Purchased a 2015 GtI Autobahn 4 door in Jan. Have had a rattle coming from the rear. Put set screws in the bottom shelf and removed the removable top shelf but still have the noise.
View 12 RepliesSo finally got around to tracking down a rattle I had when driving over roads with choppy pavement (pretty much everywhere around here). There was a clinking kind of rattle coming from the rear of the car. Pulled everything out of the trunk including the spare tire and the noise was still there. Turns out its the rear seat pass through. The rattle is in the thing itself - its not the pass through rattling against the rear seat.
Removed the pass through, rattle gone. But now there is a hole in my rear set .. Guess I could ask the dealer to get me another one, but I'm betting this isn't that uncommon. I would have been happy to just have a split rear seat without the stupid pass through actually...

Is this normal? i don't know where to search anymore to find where the rattle comes from...
Car has been running rough for a few days. Last night my engine light came on p0017. Called the dealer and they couldn't get it in until Monday. They said if the light wasn't flashing just bring it in then. So I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and the car started much smoother and the light went off. Drove into the city and once I got to my destination the light came back on and the car was running rough again. Decided to finish up and head home. However once I got in to make the drive home I could now hear a rattle when I accelerated coming from the engine. Then the oil light would come on every time I hit the gas to accelerate. I made it home as slow as possible but when I checked the oil it's not even reading on the dip stick and the dip stick smells burnt. No oil on the floor, oil filter and plug shows no leaks. I have noticed the past few weeks that my exhaust tips are dirtier than usual and black drops were all over the rear bumper and back of the trunk. Could this thing really have blown out that much oil. I just changed the oil less tHan 1000 miles ago.
View 29 RepliesI just picked up a new Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, 2015. It now has about 1,400km on it and I have recently noticed a very annoying high pitched chirping rattle that is coming from somewhere in the back. I hear it inside of the car with me so I don't think there are any issues with the safety of the vehicle itself.
I notice the noise every time I drive, and more-so when the road is uneven. It sounds like a tin or metal object rattling against something else. I am not sure if the noise is coming from the back seats or the back door panels... or maybe even the tailgate. I have been trying to search similar issues but I don't know what else to do. I have a service appointment scheduled at the dealership next week but it seems that issues like this don't really get resolved because the mechanics can't pinpoint where they are coming from... or they can only offer a temporary fix. I really do not want my back seats or door panels removed so I am trying to pinpoint where the noise is coming from myself before I take it in so I can explain it to the mechanic in more detail...
When I took someone for a ride and he sat in the back seat to try and listen to the noise, it seemed to die down in sound quite a bit so that leads me to believe the seats may be the issue.
My 2015 GTI is making rattling noises over small bumps. It sounds like a loose ball joint or tie rod end. I had the sway bar link recall work done. It's definitely a loose metal part rattle. My dealer can't look at it until next Tuesday.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 2.0t 6mt. A few months ago I started hearing a rattle coming from either the area under the rear window or in the trunk coming from the right side. It's not just a little rattle like a screw is loose... It sounds like a large hunk of metal or plastic is flopping back and forth. It's most noticeable at low speeds on rough roads and I think it's gotten louder over time. I recently moved to Richmond VA and the roads here are horrendous. It's not a faint noise either. Each time I drive with somebody new, its the first thing they notice. Folding the rear seats down definitely makes the rattle louder. I can sorta reproduce the sound when I rock the car back and forth.
View 8 RepliesI've got white string coming out from my rear seats between the seam of the back part of the seat and the part that you sit on. Not sure if this is a part of the seat or something that was left over that they didn't remove.
View 6 RepliesHave an '07 with 117k miles so well out of warranty. There is a very pronounced metallic rattle coming from the rear of the cabin when going over moderate sized bumps or listening to audio at moderate levels. Did some troubleshooting and have narrowed the noise down to somewhere above the rear center of the headliner. If I press slightly upwards on the headliner at this location, the noise stops.
View 1 RepliesWhen I'm driving and come to a stop for at least two seconds, I hear a slight click/tap noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Then as soon as I let off the brake, I hear the noise again. I can only hear it with the radio off, and I cannot seem to replicate it when my AC is running. I have Eco mode enabled too. I have no engine/warning lights on my dash, and have no reason to believe my vehicle has an issue; just simply trying to find out what the noise is.
View 2 RepliesI would describe the noise as a low rattle/knocking when i hit bumps(or the second after). i thought it might be my spare tire knocking around in its trunk well under the carpet. I actually removed it and drove around to check, but it was not the issue. I had a mechanic look at wheels/suspension because of this noise, he told me the rear passenger side sway bar link needed to be replaced. I personally ended up doing the work and replaced the right and left rear sway bar links however the noise persists.
while the rear was jacked up i tried wobbling the wheels with my hands to check for play but found nothing in any direction. The mechanic seemed to think everything else looked ok.
I only notice it at low speeds like driving around a neighborhood. The big bumps it either isnt happening or the noise is drowned out by the general sound of hitting larger bumps. But over mildly bump sections such as a bad asphalt patch chop it can be very noticeable.
Its not very consistent, its hard to predict when ill hear it and its almost like its during when my suspension settles after hitting the bump that its heard.
Many months ago I had a rattle in my 13 Azera. Of course when I took it back to the dealer they heard it but when I left it was gone. I had a scheduled service to have it looked at but the rattle never came back.
The last two weeks it is back louder than before. I thought it might be coming from the passenger seat belt housing on the side of the door but now it sounds like it might be coming from the passage side rear door or maybe the sun roof. Hard to tell yet my girlfriend was in the car last night said it wasn't coming from the passenger side seat belt housing sounded more like the rear of the car.
So going to make an appointment to get it looked at next week. I hate rattles! I looked all over the car yesterday after had her cleaned up. My trunk is empty, so not sure what it could be.
I have a 2002 Santa Fe that has started to have a very loud rattle. It sounds like it is coming from underneath the vehicle toward the rear, possibly the passenger-side wheel-well, but that specific location just may be an auditory illusion.

