Golf/GTI VII :: Old Wooden Ship Noise In Front Suspension When Cold And Dry Outside

So, both of my 07' and 13' former GTI's developed that "old wooden ship" noise in the front suspension when it was cold and dry outside. My 13' was far worse than my 07'. It grew to dread going over speed bumps in my 13', it got that bad. I was about to take it to the shop to get that fixed when I decided to just trade it in for the new one instead.

I just bought a 2007 2.0T Passat with 25,000 miles. It makes a lot of noice going over bumbs or when front end dives especially when it's cold. Is this a well known topic?

I have a 2012 golf tdi, i have noticed that when i go over speed bumps or dips in the road i can hear a creaking from the front end of the car. I only noticed since it has been cold. What this could be?

It's been extremely cold in the northeast recently (<20 degrees), and I've noticed that my suspension has been very noisy (clunking type noises) when I'm driving on uneven roads or bumps. Is this normal? Is there something I can do to alleviate it?

Ok so I replaced my upper strut mount and my struts in the front along with the shocks in the rear.......... the squeak is still present when i go over a rougher bump and it is cold ..................SO i went on hma service and saw this...................
Symptom "Squeak or grunt-noise from the front suspension, occurs more in cold ambient temperatures-more noticeable over rough roads or when turning"
Suspect Area "Front stabilizer bar"
Remedy "Under these conditions, the noise is acceptable."
Wow so not acceptable i am going to try and lubricate this piece... Will report back

I am trying to find origin of clunking noise, but it is difficult to do as there is no visual signs and no excessive movements in any components.
Little bit of details and video. Noise occurs when moving rapidly steering wheel on stationary car with running engine. Not noticeable when at speed. Wheel is not vibrating and cv joints not clicking. Very tiny free movement in steering wheel about 1mm, but I am not sure if that is related maybe a completely different issue there. Mot tester make an advisory note that steering system slightly rough, but its not that useful to find an issue.

So I've recently dropped the car with ST coils and during the install, I had the mechanic installed NEW strut mounts and strut bearings because I've heard people having noises if they only do the coils.
However, even with the new strut bearings/mounts, I would hear clicking noises at low speed going in a out the parking spot or parallel parking (not every time but getting close). Therefore, my questions are:
1. If strut bearings/mounts are new and put in at the same time as the coils, what other reasons could there be that's causing this clicking noise?
2. If the noise doesn't bother me and I can live with it, would there be any negative effects for not having this issue taking care of?

I notice it mainly when leaving my house. Might I add I live on a dirt road that this car is not made for, so I often go about 5mph until I hit the pavement. When I back out of my driveway and cut the wheel rather sharp, there is a creaking noise from the front end. When I hit the end of my dirt road there's a hump in the transition from dirt to asphalt that's not quite big enough to bottom out but I'm sure it stretches out the suspension. I also here some creaking noises sometimes when I'm turning into the road.
Other than that, I can't say I've noticed any noise while driving on crappy PA roads. Now call me silly for this, but I've never checked for the strut pucks as I have no belief that they are still there. Just based on from what I have read, my car doesn't feel like I'm bottoming out over every little bump, so I don't believe that is the issue either.

When sitting in a parked position, engine running, and I jog the wheel back and fourth I'm hearing an awful clunking noise from what sounds to me to be the steering rack.
-The noise can not be replicated unless the vehicle is stopped with the front suspension loaded.
-While moving, be it 5 mph or 55 mph the noise can not be replicated.
-Tyrolsport deadest kit installed upfront, no apparent play in the u joint that connects the steering shaft to the rack.
There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about issues with mkv steering racks making noise like I'm describing. Most information pertains to subframe shifting which can't be the case.

