Can I do this with VAG-COM?

View 2 RepliesTonight while driving along at about 30-35mph, smooth road, contant speed, straight, etc. I heard a continuous ding, saw a red light come on, and saw the MFD light up "release parking brake."
I checked and the brake was released as I thought.
I pulled over, set and released the brake a few times, shut the car off and restarted it.
The BRAKE light remains on the whole time though and I can not get it to turn off.
That isn't the bad part though, once you are under way the chime continuously dings until you stop again.
The brake is not set and is not dragging, I coasted in neutral and there was no noticeable deceleration. Also once I got home which was about a 45minute drive (a lot of fun with the chime sounding the whole time) I put my hand by the rear wheels and neither of them had much heat coming from them.
It obviously is an electrical glitch of some sort. Where is the parking brake sensor? is it inside the cabin or outside under the rear end somewhere? is there a fuse I can yank to get this to stop until I can bring it in to the dreaded dealership?
Okay, so coming from a MKV Jetta, I had zero trouble getting these lil bastards out. Though for some reason, I can't grab em for the life of me. I can feel it twist (They are now both horizontal, is this locked or unlocked position?), but NEITHER will budge (not like we have room in the tiny TDI engine compartment). Thinking of changing em out with Amber LEDs that I've got from my old Jetta. I can't even remotely see with needlenose pliers, so I don't wanna risk breaking anything.... Is there an easy way to get em out that I'm missing?

View 10 RepliesI was down at H20i this past weekend and had my window cracked and a truck splashed water into my car all over my dash. Then all my lights started flickering. So I let it air out for about 2hrs and cleaned it all up and the problem went away expect the parking brake light flickered for a bit then just stayed on and kept binging at me and says to release the parking brake. So when I got home I let it air out all night and let my windows down and put my car in the sun all day today. Parking brake light is still on.
View 6 RepliesMy passenger parking light is off. I've check all my fuses and wiring and everything is good. They were working fine yesterday but they then shut off out of no where.
View 5 RepliesI noticed that there is no parking light position on the headlight switch, so how does the headlight switch work? Either all OFF or all on? Or is the on position really "auto"
View 10 RepliesHow do you remove the city or parking light bulb in the 2011 GTI, without the HID projector headlights? I have the regular halogen set-up...I want to change them to a super white bulb to match my Xenesis bulbs.
I know its the 194 bulb, I just can't seem to pull it free...
Recently purchased a 2001.5 Passat, and of course got the mod itch... started with an Neuspeed ECU flash & DV, along with K&N... and now I'm in the process of suspension & exhaust... Unfortunately the past week, I was told that I had a tail light out.... Upper Rear Passenger Side Parking/Brake Light.... So I figure, hit up the parts store, grab a new bulb, and I'll be set...
Well, come to find out that it's not the bulb....
The light works when I brake, so 1/2 of the bulb is good... but the parking lights won't come on that side, but on the driver side everything is good..... even with the new bulbs..(replaced both on that side[passenger] just to be sure.)
So, just out of curiosity, I took one of the old bulbs that I thought was shot, and put it in the drivers side, and what do you know... it worked flawlessly on that side...
So, I'm led to believe I have a short... or a wiring problem somewhere... but I can't see how this could have just happened without really messing with anything... I mean, I disabled the DRL's.... but I even undid that(small piece of tape covering the B prong)... just to make sure..
Unfortunately I encountered damage to my rims while parking.
One of them is deep the other is a lighter one.
I will call some rim repair places tomorrow, is this fixable.
I tried to put some scratch remover but it does not work over metal.
I saw some videos on youtube on fixing rims.

They are sand papering it, applying bondo and painting over it.
Even if this is possible, what would be color of the touch up paint.
My parking brake light goes on occasionally. It is the electric park brake. If I engage the brake I can hear the brake engage. Is this a sensor issue or do I just need new rear pads?
View 4 RepliesWhen I went to shut off the ignition today, the MFI showed "Parking Light On". Don't know why it happened but it shut off by itself. But then it switched over and said "Side Light On" and the annoying buzzer stayed on. This is the second time that message came on. I started the engine again and it shut off. Actually, the first time the message "Side Light On" came on was after I had opened the rear hatch and noticed the inside lights stayed on.
View 5 RepliesSo here's the deal... My left rear parking light does not come on when the lights are on...all other lights and signals on the car are perfect...if you press on the brake, then the parking light bulb lights up just as if you were braking, and when you let off the brake it goes blank again. Its not the bulb, and its not the light bulb module because i took out the other rear one and plugged it in and had the same problems and plugged the "bad" module into the "good" side and it worked fine. So it looks like there is a bad wire somewhere correct? Also...I looked up in the car wiring diagram and that red/black wire leads to the ABS control....so it would have to be a bad wire between the light and the abs?
View 4 RepliesI live in the Cleveland area and we got pelted with snow yesterday. For the most part, the car did great. Great traction and visibility while driving on low lit roads...It was only 28 degrees so it threw the warning for black ice which caught me off guard lol.
Then as I'm going to stop I hear beep beep beep beep beep!!!!
The parking sensors start saying there's something in front of me within inches....yet there's nothing within 50 feet. Every time I went under 10mph it kept doing this...well I got home and see that a small layer of snow was covering the sensors. Granted I can turn off the beeping and such but in a place like Cleveland there's usually a ton of snow and I can see this getting annoying really fast. This is my third car with parking sensors and the only one to react to a tiny layer of snow....
So the switch is pretty basic, only on or off! ahha. Is there some other way to just have everything but the headlights running? aka parking lights?
View 3 Repliespopping noise after parking car mk5 rabbit....
View 1 RepliesThis started a few days ago. I noticed it as I was getting home and parking. The next morning I started the car and tried to replicate the sound and it was gone. It came back later in the day though. I'm not sure what it could be, but it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side and I've only heard it after the car has warmed up. That noise started about a month ago

Will I have to remove the whole front bumper to change the front parking light bulbs ?
I noticed that one of them is missing and the other one burnt out.
Today the parking brake light didn't turn off when I released the parking brake. Other than the light staying on, nothing else unusual occurred. I did not notice any indication that the brakes were dragging. The brake fluid level was near maximum.
After reading earlier Priuschat posts on this subject, I found the cause which apparently is explained in technical service bulletin TSB BR002-07 (Parking Brake Light Won't Go Out | PriusChat)
Here's what happened to me. For some reason, the entire switch body loosened from the firewall and moved away far enough away from the lever arm such that it couldn't contact the switch and close it when the pedal was released. I think it happened because I pressed the pedal too quickly and with too much force somehow. The switch is at the top of the pedal assembly and it's not too difficult to reach
So, I pushed the switch back against the lever arm and presto, the brake light turned off as it's supposed to. I tried the parking brake several times and it is fixed for now. Now I need to determine how to tighten the switch so it won't move again.
Not sure what they are called, but my front/right side/orange colored /non-blinker/US configured light is not illuminating. This is the fairly dim light that comes on along with the headlights.
It doesn't look easy to access in terms of bulb replacement, so how to get at it...or perhaps it's as simple as a fuse change.
I have a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu LS.
The bulb for the parking light on the right headlight doesn't come on, it only comes on when the turning signal is activated. I'm not sure if it's the bulb or the fuse? If it's the fuse, do I need to buy electrical gloves and disconnect the battery before I "operate".
