Golf/GTI VII :: 2016 - Bumper And Fender Too Tightly Tightened
Oct 8, 2015
Seems that they tightened the bumper and fender too tight that they're currently rubbing and some paint seems to be chipping.

View 24 RepliesI just got my car back from the body shop after a front end accident and they replaced the bumper, hood, and headlights. However they said the fenders were fine. Now i'm noticing about a quarter inch difference (on both sides) where the bumper meets the fender. Could this be because the fenders bent slightly too or because it's a brand new bumper?
View 11 RepliesSo, after washing my car, I noticed something orange/brown between my rear bumper and rear fender... it's rust. So, what should I do? I know it will only spread but since it's on the rear quaterpanel, it's not easily replaceable unless I cut the metal or sand it down and repaint it. Should I go to the dealer and see what they say?
View 2 RepliesNoticed with the colder weather that when I first start moving and turning tightly, (lets say out of a parking space both backing out or pulling forward) there is a sound coming from the rear end that sounds like a heavy treaded mud tire rubbing on an inner fender. Tried to read up on it and most posts say change your Haldex fluid, but unfortunately I haven't found a thread that says whats happening. I haven't changed the fluid yet and will. (it is at 16,430 since the last change so its getting close as is). When I engage the parking break one click the noise instantly goes away. Am I hearing clutch chatter, pump going out, just dirty or low fluid?
View 5 RepliesLooking for info on these replacements and is there any manuals out there to assist with the process?
View 1 RepliesStarted my car early in the morning, nothing happened. I paused thinking the battery was shot, but then realized that there was smoke coming out of my fender... I jumped out of the car, disconnected the battery terminals and rushed over to see what the hell was on fire/smoking. I popped the hood expecting the engine bay to be engulfed in flames, but to find it was coming out of the inner fender. I looked down by the wheel and the brake line to the caliper was on fire.. I put the fire out and sat there with zero idea on what happened.

View 4 RepliesI had a bad starter solenoid on the fender in my truck I swapped it out and then my starter went so I swapped it now it is not disengaging the starter If I turn the key to the run position it starts cranking and fires right up before I an let the glow plugs cycle or anything and it won't disengage the starter I turn off the truck and the starter is spinning loud for a couple seconds till it stops no matter if it just start the truck or start it and run it for a couple minutes then shut it off. 99 7.3L ....
View 6 RepliesHaving rust issues? I just bought the car and noticed some was touched up with the rear hatch - under the window, right by the seal. Also, right by where the bottom of the door and front fender meet. Looks like it's inside, on the body/frame, not the fender.
I'll probably take it to dealer and hope to have it taken care of. Carfax came back clear so I'm pretty sure no work has been done on it before that would cause this.
Any easy way to get the inner fender back into shape evenly without having to get someone to roll it? Yes my car does have the screw mod, and my wheel fitment is not super extreme. I'm on ST's that are maxed out. This is my first vdub...
View 17 RepliesI want to get the rear fender flares on my dually painted, they had a few scuffs when I bought it & I will soon have some spare time to get it sorted. We can't get the truck in the paint booth so taking them off seems like the ideal solution. I have had a quick look & I think it's just a case of removing the plastic liner (screws & clips) then it looks like there are some nuts up inside the steel fender, disconnect the wiring & they should come off!
View 2 RepliesI own an '03 F250 and have had it since new. I love the truck, keep it in good condition, and plan on keeping it for at least a few more years. For some time now I've had the classic small spots on one rear fender well. The spots are getting a little bigger and look like they're going to come through soon. I'm not a big fan of fender flares, but from what I understand, that's the easiest way to fix the problem, cut the rust out/seal it, install fender flares. Is there any other way to fix the rust without repainting the whole bed? I don't like fender flares because I think they look a little weird with stock tires and also because it's only one fender that is rusting, but I'd have to install them on all four. If fender flares are the only way to go, any that are small and low profile?
View 14 RepliesSo just came out to my car this morning and noticed this horrible paint peeling on my rear drive side fender!! Yes I'm lowered but have stock wheels and 225 tires, impossible to run the outside fender. What caused this? The paint is like paper is just flakes off when I touch it.
View 24 RepliesI recently had need of replacing my left exhaust manifold on a 2000 F250 4 x 4. I removed plastic inner fender well. Now I have a two pin harness with both white wires. One is white with red stripe, the other is white with black stripe. The harness is round with a locking square on one side. The harness is located about 10" from bottom of inner left plastic fender panel. It has 2 mounting pegs. Where the heck does this connect?
View 13 RepliesI have a 2000 F-350 Dually. One of the rear fender lights is not working. Is there a way to check the bulb without pulling the inner liner to access it?
View 5 RepliesWhere I can locate rear fender flares that will match 2011 and up f450 flares? Which flares would cover the f450 front fender flares holes?
View 3 RepliesMy CEL comes on a lot because my gas cap won't stay tightened. I bought this one at Amazon, but it was wrong: [URL]..... It had 2 large tabs, where my cap has a "screw thread". Is there another place I can get an OEM quality cap.
View 2 RepliesThe check engine lamp on my '04 4cyl came on Saturday. I checked the code. It's P0441, which is supposed to be 'Evaporative emission control system incorrect purge.' I found a page on the web that said this might have to do with the gas cap. When I checked the cap it had not been tightened.
I've been driving it for 3 days and the check engine lamp is still on. How long should I expect it to take for it to extinguish? It seems unlikely to the point of incredible the gas cap was left loose (which I've never seen before) and another failure in this very system could have happened simultaneously. Particularly since this is the first time the check engine lamp has come on in 9 years and over 100,000 miles
I own 2001 2.0 Golf (first car) and lately as I drive I constantly hear this noise, it's very obnoxious, sounds like a washing machine going with a hard object in it. It's not continuous, but it doesn't happen rarely. Whenever I go over any bump, the slightest crack etc. I'm guessing it has something to do with the suspension? I'm not really sure since I'm still learning about cars...
View 1 RepliesIf the driver's side fender liner is supposed to have an access panel cover? I was swapping out my side markers today and noticed that my passenger's side has one but not the driver's side. Didn't think to check for something like that during delivery although from looking at the one from the passenger's side, it doesn't seem hard to believe that it could have fallen out due to spirited driving.
View 3 RepliesHave a problem When i make a slight turn to the left sounds like the tire is rubbing the inner fender. Don't do it all the time. The tire is not rubbing.