Quick question : I just noticed a strange "creaking" or "squeaking" coming from my front suspension when I turn the wheel back and forth - while having the car at a stand still in the driveway...
I'm assuming my Strut Mounts (bushings) and/or Strut Bearings have gone and need to be replaced? As the creaking sound really souds like it could be the rubber bushing buckling?...
I just want to be 100% sure this is my issue before ordering the parts. Need to confirm that this noise I'm hearing is bad mounts or bushings? Or is there something else I should take a look at before ordering the parts?

2006 GLS w/just over 100k on it...
In the winter time the front passenger side is very squeaky, esp when going over bumps...
I had it into a shop to have a wheel bearing done and they said the balljoints needed to be replaced...
Well, all that did was firm things up, the ride was just as squeaky...
Now in summer, it's not nearly as bad... First thing in the morning there's some squeak over bumps but nothing like it is in the winter...
What the heck would this be?

I've got a 2006 b6 2.0 with about 92k on it. I bought it Cpo at around 68k 3 years ago this December. My auto tech said I'm going to need a new timing belt in about a month, so once this semester is over in a few weeks I'll be taking it in for that. Anyway, to my questions. My front suspension squeeks quite a bit going over bumps, especially when cold. Is this a sign of bad things to come in the future? Now my brakes, when they get wet they give off a very rough feeling, not very smooth. I have to slam on my brakes to 'wake them up'. Is this telling me they need to be replaced?

I'd like to try some "mixing of interior parts", that's why I'd like to get this wooden part around the shifter in the middle console out to change it into another color! The console, the cupholders stay in old look, but ashtray cover, ZAB, and the part around the shifter will change....if I find out how?

I just picked up a 2002 Camry with 137K miles and I can hear a rattling noise coming front passenger's side front suspension when tires are going over road irregularities. The car rides smooth so it doesn't seem that the struts are bad so was wondering is it a bushing or something in the front drivetrain (CV joint?). Interested enough my wife's 05 Lexus E330 with slightly less mileage makes the same noise on her driver's side.

Attached is a video of my car going over speed bumps. It sounds like a rusty bed spring :/ I dont know what to do. The dealership told me that everything is fine, but i dont believe that.
On another side note, i am also experiencing misfires a lot, and the car feels a little under powered. I dont know what part to replace but i was hoping to get some info on what to do, and yes i took it to the dealer, nothing showed up on the vag and like the previous issue they said the car is fine!! My ideal situation is to have someone drive it and confirm that there's an issue, and then obviously to fix the issue.

My front suspension has been making some noise for a while now, and lately has been getting worse. So I want to replace whatever the problem is, but having trouble figuring it out. Everything looks ok, and the methods I researched aren't giving any clues. The one question I Have is, should I be able to move any of the parts by hand? There are two that I can wiggle back and forth pretty easily, but I don't know if this is normal or not. One is a thin vertical piece parallel to the strut, the other is behind the wheel and low in the back (a tie rod?). Don't know the part names, have worked on my vehicles for a long time but never the suspension.

Over the last few weeks, my '12 Azera has developed some sort of noise I assume to be from the suspension, particularly on the right front. When the car sits for a long amount of time, there is a bumping/rattling noise when driving it. It takes a long time for it to go away. If I drive it a bit, turn it off for a bit, then drive it again, it won't do it any more.
I'm thinking it could be the strut mount bearing. I had a GM car that did the same thing and that was the problem. They replaced the strut mount and never did it again.

I am having this issue when crossing a bump at high speed, it only sound when the shocks de-compress and only happening in the mornings so I think it might be the piston rod inside the shocks that is "getting dry" on the night and therefore making the sound in the mourning.

Aside from the clutch and gear changing noise, recently I've been noticing something that sounds almost like a rattle when going over bumps, say a series of filled potholes on a highway where they just slightly bump to move your wheel around, it's not that deep thumping you would expect to hear but it sounds like something is loose in terms of the suspension.
Happens on the front and seems like its coming from both sides. To me it sort of sounds like they forgot to tighten something up when they removed the shipping "blocks"/spacers, but I am not exactly sure what to check. I really do not want to visit the dealership at only 600 miles on the clock ...
