So I have a 2015 SE DSG. I'm getting the irritating popping noise, at no particular speed, coming from what sounds to be the middle/rear. It is lowered on H&R coilover, which I have checked over and over again to make sure everything is tight. It started about 500 miles ago, and the Coilovers have been on for about 6000 miles, the car just hit 7000 miles.
View 1 Repliesso my r32 recently started making a nasty popping noise. the sound seems to either be coming from something in the rear end or drive shaft. not sure why it happened. i went on a 2 hour trip. got there parked it. aired it down (bags) but then when i came back and when to drive it again. it all of a sudden it started making a horrible popping noise. i thought it was the front wheel bearing going out since i knew it need to be replaced but i did that today and its still making the noise.
The noise sound just like a RWD car with a welded diff when it turns. kinda has that locked rear end hop popping noise. i lifted the whole car off the ground and put it in first to let the tires spin in the air but of course theres no weight on them so it doesn't make any noise. i'm really stumped on what it could be. im going to take the driveshaft off and see if it still dose it. then i know its for sure in the rear end. What it could be?
I've had my R sitting on KW variant 1 coils for about a month now. When I first installed the coils, I adjusted them WAY too low for my liking (looked flawless but wasnt practical for my driving conditions). On my first couple of drives, I noticed a "popping" sound at very low speeds (like when exiting a parking spot) when turning my steering wheel. It was as though my wheels would turn to a certain point and "pop," it sounds like something popped out of place. If I move my steering wheel back and forth to repeat the popping sound, the sound does NOT repeat (it only happens once in awhile).
With the car stationary, I have looked into the wheel wells with my friends turning the wheels and I dont see anything rubbing. I have since raised the car VERY slightly (still sits on about a 1/2 finger gap) and still, when I first get in the car in the morning and pull out of my garage, I hear this slight pop.
I am planning on doing the "tab mod" on my fenders this weekend because I am rubbing on the tab on high speed turns, but I don't think this has anything to do with the popping. The car drives fine and my friends and I have installed coils tons of times without any problems.
2000 Excursion V10 4x4. I'm getting a popping noise coming from the rear end when I apply the brakes and come to a complete stop and when I release the brakes to take off. It only happens the moment it comes to a complete stop and the moment it takes off. Not when I'm putting it in forward or reverse or accelerating or decelerating. U joints are fine. I was laying under the truck poking around the other day and when I roll it back and forth in park the few inches it'll go, when it comes to the end of it's travel the axle wraps a little and it seems like the transfer case output shaft flange is moving in and out of the transfer case and causing the noise. I'm assuming there is a snap ring holding the output bearing in place. I didn't have time to drop the driveshaft but am planning on it this weekend to see if it still does it when I roll it and to inspect the transfer case. I need to check to make sure the driveshaft splines are not seized up but they seem to have a little free play to them.
View 2 RepliesI've had my car for 7 years now and it's a love / hate relationship. I probably put more money in maintaining the car than upgrades. So, I have the kw club sports, front and rear neuspeed sway bars, neuspeed front strut bar, and neuspeed control arms. I lost track of how long its been since I've been hearing this popping noise but it occurs almost every time i leave my drive way.
The drive way is not flat. It dips down then comes up to the street. When reversing two tires come of ground, the front left and back right. When that happens, something pops from the rear... Recently it has come to the point when i take a right turn, i hear a pop from the rear.(not all the time). I told my mechanic to check the sway bar bushings but apparently that not the problem. Suspension shocks and springs are fine.
I have a 08 r32, hearing a popping noise that sound like its coming from fuel tank. When sitting not running in garage, bout 15 to 20 seconds between pops. Maybe evap system? Just notice after filling up with gas.
View 4 Replies2001 vr6 manual... I have a popping noise that comes from my suspension. it is in the front, and it has gradually gotten worse over the last month or so. It used to happen when i back out of my drive way only, but now it happens when accelerating from a stop, quickly braking or turning at low speeds. Recently its getting worse and i can start to feel it in my steering wheel sometimes. It doesn't feel like a wheel bearing. Is it bushings? Tie rod? CV Joints? Strut Mount?
View 2 RepliesAlmost every single time I put my .:R in reverse and the car starts moving I hear a popping noise with pauses in between each pop. I think it might be a ball joint and the noise is coming from the front passenger side.

About a week ago I started getting a popping noise in the left rear suspension when going over speed bumps or up my driveway from the street at certain angles. I could not find any evidence of the springs binding, but did notice that there was some separation of rubber around the plastic center of the rubber mount beneath the spring. This likely the problem or loose sub frame bolts?

