View 19 RepliesFrom all I can see, the fuel tank capacity on my '12 should be 17.5 gallons.
As I finish up a trip with it, I know I've "pushed the envelope" as far as fuel range is according to the guage/computer. I get the warning that I need to refuel and that I have 50 miles to empty, but I've driven 40 miles into that last range before refueling, and only been able to put 14 or so gallons into the tank.
My question is: If I were to drive until it literally runs out of gas, then fill it, would the guage/computer recalibrate or do I need to install a new fuel sensor?
I get the warning as the guage indicates just under 1/4 tank remaining, and I have yet to run it until the guage indicates that it's actually on empty (family and dog are with me so risking it is currently out). I'm hoping that the guage itself knows what the real deal is and that the computer is just not with it.... OH, FWIW full is EXACTLY on the "full" line and not over as in my Kia.
Can't fill the tank in my 1981 Chevy 1500 Truck; pump cuts off after 7 gallons. I took the vent tube and the fill hose off and there are no blockages.

On my 2012 F250 with 19k miles I have NEVER been able to fill tank with more than 22.4 gallons of diesel fuel. That was the day I ran out of diesel going to fill up thinking I had 26 gallons. Once the light comes on I'm filling up, I have every tank fill DOCUMENTED with (date/cost/gals/trip/$per gal).
Talked to local dealer Raleigh, NC , their explanation was fuel pickup was raised to prevent contaminates from getting into injectors. They advertise 26 gallons, should be able to access 26 gallons.
Noticed the dirt that collects around the oil fill cap?? What are you all doing to get that stuff out of there. Mine was filled with loose dirt when I was checking my oil today and didn't want any of the dirt to go down into the cam area. Looks poorly designed.
I noticed most of the dirt when I took the cap off. Seems like cleaning with a cloth would just push it into the cam area.
What I should use to fill the holes on my front bumper? I know how to get paint to make it blend in but what should I use as a filler?
View 1 RepliesI have lost fuel pressure within 10 minutes of a fill up. I have an APR Stage2+ set up. I have added octane booster . Fault codes are showing loss of pressure. Is it possible my HPFP rebuild has taken after like 15K miles?:bang head: Also could be clogged fuel filter or injector I am aware.
View 9 RepliesI just replaced my radiator in my vr6 jetta. I've replaced my coolant before, with this same problem, but it never affected anything and did not find any answers. But here's the deal. It filled with about 2 gallons of mixed coolant. No noticeable air bubble sounds, coolant flows back into the reservoir. I opened my top rad hose and poured coolant in also. It is not overheating. My heater is also hot, no problems there. It just seems suspicious that my car takes so little coolant, and runs just fine. I also flushed the system with my garden hose, and let all the water drain out.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 GTI manual 6 speed with 18K very gently driven miles. Yesterday I noticed coolant on the garage floor and checked the reservoir which was below the fill line.
Went to dealer this morning .....bad water pump. I asked if this was unusual for such a new car with low miles and service writer said yes. After googling water pump failures of GTi's I learned this was not the case.
Now that the summer has finally arrived the southern Finland I found a problem with my climate control. When the car gets hot from the sun and the climate control starts cooling it takes up to 2 minutes until I get cold air from the vents. It doesn't matter if I let it run on the AUTO-mode or that I turn the temperature all the way to the LOwest position with full "thrust".
I checked the service history of my car and the AC has been serviced and filled last summer. (the basic fast service method). I didn't want to service it again since I'm afraid that all that money would have gone to waste. I haven't found any leaks tho. The radiator is pretty beaten up from all the debris and road salt tho.
I just bought a new 2017 Santa Fe Sport in May, have 1500 miles on it. I STRONGLY suspect that I have a 14 gal fuel tank rather than the 17.4 gal as advertised. I have never been able to put more than 12.5 gallons in it, even when on E, and I mean E, like -- Empty. The P/N # on the tank reads 31151-47000, but since the SF is brand new, I cannot locate the correct P/N number.
I called the dealer and they stated that according to their OEM specs, that vehicle SHOULD have only a 14 gal tank which makes no sense as it is NOT what is advertised, and would be smaller than a Tucson. Dealer told me Hyundai does not even make a 17.4 gal tank.
The dealer told me they would "get with region" and call me back within 2 days. That was 10 days ago. I am not expecting to fill up my tank 17 gallons each time, but you cannot tell me that there is a 5 gallon "reserve" in my fuel tank.
The backup camera under the vw logo staying open. Mine takes at least 10 seconds to close, and if I don't wait and turn off the car, it will remain open which prevent you from opening the hatch. It's become extremely annoying, especially Christmas shopping in the rain!!
View 11 RepliesI'm bench testing my starter and wanted to make sure that it's working as it should before I install it. The plunger comes out and the gear spins as expected, but it takes a second for the gear to pop back in after I disconnect it. I'm worried that it might get stuck on the flywheel if the return spring isn't working as it should.
View 4 RepliesI have a 03 vw jetta gli and whenever the engine is warm when it was recently on, takes a while to start like 3-5 second but normal when it is a cold start..
View 6 Replies2012 Golf GTI, bone stock, 18k miles. The issue is pretty straightforward. It takes longer to crank than I feel it should, perhaps 5-6 seconds, sometimes the car is cold, sometimes warm. Sometimes it cranks right up with no issue. A VCDS scan is clean. This is Atlanta weather too, so the temps are pretty mild.
View 6 RepliesTransmission Issue I am having with my Mk6 GTI DSG. When the car comes to a complete stop and you need to accelerate quickly to get on to incoming traffic, for example, the car takes a couple of seconds to engage. This behavior is becoming very annoying! I've been looking around about this issue. Some say that they have had a problem with the DSG Valve Body (Mechatronics Unit) and others say it might be the DSG Break Sensor. I am no expert but I would presume the Sensor Would be cheaper than the Valve Body. I would like to try and replace the sensor first and then see if I need to replace the Valve Body.
View 8 RepliesSummary of Events:
Lower radiator hose decided to disconnect itself.
Stopped and had car towed home.
Connected hose and filled coolant system.
Car is hesitant to start and takes a couple seconds of cranking.
Misfires in cylinder 3, and a few in cylinder 5, no other codes.
New OEM plugs, no change.
Swapped coil packs around, no change.
Idle is rough but at speed, everything is smooth.
How many miles and/or gallons are available when one is down to the last "blip" of the 10 blips showing the gas level?
I have gotten anywhere from 79 to 92 miles in the highest blip. I have gotten 43-50 miles on the second to last blip. Today I got 30 miles out of the last blip and it took a hair over 9 gallons to fill up the tank. I feared that I was cutting it pretty close.
I was just wondering how many miles I might expect to get out of that last blip. My normal MPG is 42-47 MPG. But the MPG really seems to go down as one gets towards the lower blips. Is there some kind of warning when one gets really low?
How many gallons do you have left when your light goes on? My car is a lil off topic I have a 2013 Rio but notice that the gas light came on and I still had 4 gallons left........
View 24 RepliesI have a 1994 lincoln towncar, 55,000 original miles. I accidently put 3 gallons of E 85 in it. Then added 20 gallons of mid grade unleaded. Will my engine be damaged?
View 19 RepliesSo I have a 2005 GTI 1.8t and I just recently had a new fuel filter/fuel pump installed.. Now ever morning when I go to start it it starts really hard.. once it's starts it runs fine it just takes me a couple cranks to get it started....
