So I'm experiencing a very irritating rattle at about 2000rpm under acceleration. I've only noticed it in sport mode. Seems to be coming from the front of the center console.
View 10 RepliesMy '03 gives a rattle sound under load/acceleration conditions. This does not happen during the warm up period, so it appears that the engine runs lean under acceleration. There is no check engine light on for this. Approx 172k KM, (100k miles). The noise appears worse when it is hot/humid outside. I have run a can of Seafoam through it (half in the crankcase, half in the fuel line), and that doesn't seem to have worked. Therefore, I don't think that it is the injectors. Possibly fuel filter (still original)? Any easy way to test?
View 8 RepliesI just got my wife a 2000 Echo with 224,000kms on the odo. Everything appears to be fine other than a mystery rattling noise under light acceleration. If I were to describe it, it sounds as if a box of rocks were to be shaken around. Or like a rattling loose chain... <------ definitely hope it's not that!
From a search, it seems like others have encountered this strange noise but have not reach what the cause is.
From what I gather, the timing chains on these motors are literally never touched and should last the life of the vehicle.
So I have a 2015 SE DSG. I'm getting the irritating popping noise, at no particular speed, coming from what sounds to be the middle/rear. It is lowered on H&R coilover, which I have checked over and over again to make sure everything is tight. It started about 500 miles ago, and the Coilovers have been on for about 6000 miles, the car just hit 7000 miles.

Pretty much since the first day I noticed a slight rattle coming from the middle or right side of the dash/engine bay, only under acceleration (I'm assuming under boost). You need all the windows up and radio off to hear it, but it is definitely there 8/10 times I push the gas. I know others have talked about the fuel line rattle, are the symptoms the same?

I hear the same noise while stopped and revving the engine as well as when driving if I let off the throttle and let the RPM's sweep down past the same rev range (1,800-2,000). Sounds like it's coming from the passenger side area.
I'm under warranty so I'm going to take it to the dealership...but I know how they can be with rattles.
My friend has 2000 12v vr6 auto and recently he experienced his car bogging under acceleration. He had the plugs and wires recently done to solve the problem and the problem went away for a day and has since returned. I scanned it and here are the codes that its threw. After doing some research i'm thinking its the coil pack, since it was pretty foggy/damp today (when the problem started again).
17626.p1218 - fuel injector for cylinder 6 (N84): short to b+
16690.p0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected
16684.p0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
But I have noticed over the past week of driving, whenever the RPMs are around 1000-2000, it is very hard for me to pick up speed, and I can feel a little bit of a rumble/vibration through the steering wheel. So...
If I feather the gas, the RPM increases slightly and you can hear/feel the engine rumble/vibrate. The speed doesn't really increase...
If I hit the gas more than 1/2 way down, turbo kicks in and the car shoots forward.
Is this normal? I find it very hard to add a little bit of acceleration if I feather it, the engine seems to be resisting it, if I hit it any harder, the turbo kicks in around 2500 RPMs. It almost feels as if it is in too high of a gear and the engine has a hard time accelerating a little bit...This is around ~40-60KM/hr
I am getting an irritating squeaky sound when driving around and I have targeted the sound to be coming from the rear side interior panels on the passenger side. I discovered the sound while sitting in the far back 3rd row bench while someone drove me and ran over reflectors on the road (this is one way I could find to recreate the sound) and if you push a lil bit against the "pillar" area on those side interior panels at the rear you can easily hear it but when driving it becomes quite a bit annoying. I have thought about taking out both the lower and upper portions of the panels and maybe trying to dampen it a little by putting some electric tape in certain areas and areas that come to contact with the other panel.
View 13 RepliesI bought a luxury truck from a GMC dealer. This truck had a $35k sticker price and came with leather, buttons, dual climate etc. Loved the truck for 1 day. The first morning in my driveway, I opened the driver door and this low irritating sound was coming out of the dashboard. Drove round trip Phoenix to Tulsa cringing.
First dealer visit- total mystery, not everyone can hear the sound, service bulletin appears and diagnosed as a transmission solenoid; normal noise; not covered. Second dealer visit- I'm hearing things, another service bulletin claims the sound is from the cd motor; normal sound; not covered. The last visit I had them pull the radio- sound went away; reattached the radio and the sound comes back.
Did an internet search "irritating sound radio GMC." A lot of people have found this sound and the cause is said to be the radio cooling fan.
I recently replaced the wipers on my 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited. The new wipers are a rather expensive one-piece design that tends to bounce along the windshield producing an irritating noise. Never had this problem with the original equipment wipers. I have cleaned the wipers with alcohol, which temporarily improves the situation but the problem quickly returns. Only relief comes during major downpours.
View 4 RepliesSo, coming home tonight, I had a new error pop up that I haven't seen before - TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT - combined with an extremely irritating flashing TPMS light.
I had new tires put on last week... have right at 102K on the truck now. It's an 09 XLT Screw 6.5' bed 4x2.
What will be the possible cause? Is it at all likely that the sensor was damaged during the tire install? I don't want to give the tire shop a hard time if it wasn't their fault, but the timing seems a bit of a coincidence.
I'm having a trouble when accelerating at low rpm the engine begins to rattle. Tried removing the connector plug on the egr, to my surprise the rattle is gone but the engine light comes on saying that the EGR circuit is incomplete. Took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it to be the EGR valve opening but failing to close, so they instead proposed to fill in gas with a bottle of their injector cleaner. That made no difference, so tried replacing the EGR valve but again makes no difference. What could the culprit be?
View 11 RepliesI believe I have a spark plug issue although I am assured that they have been replaced in enough time to not have a problem. I'm am having acceleration issues, losing power over time, misfires and engine deceleration. I also now have a rattle that sounds like it is coming from my muffler only upon acceleration. It seems to be getting louder over time as well. This coupled with a rough idle and an over heated engine when the ac was on its cause for worry. Could the rattle be connected?

My 2006 Prius now has 60,XXX miles and the other day while driving with the windows down, I was climbing a hill to my house and when the engine is at a certain RPM, there is a metallic sound that comes from under the car, but more in the front. You can't even hear it when the windows are up barley, but more when they are down, you can hear it, especially when you're beside a wall or guard rail and the sound can reverberate back.

When I accelerate or rev, the car has a rattling sound coming from the passenger side. If i take the car out of gear and slow down or let it idle, the noise disappears completely.
I have a slight ticking/rattle noise under light acceleration. When I get on the on ramp and start accelerating as the rpms go up there is a sweet spot at lower rpm where you can hear it rattle and as the rpms increase it suddenly stops. Its not tied directly to the RPM, but seems to be harmonic or related to a certain frequency. I haven't been able to recreate it in the parking lot. Water pump seems ok, no visible leakage. Hasn't thrown any codes and doesn't sound like pinging/bad gas.

I had the just alignment professionally checked, and it's spot on, but it seems to pull to the left still.
My gfs car (2012 accent) makes a rattle but more specifically it makes this rattle in about 3 gear under acceleration but not heavy acceleration (slow accelerate in a higher gear) at about 1500-2k rpm it makes a rattle and if i really get on it in the gear it keeps going, the second i let off then get back on (lightly) no noise but when you depress the pedal a little hard it does it again (auto trans by the way) I've heard of this before only issue is I don't remember where or who (useless, and wasn't a hyundai accent) anyway anything would be useful, car isn't under warranty so trying to stay out of dealership...
