Golf/GTI VII :: Parking Sensors Malfunction
Nov 14, 2014
I live in the Cleveland area and we got pelted with snow yesterday. For the most part, the car did great. Great traction and visibility while driving on low lit roads...It was only 28 degrees so it threw the warning for black ice which caught me off guard lol.
Then as I'm going to stop I hear beep beep beep beep beep!!!!
The parking sensors start saying there's something in front of me within inches....yet there's nothing within 50 feet. Every time I went under 10mph it kept doing this...well I got home and see that a small layer of snow was covering the sensors. Granted I can turn off the beeping and such but in a place like Cleveland there's usually a ton of snow and I can see this getting annoying really fast. This is my third car with parking sensors and the only one to react to a tiny layer of snow....

I am owner of brand new Golf Sportsvan 1.4 92kw petrol, 6 speed manual. Since day two ive been noticeing that something might be wrong with my car. Second day of ownership i was greeted by TPMS, ESC, Auto hold and Stop start system error all at once, and parking sensors were beeping and button was flashing. Ive been reading about it and its not new for MK7 owners as i can understand. But what worries me most is the revs when the engine is cold and i start it up first time. Did a video and uploaded it. [URL] .....
Weird thing is i only get errors when its cold start, i mean for example yesterday and today it was cold here (-5 degrees celcsius) and car started up with no errors, but the revs where bouncing up and down like seen on video. Sometimes i get those 4 errors aswell and rev problem, sometimes only rev problem, but when the engine is at the working temperature i get no errors, no shakey revs.
Otherwise love the car. Solid build quality, Spacious, Like the pyramid gold color, lovely car, beside those gremlins.

What speakers do the Parking Sensors use? Do they have their own?
If you replace the radio head unit with an Aftermarket one, do you lose the Parking Sensor beeps....?

I have some problems with my 2001 Volvo V70 about its light sensors and tailgate sensor.
Starting from this spring, every time when I turned the right-turn signal light on, the bulb fail message will pop up in the dashboard even though there is no bulb failing. Also, it starts to state that my tailgate is not closed while I drive it during the sunny day.. (That means, it will become normal during the raining day...) The problem that accompanies with the tailgate issue is the cargo light sensor malfunctioning. Sometimes it light up all the day while driving, sometimes will not turn-on at all; but sometimes work normal during the raining day.
What could be the core of these problems? I don't want to take it to the repair shop for a whole day, and still can not find out the issue..

I have a 2007 Prius 90'000km with new 12V battery from last year. The problem I have is that the front parking sensors won't turn off when I park my car close to an object and shut the engine off. This fully drain my battery and I have to jump start the car everytime I switch it on. The technician from Toyota repair shop couldn't fix it and proposed to switch the front parking sensors off by unplugging the switch under the wheel. That didn't fix the problem at all since it didn't deactivate the front parking sensor but only deactivated the switch.

I wonder, how will we know if/when the parking assist sensors stop working? Will the display be missing some of the yellow lights or will we have to find out the hard way?

When I put the gear on reverse, parking sensors beep even there is nothing behind the car! I tried to clean the surface by my finger!
The Last time that they worked pretty well was before I unplug and plug the power cable of my stereo system while battery cables were connected!
Can the problem coming from for that? How can I take the sensors out and clean them fully? Do you think disconnecting the battery for one minute can work?

So I've seen a lot of people on here wrapping the mid section of the front bumper black to give it a more aggressive look.
For those that have done this, will I need to cut a hole for the sensors or will the sensors still work with the wrap covering them?

How is it possible that the 350 F-Sport can track cars that are possibly coming at you while you're backing up, but it can't alert you to when you're getting close to a wall or other car that is stationary (aka parking senors).. Although I did back into a space yesterday and got no beeps as the car got closer to the other cars in the camera.
Another thing is having radar assist cruise control and no front parking assist... what's up with this craziness? The systems are actually installed in the car, but not able to beep at you?!

About 2 months ago my Touareg was rear-ended. I just got it back from the body shop and am finding little things that are not the same and I am wondering if they just need reprogramming or if these could be a bigger issue (going back to the body shop today)?
1. They replaced the entire liftgate, but the rear wiper is not working even though the washer fluid does.
2. The interior lights are on, even though all doors are shut, when the switch is set to the open door setting.
3. There is no beep when I lock my vehicle with the keyfob, but the lights blink.
4. There are no warning beeps for the parking sensors, even though the dash lights up.

