I'm not sure if my car is an R32 but it is a mkIV GTI V6. There is a small radiator in front of the front passenger wheel and air is ducted from the front air scoops into the radiator. What is it cooling? I searched for a transmission radiator but nothing came up. I can only speculate that it is to cool engine oil or transmission oil. Is that correct and if so what is it called?
View 2 RepliesSo for the last few weeks, I've been noticing small specks of grease on the inner portion of my front passenger side wheel. I initially chalked it up to some sort of weird road grime or maybe I ran over something, etc. But it consistently has come back after a week or so goes by between washes (notice it each time I go to clean my wheels each week). Upon further inspection, it looks to be coming from the end of the boot on the tie rod. Its not "wet", but more of a sticky/dry grease that's seeped out and picked up grime/dirt. So it's definitely a very slow/minor amount. And the 3 other wheels definitely don't have the grease on them.
Hard to get photos and its dark out right now, but there's not much to see. Just a few small "globs" of grease that stick to the wheel barrel over the course of a week. Again, not a major amount by any means, but definitely doesn't seem normal.
I have an appointment scheduled for a tire rotation and head unit software update this Friday, so I'll be sure to have them inspect everything down there. Really curious as to what could have caused this, and what the fix might be.
So I just jacked up my car to check out how bad the bushings are on the control arms and the tire rod. They're bad. So I'm going to get the suspension stage 1 refresh kit from ECS.
Well I went to spin the passenger side wheel and I noticed that I can tilt it back and forth slightly, I checked the other side and couldn't do the same thing. I just got both wheel bearings replaced by a shop and I'm hoping its not the hub. This is just a CV joint or bushings or if it's actually the hub???
I am replacing my front passenger side door on my 2000 Jetta GLX. I have been searching online for detailed instructions on how to do this, but have turned up empty handed.
View 1 RepliesSo this morning is just getting better and better. Was coming back in from getting the mail and noticed a small puddle under the passenger side tire/wheel area.
I never ever have a puddle of any sort in my drive way so...I start crawling around the truck and this is what I find. I can free spin the dust seal, but its all the fluid that has be worried. With less then 4 days till I have to haul everyone to the airport this is not what I need.
IF (man I feel stupid for asking) IF I leave it in 2 wheel drive how big of an issue would it be to drive it?
None of the parts will be in before I have to drive everyone out to the airport, this is the only reason I'm even considering this..
Plus would this explain a sudden lost of MPG?
I could hear a rattling noise under the hood. The passenger side fan would appear to be off balance or the bearing most likely is going out in it. I am having trouble finding a replacement fan for it. Can I replace just that fan, or am I looking at a new cowl complete replacement? What is the part numbers or a link about these fans. It is the passenger side fan that is malfunctioning.

What could be causing it? cause im doing my year end "maintenance" (if its worn/almost broke, perfect excuse to buy upgrades) ...
My control arms are brand new with r32 bushings as are my 034strut mounts/bearings. I checked my steering fluid level and its good.

I recently bought a 2000 Golf VR6 and I've noticed that my fan to the radiator stays in way too long and think it might be draining my battery. I don't even have to start the engine, once I put my key in the fan starts going. I'm getting really annoyed of having to take the out the fuse to get it to turn off. The battery is brand new so I don't think that's the problem.

I've recently noticed an odd smell in the car and found a small wet spot underneath the passenger front floor mat, only to be followed by same in the rear passenger floor mat. I was hoping it won't happen again, but I found myself with the wet floor few weeks later after the rain.
I first thought it may be the bike rack (which I have posted in the earlier month) but seeing the location and occurence, it couldn't be from the rack. It was always the underneath the center of the freaking floor mat.
My R is at the dealer since yesterday, getting a full physical.. They're even talking about removing the headliner to make sure there is no internal leak from the roof.
I searched but couldn't immediately find anything about this particular line. I've been struggling with a rough idle for the past couple weeks, throwing codes that I'm running to lean all the time. I cleaned the throttle body and MAF, and was in the process of replacing the MAF and noticed a small hose fitting behind the MAF but before the throttle body was pretty much split in half. I don't know what it's for and I'm replacing it regardless, but could this be the source of my problem?