I have recently notice a single "pop" noise that seems to be coming from the rear when I turn right with a sharp turn.
I have looked in the trunk and under the vehicle but I cannot find where it is coming from.
Car has a weird shaking or vibrating coming from the middle or the rear of the car, I can't really describe it. You can only notice it at low speeds, and it's only noticeable after you drive for a while, it doesn't happen immediately. It happens whether you press on the brake or not, just while driving. I'm not sure how I should handle the situation either. I changed my rotors and brake pads because I thought that might have been the problem, but it turned out it wasn't.
I took it to the dealer, they said it was the end links that were loose so they changed that. It didn't fix the problem. I took the car back, and they checked it out, they couldn't locate the problem. They put it on the lift, said it wasn't the sway bar, suspension, etc.
They said because I didn't change the "brake pad clips"(I'm not sure what to call them), and they appear to be the original ones that came with the car, I'm not really sure if they are or not, but I know the brake pads were changed once, but maybe that wasn't changed, I need to change them first, and since they looked for a problem and don't want to waste more of their time (basically what they told me, they will start charging me to find the problem now), they will charge me $159 labor + $20 for the part + tax to change it. Now it may or may not fix the problem, that may not be the problem at all, and if it doesn't fix it then I'm out almost $200 for no reason. They said they don't want to waste time, and it's ridiculous to look for a problem with my car. But the problem is it's a vibration or a shaking, and I would think that SHOULD be covered by the warranty.
Should I try taking this to a different dealer, and pretty much never go back there again? Get the part changed myself at a different mechanic shop, as I don't see a reason to spend $179 + tax at Hyundai.
I'm new to vw and I have a passat 3.6 sel premium and I have been hearing a noise coming from my rear suspension when I have a full car or going over speed bumps and such. It took it to the dealer and they said that they couldn't replicate the problem, could it be the control arms or it's bushings? The car is only 6 months old smh.
View 8 RepliesSo on the 16th I had my Koni FSD kit installed with a set of Driver Gear springs (30mm drop) and used the ECS Tuning install kit for both front and rear.
The issue I'm trying to troubleshoot is a 'thunk' noise coming from the rear but only when going over speed bumps or any other major bumps/dips.
So I really don't drive my car much during the year since I'm away at college. Once I got back home a couple weeks ago and drove my 20th, i heard a rattle coming from the middle of the car. Jacked it up and starting banging around. The sound is coming from my resonator. Its either the clamp that is busted or the resonator itself. I have to get in closer to see which it is. But I do have a few questions. If I just cut the resonator cut off and weld a straight pipe to that will it be much louder. I have a stock 20th and I'm not really looking for a loud exhaust at the moment. Is it much louder without the resonator? I know if you put a straight pipe in place of the muffler it is MUCH louder so I'm just curious.

Are the sedan seats(tops) interchangeable- will they work in a wagon? This is my Plan B if I can't get my current belt to work
So I'm experiencing a very irritating rattle at about 2000rpm under acceleration. I've only noticed it in sport mode. Seems to be coming from the front of the center console.
View 10 RepliesCurrently doing a road trip in my R and I've noticed after a considerable amount of time on the road, there's a howl noise emanating from the rear when keeping speed. Goes away under light acceleration. I can even hear it over the radio. After resting the car and me (12 hrs) I get back on the road and after a couple of hours the howl comes back. Is it the rear diff? I don't think it's wheel bearings. Tires have a different noise. 2013 R w/ 4000 miles. Or is it just what happens when you drive for hours on end?
View 15 RepliesSo I've had my R now for almost 6 months now and my PSS10's have been in it since day 1. I bought the car approx 4 months used with 8200kms on it. It's now at 16600km's.
Ever since I've had it, there's been a front end suspension noise that reminds me very much of the typical upper strut mount bearing and bushing noises. It's like a popping sound.
It only happens at low speed(parking lot) but with most moves like fwd, rev, turns and straight lines. The upper strut mount bearings and bushings were just replaced < 2 weeks ago, but it still does it and just as bad.
I am getting an irritating squeaky sound when driving around and I have targeted the sound to be coming from the rear side interior panels on the passenger side. I discovered the sound while sitting in the far back 3rd row bench while someone drove me and ran over reflectors on the road (this is one way I could find to recreate the sound) and if you push a lil bit against the "pillar" area on those side interior panels at the rear you can easily hear it but when driving it becomes quite a bit annoying. I have thought about taking out both the lower and upper portions of the panels and maybe trying to dampen it a little by putting some electric tape in certain areas and areas that come to contact with the other panel.
