Retrofitting Cruise Control on GTI? Where it goes? Turn signal lever or steering wheel? Coding and/or adaptation needed?

View 3 RepliesI see these 2 terms almost interchanged. I understand they have different functions. Clockspring is power to airbag and control module connects to, in my case, the CAN-BUS that actually sends the signals. Am I correct in my thinking here? I have just about put all the pieces together for my MK6 MFSW retrofit and still wondering if I'll need a new clockspring or not.

Is it plug and play. My cruise control hasn't work. Numbers look right on vag and switches/fuses are all good. So I am left to assume its the stalk.
View 2 RepliesWhen I bought my R32 at the end of last year the cruise control didn't work. The light doesn't come on.
View 8 RepliesOn my commute home today I tried to engage cruise only to find that would not engage. I cycled the switch a few times but that didn't work. I told a friend of mine about it and he mentioned that he experienced problems with his cruise on his GTI after he had switched the units on the MFD. Even though I didn't switch my units, when I got home I put the car in park and changed the units from U.S. MPH to KM/H and then back again to U.S. MPH. Lo and behold, cruise worked again afterward. Strange.
View 15 RepliesHaving issue where the set- on there cruise control doesn't work? I can set the initial speed, and increase it with res+ but I can't decrease the speed. This is difficult because I cannot unlock my ecu and change programs. I have a mk6 2012 gti.
View 6 RepliesI just purchased a low mileage R and trying to figure out if the car has been chipped. Not sure if when doing so you lose functionality of your cruise control but my cruise does not work and I am trying to determine how I go about checking the ECU on this ride.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 GTI. The turn signal blinker seems to stick when I engage cruise control. Repro steps as follows
- Driving
- Signal left (or right, doesn't matter)
- Turn on cruise control
- Attempt to stop signaling (i.e. turn signal control moved into off position)
- Problem: Blinker continues
- Nudge turn signal control to the other direction
- Problem: Blinker shifts to the other side and continues blinking
- I can stop the problem by turning off cruise control.
Seems like a software quirk.
My VAG-COM is down, so I haven't had the chance to scan and see what the code is that I'm assuming got stored, but here's what happened today:
Driving constant speed about 75mph with cruise control on, traveling on level ground. Road began to have a slight incline up a long gradual hill. EPC flashed and car dropped out of cruise control.
I manually accelerated up to speed again and reset CC. No further weirdness, but that's never happened to me before, and it's on a road I used to travel 6 days a week.
My 2010 GTI with 18.6k miles has been doing great until now. After a brief stop on hwy. coming back from Florida the airbag light stayed on and the cruise control stopped working. Its at dealer's now and I got a rental from VW. Guy in shop did not seem to have a clue. He talked about a module or wiring. He asked me if car had been in a wreck - no.
View 3 RepliesWhen I set my cruise control at ~ 50-52 mph the DSG insist on using 4th gear. At those speeds 4th gear turns the engine past 3k rpm.
Why would it do this ? The only way I can get around this is going on tip mode and selecting the gear myself.
Earlier this evening on the highway while in cruise control I had a strange issue. Going up a slight incline all of the sudden I lost power, my ESP and EPC lights came on, and the engine was running very strange.
It wasn't stuttering but was louder and vibrating a whole lot more than normal. I pulled over and shut the car off for a couple mins, started it up, everything was normal and continued. About an hour later the same thing happened and when I started up the car again the check engine light was on.
I had my room mate scan it when I got back and it came up with ECM and PCM processor errors. Not sure what kind of problems this would be. All the searches on cruise control didn't turn up anything like this. What the problem would be? The cars a turbo'd r32.
As the title says the cruise control is not working, the cruise light comes on but no workee after pressing the the set button. I have followed the steps according the the owners manual.
View 13 RepliesSo i had a long drive yesterday and i decided to use Cruise Control. I rarely use it, but I have tried it in the past and it worked. So yesterday it didn't work. The light never came on in the dash and it never actually worked. I plan on mentioning it to the dealer when i bring it in next time but i was wondering if there was something i could check for myself. Such as a fuse?
View 24 RepliesMy cruise fails to engage, sometimes first thing in the mornings, sometimes in the afternoon, cold engine or warm, fresh start or on resume. After the car is turned off for a few, something is resetting it and it then works fine. Wondering if this has something to do with a faulty switch, fuse, or whatever. I've tried the cruise switch on the stalk in turning it off for a while, keeping it pressed in, turning it back on, everything.
View 6 RepliesI was driving today and my cruise control light came on and wouldn't turn off. i vagcom'd the car and a code came up which was:
Cruise control switch (E45): Implausable signal
P1569 - 35 - 10 ---- Intermittent
I tried clearing it but it would but the light remains on. I noticed that when i hit the RES button on the stalk, the light goes away and when that when I scanned the car and held the RES button the code would come back. My cruise control also stopped working.
Cruise control on, set at, say 65mph. I want to lower the speed to 60mph. Tap down... click-click-click-click-click and watch the set speed number drop to 60.... then pop right back up to 65 and the car accelerates back to faster set speed. This has happened more than once now.
View 18 RepliesJust as the title says, is there any word on getting Adaptive Cruise with the Driver Assistance package? In all the literature I've seen the DA pack for US models only confirm collision warnings and rear parking sensors.
View 24 RepliesI have a 2011 GTI, has about 4000 miles on it. Sunday went for a quick ride down some FM's and on the hi-way. Got up to about 85mpg for about 10 miles, hit the exit back to the house which is only about a mile away. On that mile ride home I took it real easy maybe 35-45 mph decided to have a little AC also (outside temp 90F degrees).
I pulled into the garage sat and idled for about 30 seconds, on the MF display up pops the Cruise Control Malfunction icon ( amber on the MFI,But the owners manual says it's RED. it's a cruise symbol with a giant exclamation ) then it goes away. I looked at my cruise stalk, cruise was Off. I turned it on and up Pops the Malfunction Icon again then goes Off. Took the GTI back out and No Cruise malfunctions. Also, when I did finally park the Car both cooling fans were on for at least 4-5 mins after I had shut everything down.
Did I run my little GTI too hard? Is the Cruise control Malfunction icon like a nuisance message that doesn't really mean anything or, is it a sign CC it's already toast, or getting ready to go.
Question regarding a 2002 Dodge Dakota, 2wheel drive ext cab 100,000 miles 6 cylinder engine. Cruise control stopped working, get the indicator light on dash, but no cruise.
Would I start with the Clock Spring? Will Durango parts interchange? ABS Light, was told the problem is the main unit that mounts on the driver side fender. Have tried replacing with other units from the local scrap yard, but still get warning lights/sounds.
So noticed my cruise control does not work when I turn switch to on position the green light in cluster does not come on what are some problems that I could look into and also any example of using turn signal Bulbs in the head lights as drl lights instead of it running off of the actually headlight bulb?
