Picked up my new Mk7 last night, but I have an issue with the sunroof. It slides back and closes just fine, but won't tilt! How to fix this? I have a VCDS if needed.

Today my sunroof tilted open all by itself while I was driving, then it closed it by itself. Then it did it all over again.
A week ago it tilted open, I closed it by moving the switch to full open, then close.
In another post ("Sunroof Problem") I found one mention of this problem and the switch was the culprit.
I had to have the switch replaced?
So recently, on steep inclines or declines, the sunroof will tilt open to the first notch, all on its own. Sometimes it goes back, sometimes I have to turn it open and close it again. Nothing has changed, it just randomly started doing it in my driveway a few weeks ago (relatively steep driveway) I was parked on the slope with the car on, and it was just opening and closing and opening and closing.

View 10 RepliesProblem I'm having with my sunroof on my '10 GTI. The sunroof opens an inch and makes cracking/grinding noises. Then it needs a push on the actual glass while turning the nob in order to force it to close. And the tilt function ends up with one corner of the glass further down then the other. How to fix this problem or how to remove the headliner, or if it is worth bringing to the dealer? The dealer is the last thing i want to do because my warranty is up and those jerks charge an arm and a leg on labor alone.
View 3 RepliesI have purchased a used 2006 GS430, The sunroof never worked since I had taken ownership the sunroof does not open or tilt not a sound, I checked the fuse under the drivers dash and looked at what looks like a main fuse (#67) in the engine compartment alongside the battery both fuses looked good and I have disconnected the battery for 30 minutes to reset any minor faults, I have also tried holding the sunroof buttons for 30 seconds and still nothing.

View 14 RepliesI can't believe I did it, but I did. It was supposed to be a dry day here, and I left the sunroof tilted to allow for heat escape!
Well, massive downpour lasted more than an hour! and natch, prayers to the contrary, lots of water got in (not as bad as if it had been totally opened!)
So, the headliner is somewhat damaged. With the tilt, it seems like the water seeped in, possibly more than if it had been opened -- but I won't test that theory.
I figure the seats et al will dry out, but is there anything I can do to set the headliner as it dries? Or will I have to get it replaced?
2 days ago, our 1996 G20'S sun roof slid open as normal. Unfortunately It would not slide back to a closed position. The roof's motor can be heard running when both switches are depressed (for either function) ; sliding and tilting. The roof will no longer do either function. I was able to pull the sun roof closed by hand but could not make the back edge of the glass rise up to be sealed closed completely. Obviously it became disengaged from the motor somehow. Would it be somewhat possible for me to get inside of the roof to hook it all back together/replace parts ? Is the location of the motor behind the sunroof control panel?

View 4 RepliesMy 2008 has about 49k miles on her and my Moonroof started acting up the other day. The tilt function works perfectly. It even slides out to max open, however when I attempt to close it, it closes about 2/3 of the way then it acts as if it senses something in the way and opens all the way back up. I didn't take anything apart, but didn't notice anything in the rails. I also didn't hear any sort of grinding or stalling on the motor. If the motor is going bad?
View 2 RepliesI just picked up my new 2010 Golf TDI and one thing I really miss is the passenger side mirror tilting down when I am in reverse. It is really handy for parallel parking. My Passat and BMW both have this feature and I would love to be able to do it here.
View 13 RepliesOver the past 6 months my side view mirrors have been getting finicky about tilting down. In other directions they move fine (left, right, up).
I just tried replacing the mirror switch, and it didn't fix anything; the exact same symptoms are there. Here's what I observe
* Neither the driver nor passenger side mirrors will aim down
* Left/Right/Up all work fine
* Occasionally (but rarely), they will suddenly work.
* Replacing the switch fixed nothing
* I also checked the wiring from the door to the switch and there were no visible cracks or damage, and the pins were well seated in the plug.
* Holding the mirror control in 'down' and wiggling the wiring makes no difference.
* I have a 2 door '13 Golf R (posting in GTI forum because it's more active).
* I have heated mirrors, but no folding or auto-dip.
I saw a number of posts on mods, and a couple on switch issues but in all of those installing a new switch seemed to do the trick.
So my 04 GLS Jetta has had this issue for a while and I would like to find out why. If I pull the button for the trunk in the drivers door or press the button my key to open the trunk, nothing happens. The lights will flash when I press the button on the key but no sound comes from the trunk. Same goes for the trunk release button in the door. No sound. The only way I can open the trunk is to use the actual key and while I turn the key, I have to press down on the trunk. Turning the key alone will not open the trunk. It only opens when I press down on the trunk and turn the key.
Is this normal if the trunk release motor on the trunk goes out? I also have had the trunk open and did the button in the door and the key with nothing happening. How to troubleshoot this?
So, I'm pulling my hair out now. I loaned my car to a friend for a few months while I was out of the country and now that I've gotten it back, the rear hatch will only open with the key. I've searched online for days and tried several things but, nothing is working. Here's what's going on and what I've tried.
The back opens perfectly with the key (i.e. there's nothing stuck in the latch)
When I use the fob, the lights flash but the actuator doesn't move (there's no noise other than the lights flashing)
When I pull the switch in the drivers door nothing happens (can't remember if the lights are supposed to flash or not but they DON'T now)
When I lift on the handle in the trunk nothing happens
I've pulled the interior back hatch cover off and tried to activate the actuator using a 9V battery and it did nothing so, I thought it was a dead actuator. I just dropped $60 on a new one, plugged it in, shut the hatch and nothing happened....
I don't have access to VAGCOM or anything like that so, hopefully there are things that I can test w/o that?
Ok this may be a dumb post, but my MK6 Jetta 2.5 SE didn't come with footwell lighting that turns on when the door opens up. I want to know if there is at least a PLACE for one that I can install easily?
or is there a way I can get a footwell lighting kit that I can buy and install?