80% of the time my parking sensors are always on, like something is behind the truck. 20% of the time they work just fine.
I replaced all 4 sensors today with ones off ebay and I get the same thing.
Anything else I can try before I have to take it to the dealer?
The originals and my new ones all clicked when I put my ear up to them.

I have a 2008 LS. The buzzer for my front parking assist sensors is significantly louder than when the buzzer sounds for the rear sensors. I have adjusted the buzzer volume to the loudest position (#5), but the volume of the buzzer when the rear sensors activate is still much lower than for the front sensors.
The indicators on the nav screen for all the sensors are working properly. Do you find the volume is different between the front and rear sensors or do I have a problem?
I am asking because I inadvertently backed out of a driveway into a car that was parked directly across the street. I do not recall hearing the sensor sound before I hit the other car. At the time, my sensor volume was set on #3. When I checked, I could barely hear the buzzer from the rear sensors, but could clearly hear the buzzer from the front sensors. Resetting the buzzer volume to #5 has worked a bit, but I still wish the buzzer for the rear was louder.

My work truck that I drive, a 2006 F-150 Lariat 4x4 extended cab, rear parking sensors quit working. The button on the dash is lit up all the time like when you shut it off. I posted this on the F-150 section too and was able to find a suggestion that you can listen to each sensor while in reverse and if you don't hear a clicking at the sensor it has failed. All (4) sensors are clicking away while in reverse so not sure what else to check, no one in the F150 section, so that is why I put it here.

We purchased a used 2012 a couple of months ago and have had no issues with it. A few weeks ago it was in an accident and mostly sat at the body shop for the next two weeks. Got it back a week ago and seemed to work fine for commuting for the next week. Then let it sit for two days and then the next day drove it for a few short trips over a couple of hours. Everything seemed fine. Next morning it won't start. "P lock malfunction when parking, park in flat place and apply parking brake securely. Shift to P position and push power switch to turn off". Cannot shift into D; can shift into N; pushing P button doesn't illuminate the LED on the button or move it out of N.
Searching this error indicates often caused by failing 12V battery, and I can see that might be the problem given the age and the abuse the battery has taken the last few weeks. The battery reads 11.84V when car is off and 11.45V when "on" showing the error. I can replace the 12V battery. Is there some other simple diagnostic I can do?
Alternate explanations are, something got buggered in the accident that didn't surface until now or the groundhog we shooed out from under the car right before it wouldn't start was chewing on something.

I've read as much info as I'm willing to digest and everything seemed to point at the switch. Replaced switch. I went through a recommended adaption sequence and I'm back to square one. warning light for [P] - traction control light - display says Parking Brake Fault See Owners Manual. And there are codes for Parking Brake Control Head Electronic Malfunction...

Got my OZ wheels on, with a new set of TPMS sensors. The old sensors stayed with the OEM wheels for winter tires. How do I reset the system to recognize the new sensors? I have a VAG-COM kit, is this required or is there a method to do this through the MFD?

This isnt my first vw but its my first vr6, its a 2000 gti glx, only showing codes for o2 sensors havent got a vag com yet only have a obd scanner. It idles fine and runs smooth until i get over quarter throttle then it starts hesitating like there isnt enough fuel or air...i know that the noob owner i bought it from cheaply put exhaust on it and i didnt see any o2 sensors but ive never known a car to not run correctly without them.

Looking to get some Neuspeed wheels put on my MK7. Looking for info on moving the sensors to the new wheels or just do without them. Tire places are wanting to charge like 100-150 dollars more just to move them over. If i choose not to use them, will i get an error? Is it even a good idea to not put them on the wheels?

I have the windows/sunroof close via rain sensor enabled through vagcom. I go to the MFD but every time I select it on, it'll reset and turn off when I turn the car off and on. Why? Can't get it to stay on.
Also, to not start a new thread. What the Manual Door Lock option in the MFD does? It gives you the option of all doors or individual. I looked in the manual but still don't understand what it does.