I have developed a rattle in the right rear which appears to be coming from the rear strut. It is more pronounced at lower speeds, especially over potholes, and disappears completely at highway speed.
I'm thinking it may be a loose strut nut or housing assembly and want to inspect the strut. Is there a simple way to remove the back seat to allow access to the rear struts? 2007 ES350 ....

I have a rattle of some sort I can hear coming from underneath towards the rear while under acceleration. Usually hear mostly at certain RPM and not through entire accel to hwy speed. Do not hear it while in Park and reving engine, but on the road I hear it. Mostly I think after it gets hot or something.
No driveability issue only rattle? While I was reving in Park I could hear a bubbling after I let off the pedal. Is that normal. I don't think it is the same noise/rattle.
Experiencing a metallic click or something alike when coming to a full stop?
I've notice this new noise and it seems to happen about 0.5 seconds after the car has come to a complete stop, not during the stopping. It only happens when stopping at a red light, and it doesn't do it on stop and go traffic.
It also doesn't seem to coincide precisely with applying the brakes because is AFTER the car has stopped, again, in less than a second. I hope that makes any sense.
It happens maybe 25% of the time but, then again, if I go to the dealership I'll probably won't be able to reproduce it.
Well I've just noticed something quite annoying today... a very slight hissing sound coming from under the rear end of the car. A friend I drove to work this morning even said "what's that noise?".... It reminds me of the sound you'll hear when there is a pinhole in a joint weld, or a clamp is loose? My car only has 2800km on it!

View 14 RepliesSo, I have a new neighbor that owns a 2010 Toyota Highlander (out of warranty). Recently, the vehicle has had a on and off "rattle" type of sound that comes from the rear of the vehicle. He has tried to get it into the dealership to take a look, but since it comes and goes, it's hard to duplicate it at times.
Anyway, we noticed that if you put the seats down (60/40 split) then push them up with some force the "rattle" stops for awhile. So, we are thinking that this sound is coming from the rear seats. What to check? Could it not be "latching" properly? It seems solid when you sit in it and rock, or if you push/pull on them.
I purchased a 2014 Santa Fe 2.0T last June. Has been an awesome car up until about 2 weeks ago. I started to notice a squeaky rattle sound coming from somewhere around the rear passenger door. I've tried pressing on things, checking all the door pockets and can't seem to find it. Looked at the front mud flap in front of the rear tire and it's tight. It only does it when I get above 45 MPH and is sporadic. I'm afraid the dealer won't be able to replicate the problem.
