On my MKVI the tire pressure monitor warning light would go off once the tires were inflated to the proper pressure. Does the MKVII do that or do you need to reset the system after every warning?
View 1 RepliesLast week I had new tires installed on my 18" Samarkands and the TPMS light has been on since. I've verified that all four corners have the metal TPMS sensors in place and the tires are at 40psi, spare is 38psi. I have driven over 100 miles since the tire change. In past the light would come on when pressure below 36psi, and would turn off when tires inflated.
Have this problem after a tire change? Are the sensors easily damaged? Discount Tire/America's Tire Store said to bring the car back so they could take a look, but first wanted to get Vortex input.
I recently had new tires installed on my 2008 Prius and after the tires were installed she drove better than ever and I drove about 150 miles across Florida with no issues what so ever. But when I went for a drive this evening, after about 30 minutes of driving my TPMS light blinked for about a minute then stayed solid for about 3 minutes but then went out. When I got out of the car all the tires looked okay, I didn't have a gauge on me and I will check the pressures tomorrow.
View 5 RepliesSo tonight I'm driving on I-80 and all of a sudden I hear a thud, the TPMS light comes on and a warning of low tire pressure. I get out to take a lot and the rear left tire is practically flat. Changing the tire was pretty easy once I figured out where everything was in the tray.
So now I'm in the market for a replacement tire as there was a huge hole in tread. I have a about 3000 miles on the car. Would you get a replacement tire that is the same make/model as the rest of the tires, or would you simply get a cheaper replacement? Once I am ready to replace the rest of the tires, I'm not sure if I would replace them with the OEM make/model anyway. At the same time I'm not sure how long the OEM's will last.
All 4 tires on my R32 at 40psi, but the TPMS light still on. Just wondering what PSI all R32 owner running?
View 24 RepliesI just got new tires installed on Saturday. I drove home about 3 miles with no problems. I then started driving this morning and when I got on the highway (70+ mph) the TPMS light came on. I pulled over and all of the tires looked fine. I tried resetting the button but it immediately came back on. I then had to drive about 20 miles round trip down to the 1st exit and back home. I attempted to go to the tire installer but they were closed. I checked the tire pressure next door at a gas station and all the tires had 38-40 psi.
Two things of note. The passenger side tires stem caps did not screw on tight, instead they would just keep spinning. I don't think tight caps could have caused this though. Secondly the tires were replaced because they had very little tread left and I hit numerous pot holes one night causing a flat in one and a bubble in another. Why this would happen. I would think a bent rim could cause the air to leak but the pressures where perfect all around.
I just got 4 new tires installed, running 235-40/18 setup (stock wheels.) On the drive home, the flat tire warning sign came on. I've tried to used the SET button in the glove compartment to deactivate it. That did not work (it flashed one time then stay on).
I check the pressure on all 4 tires and they're all at exactly 40PSI. What the problem could be and how to turn this pos off without going to the dealership?
Yesterday, I swapped my OEM 18" setup for new 17" winter wheels and tires (set at 37.5 PSI at 55 F)). Today I drove 30 miles and then my TPMS light came on (Temp=36F). Pulled over, checked pressure - all tires at 36.5 PSI.

View 4 RepliesThe tire pressure warning light came on about a week after the tires were rotated (and I assume filled) at the dealer. My son in law checked all 4 tires and they were above 30. Didn't want to fill anymore since I have the green caps. Light is still on. Is it safe to drive on highway at 75/80 mph? How does this light determine low pressure. Why is it still on? No other problem so hate to go to dealer for this but would like the light to go out.
View 5 RepliesI own a 2002 Prius, and I've been avoiding the task of inflating its tires for the last two years (largely because I'm not savvy with car maintenance). So, today I made the rookie mistake of deciding to inflate my tires without first looking up the appropriate tire pressure, etc--I figured the recommended tire pressure would be written on the wheel. I couldn't find the recommended PSI, or at least figure out which numbers corresponded to the tire pressure, nor, how it translated to the pressure bars on the air pump. That said, I inflated all my tires to slightly above 6 bars. Having now looked online, it appears the tires should have been inflated to 3 bars (winter weather conditions here in Ontario).
My problem is, I have to work for a couple hours today. Can my tires survive being pumped beyond its recommended level for a couple hours, so long as I don't drive on it for more than a mile later to get the air pressure readjusted? I have an hour commute home, so I'm worried that my safety might be compromised by the tires being overinflated for a couple hours.
Also, I noticed a chunk out of one of my tires--I hope this isn't additionally problematic.
On Friday (outside temperature 2 degrees), my TPMS started alarming the usual (CHECK TYRE PRESSURE). So I looked at the display and all four "tyres" had an exclamation point. So I took out my $1 tire pressure gauge and all four tires were 44 psi. After re-setting the TPMS, all is back to normal.
I wonder what happened there?
The other night I was driving home and my tps light came on, Wasn't sure if it fluctuated because of the weather. So I waited until the morning, checked the light and it was still on. I checked the pressure of the tires (stock) and they were all around 36, I checked the door panel and it said they should be 41. I filled them up to 41, however the light did not go off. I held the reset button and it went off and hasn't come on. It didn't blink when it came on. It popped on and was solid.
View 5 RepliesI just got st coils and apr stg1 software put in my car and love it. the question i have is the other day my tpms light came on, so when the guys installed my software (today) the tried to set the pressures and clear the light and it wont go off i want to take it to the dealer but I don't want them to give me a hard time about the mods.
View 3 RepliesSwitched my wheels at Discount Tires/America's Tires and for some reason my TPMS warning light won't go away. It's been more than 24hrs and I've driven over 100 miles, even put the tires to 42psi but still the warning light won't go away. The shop did rebuilt the TPMS due to the wheel change but it's nothing out of the ordinary so I am not sure what's going on here.

Well Saturday I start my car and i have a tire pressure low warning lit up in the MFD (no TMPS light lit up just the words in the MFD)
Due to laziness i didn't check anything till today, had the warning every time i started the car
We have just started having cold nights, so I figured i check the PS anyway today and im at 22 PSI all around. Odd that i was notified with no TPMS.
I added air to 32 PSI all around and the warning stayed on until i left the car for about 30 min then the warning was gone.
A message appears on my dashboard "Check Tires." The pressures are OK...

View 24 RepliesStarted my treg this morning and got the tire pressure warning. Cchecked in convenience setup to see which one had low pressure, and it indicated all four tires were low. Filled tires up and checked pressure again (manually using digital gauge) and they were correct. Started up treg and still got tire pressure warning for all four tires.
View 4 RepliesHad my winter tires put on today and the tpms warning light came on. Tire pressure is ok. Never had this issue before with these tires/wheels. This would be the third winter with them. Is there a way to reset the warning light on a 2010? I have read about doing this on later models but nothing on the 2010. I do not have vagcom tools. Hoping I do not have to take to dealer.
