at all and sometimes they do. My 12v outlet doesn't work either but I am guessing it's the fuse..
View 2 RepliesSo I know these posts a a dime a dozen but unlike most i know what did to cause the lights to go out.
I unplugged the dimmer switch harness and headlight switch harness to clean the air vents. When i plugged everything back in, none of the red or blue backlighting turns on when i turn the headlight switch. The instrument cluster and all the trim remains dark.
At first my turn signals were not working but they have begun working again. headlights and break lights all work. and my interior dome lights work.
I checked every fuse i could think of that would relate to the interior lighting and everything looks fine there. is there something else i can check?
Ok today I was driving my 2004 Gli n noticed when I flash my high beams (pull them back for temporary lights) my interior lights come on. When I release the high beams the lights go back off. I know this isn't normal n wanna fix it.

View 12 RepliesI opened the door yesterday, got out of the car, then when I got back in the door wouldn't close. I did end up getting it closed but it took a lot of force and there was major resistance. When I got out, there was no resistance top open about a foot opening, just enough to squeeze out. Any more than that and I would have needed a lot of force to get it open.

or is there a way I can get a footwell lighting kit that I can buy and install?
First day that is below freezing and my rear passenger driver side door is hard to open more than half way. I really have to push it to open all the way. How to fix this?
View 11 RepliesAfter getting my car washed on Friday I noticed that the key fob no longer opens the passenger door. It used to be that pressing the unlock button twice would open both doors. Is it possible that some combination of buttons or something caused this to stop working? The button in the door unlocks the passenger door just fine.
View 17 RepliesSo my 04 GLS Jetta has had this issue for a while and I would like to find out why. If I pull the button for the trunk in the drivers door or press the button my key to open the trunk, nothing happens. The lights will flash when I press the button on the key but no sound comes from the trunk. Same goes for the trunk release button in the door. No sound. The only way I can open the trunk is to use the actual key and while I turn the key, I have to press down on the trunk. Turning the key alone will not open the trunk. It only opens when I press down on the trunk and turn the key.
Is this normal if the trunk release motor on the trunk goes out? I also have had the trunk open and did the button in the door and the key with nothing happening. How to troubleshoot this?
So, I'm pulling my hair out now. I loaned my car to a friend for a few months while I was out of the country and now that I've gotten it back, the rear hatch will only open with the key. I've searched online for days and tried several things but, nothing is working. Here's what's going on and what I've tried.
The back opens perfectly with the key (i.e. there's nothing stuck in the latch)
When I use the fob, the lights flash but the actuator doesn't move (there's no noise other than the lights flashing)
When I pull the switch in the drivers door nothing happens (can't remember if the lights are supposed to flash or not but they DON'T now)
When I lift on the handle in the trunk nothing happens
I've pulled the interior back hatch cover off and tried to activate the actuator using a 9V battery and it did nothing so, I thought it was a dead actuator. I just dropped $60 on a new one, plugged it in, shut the hatch and nothing happened....
I don't have access to VAGCOM or anything like that so, hopefully there are things that I can test w/o that?
Noticed this afternoon that as it got dark outside, all dash and door lights aren't working.
The gauge cluster lights, VERY dimly, but delays by appx 2 seconds before coming on? Only switch light that still works right is the Red ring on the Headlight switch.
Again this is all lights, except lights in headliner work fine, gauge cluster lights very dimly with a delay?
I don't know what is this.. Before 30 mins everything worked fine, I installed a new LED panel to the interior light centre and happened this!
The dome lights doesn't work with any door. Can be the relay?
I found trunk in 2003 GTi won't lock, and new actuator(motor) didn't, either. No signal on the connector when I press key fob switch, through rear light blink. I guess there would be another connector to this wire(green and blue) somewhere inside the passenger side C pillar.
View 1 RepliesI recently installed a k04 turbo, when I try and accelerate hard my wastegate just seems to open up very quickly without building much boost. I don't have a boost gauge or anything like that installed. Do I start by adjusting the wastegate actuator, or install MBC. Pretty new to this still.