View 1 RepliesI have approximately 66,000 miles on my 2013 F250 truck and noticed a small drip from the front drivers side around 40,000 miles. That random drip is now a leak and the truck will be going into the shop to replace the Primary Radiator.
I absolutely love this truck, but what a disappointment that this isn't a recall. What scares me is that my buddy who has a 2014 F250 will be going in for his second primary radiator in 3 years of ownership.
I just noticed today that my passenger front wheel is sticking out further than my driver side wheel. I did a brief search and had a hard time finding anything.
I've read about shifting the subframe, but that only seems to adjust a few millimeters.

Notice the shift in the ball joint mounting on the passenger side. The driver side was replaced at the time of alignment.
I have Nissan Sentra GXE year 2000 model and it has 143K miles on it. I get a hammering noise on the front passenger side wheel when I apply brake. I did replace caliper, brake master cylinder, rotors, brake pads and brake shims but no luck. The noise is like "ta ta ta ta.." and it gets louder based on speed of car. Brake pads and rotors been replaced 3 times in last 2 years to get rid of noise and been seen by 4 mechanics so far no one could find the exact problem. I also took the car to Nissan dealership they also recommend changing brake pad and rotors which I already did thrice.
View 5 RepliesUpon putting on my winter wheel i was checking if the bolts were too long and my rear passenger side wheel wasn't spinning. I took the wheel off and checked the rotor and it took a lot of force to spin because the caliper didn't go back. I took the brake fluid line out hoping it would decompress the caliper and it did not, and brake fluid leaked out a tiny bit. This leads me to believe that my caliper is bad. Just want to make sure before I order another one

View 4 RepliesI've been having issues regarding my front passenger wheel chirping with wheel rotations. It comes and goes with bumps in the road and seems to happen more frequently while gradually turning left and never/barley happens while turning slightly right. It is NOT the wheel bearings, and I suspect it is due to a possible bent spindle. More info in a separate thread : [URL] .....
That issue, while incredible irritating, is being pushed to the wayside.
My more pressing issue has only started over the few weeks. With the windows up and radio off I could hear a whining/whirring noise during the last couple yards of a complete stop. This seemed to be coming from the engine bay more than a wheel well. Uneducated guess would be brake booster? No clue there . . .
Now I'm hearing a creaking/binding/light popping sound that occurs with wheel rotation (both wheels). It is what I would imagine a poly bushing binding and releasing would sound like, or the crunching/creak of stopping hard in snow and slush. It is not a constant sound, but rhythmic slowing with wheel speed. Is this an issue with the caliper guide pins or bushings? I've greased them and properly torqued them about 3k miles ago during my last rotor/pad replacement. It is the only bushing I can think of in our brake system.
There is zero vibration, pulling or negative feel to the braking performance, just this binding/creaking sound.
So I just installed brand new coilovers and I quickly noticed a this problem. On the passenger side, when the wheel is lifted, I can feel a little bit of movement from the coilover and it really seems like it is the top bushing that is moving. I can see the metal top plate moving a little also. Everything is we tighten andI did the same thing as the driver's side but only this one does this. When the car is on the ground I can feel there is a bit of play in the wheel if I bang on it with my hand. Also, I know the gap on the top plates is normal, specially when lowered but again the passenger side looks weird and is much higher then the other side. What I'm I missing here ? Both side top bushing and bearing are also brand new.
View 14 RepliesI have an 03 GLI and am having a little issue. My passenger front door won't latch. The tumbler, for lack of a better word, is in the proper position and swings freely; but it never catches. If I use a screwdriver I can push it all the way back; but there's not so much as a click when it gets all the way back and just swings back out.
View 1 RepliesMy car is a 99.5 Jetta 2.0 5 speed. Recently it had developed a squeak coming from the front right wheel. It speeds up/slows down based on vehicle speed. I jacked up the car to examine and once the wheel was off I checked everything and it appeared fine. Wheel bearing, tierod, and ball joint all replaced a few months ago, and brake pads and rotors replaced a week ago.
With the wheel off I spun rotor and it did still make the noise. That being said it rules out the possibility of anything to do with the wheel or any bushings. Obvious answer would be the brakes but they are brand new and appear fine. Anything missing?
