Golf/GTI VII :: Too Much Water Dripped From Undercarriage While AC On
Sep 16, 2015
Is this much water supposed to drip from the undercarriage if you've left the car running for maybe 10 minutes without moving it, while the AC is on?

Yes that's water down there. Cyl 6 coil pack, water was dripping out when I pulled it
Engine running fine, very occasionally it logs a misfire.
No signs of water splashes on engine cover, manifold or sound absorber. When cleaning I only ever wipe the engine cover with a damp cloth NO hosepipe. As far as I can tell there is no coolant loss, however when serviced back in April the coolant needed topping up.
After rain I frequently see a small amount of water- 2-4 oz.- drip out of the trim as soon as I open the hatch. Which side seems to depend on the tilt of the car. The only upstream point of entry appears to be the rear glass. Leaning toward a bead of silicone caulk, tastefully applied, to see it this stops it.
View 18 RepliesAs described, It presents when the rain is heavy and I splash the undercarriage with big amounts of water, then this very strong siren-like noise comes from rear and underneath the car. Once the car stops or undercarriage is no longer being showered by water from the splashing on the road, it quiets and stops. While present, if I stop the car the noise goes as well.
Some of my searches on google have come to other car forums and they are all seem to be happening on AWD cars, some blame the exhaust is affected by the cooling down effect of the water.
I bought a 2011 golf 6 2.5 litre 5 door. The second day driving it I discovered a noise coming from under the middle vents in the dash. I took it back to the dealer and they said it was a noise coming because the cable shift was missing some clips and it was rattling in the undercarriage. They replaced the entire cable and I'm finding the same problem only not as loud as before (however it is still there). I'm finding it is making noise around 1200 rpm when going up or down a hill (especially when he car has back passengers in the back or any form of weight in the trunk). The moment I accelerate the noise goes away. Noise is also more pronounced when I have the summer rims and tires on (18s oem). At this point the sound is intermediate however it's something i want to get out of the way. What it could be.?
View 2 RepliesMy 2001 PT Cruiser began to over heat today. By the time I immediately pulled off the road and smoke began to come out from under the hood. Once I stopped I heard a bubbling noise and watched as all my coolant steadily dripped onto the ground (almost a pour). What does this mean?
View 19 RepliesThe problem started when his heater core was leaking coolant and it dripped all the way down to his original ECU. Car stopped working. Then he went to a Hyundai dealer to fix the problem but they said he had to buy a brand new one. First ECU didn't work. Returned it and bought one more expensive. Dad told me it worked but he didn't by pass the heater core so coolant dripped again. So now I'm on my third ECU but it doesn't work. I've read online that some older cars have plug-and-play type of ECUs that aren't restricted to the VINs. His car is a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS FWD 4dr 3.5L.
View 5 RepliesMy '05 Yukon begins pinging/clanging loudly from the undercarriage (possibly the muffler) after driving for about 10 minutes. After driving, the pinging continues for some length of time, depending on how long I was driving.
I live in the south and the problem began a couple of months after a winter trip to Chicago, complete with snow, ice and salt, and I failed to wash the undercarriage when arriving back home. There are some rust "freckles" on the frame and axle, but nothing on the muffler; the drive shaft is completely covered in rust. Could rust be the issue?
When backing out today I noticed a pretty bad scrapping sound. It went away so I assumed that it was just a trashcan lid that I had run over. Tonight my mom came home and noticed a panel on the street. After looking at this thread [URL] .... I identified the piece that fell off.

Our 2009 Santa Fe has a knocking sound coming from the undercarriage of the vehicle. It cannot be heard when parked or when coasting. If I gently depress the gas pedal enough to rev the engine to 1500-2000 rpm when traveling at speeds of 35mph or greater it can be heard. The rate of the knocking / thumping appears to be related to vehicle speed, i.e., the faster we move, the higher the knocking rate.
Yesterday I emptied the vehicle of all contents and was still able to produce the sound upon demand.
I had my E in for service today to get her fluids changed and to replace her engine oil with Synthetic finally (second service for her).
I had noticed a rattle in the undercarriage for a few weeks now and assumed it was a common TSB for a heat shield that rattles. As it turns out, it is the resonator pipe that needs to be replaced (under warranty). I've never had to replace one before so hopefully it's just a one-off!
Otherwise, I can already tell she's happy to be filled with some wonderful Synthetic...
I own a 2009 VW tiguan 2TSI 4WD. Lately i am experiencing undercarriage low tone grinding noise as i made turns at slow speed. i am not sure if the noise is coming from the rear or front. Why and what should i do about it.
View 3 RepliesMy 09 FX4 Screw has developed a strange thumping sound coming from the undercarriage within the last month or so. Very noticeable when turning on even terrain. It's just barely under warranty and I am planning on taking it to the dealer.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2015 Sonata Sport 2.0T with less than 7k miles on it. I commute about 14 miles to work. During this drive, I hear a clunk/thud in the undercarriage that occurs usually 2 or 3 times each drive. It sounds like it might be coming from the wheel well. Originally I thought my tires were picking up rocks on the road and throwing them up into the wheel well. If any of you are familiar with the sound of dried mud releasing from a tire or the wheel well while driving a truck, this sound is very similar. It might just be me, but I feel like it is occurring while turning the wheel/straightening it out after a turn. Today it happened while changing lanes twice, and once taking a right hand turn semi-quickly at a green light. I know that I am not running anything over that is visible while driving.
View 4 RepliesWell this week, everytime I was backing up, hit a pothole or sometimes when I turn either left or right or hit the brakes a clunky or sometimes metallic sound appears coming from the back the undercarriage.
First I thought may be one of the bars (TRD or the Ultraracing sway bars) were loose, we lift, checked the car with the guy who installed the bars and all of them were tight ,nothing loose, we discovered on the front is time to change the bushings of the front stabilizer bar and also the rods who run parallel to the shocks absorbers but we couldn't mimic the sound the shocks are fine.
Tonight my daughter was driving the vehicle so I have a chance to hear the clunky noise, which I think is coming directly from the inside of the drums the sounds intensified at the time of hitting the brakes but is not all the time you hit the brake when it happened.
Also I can't explained why I heard the sound when I turn left or right and still coming from the back, doesn't make sense I can't find no relation whatsoever
I just add this 2 videos..

My coolant light came on the other day and I noticed the coolant is a bit low. Can I just add some water or would you recommend adding more coolant? Dealer only sells it by the gallon and I dont need that much.
View 7 RepliesI've parked my R32 mk4 over 5 years ago and recently I started the engine and I noticed over heating and then noticed there is oil coming out of the radiator water reservoir / it's thick and brown !!
I thought about it and went full overall opened the whole thing the head and pistons and everything and I couldn't find any traces or anything broken ,, (I wanted to do that since a long time).
Experiencing water in the top of there tail lights? The dealer says this is normal. It's been like this for a week now.

View 1 RepliesI just bought a 2001 Jetta with a VR6 with water in the gas. So far I've drained the tank (got probably 20oz of water out of the 3gal of gas) and put in fresh gas, replaced the fuel pump and the spark plugs. When I disconnect the return line I'm now getting nice clean gas but it will not fire. Although it will fire on ether. Anything else i should do? I have the full version of VCDS and am not getting any codes.
