I get it at random times but for the life of me can't figure it out. I thought it had to do with the locks or something, only notice it in the first 15 minutes of driving the car.

View 42 RepliesI recently found out when I open the door to my mk4 jetta it starts to make this loud ticking noise. It happen when I open only three doors the two front and the rear passenger. I have no clue what it is i even asked my mechanic who has been working on volkswagens for years and he said hes never heard anything like it.
View 1 RepliesOk so this past weekend I finally got my car up and running with kinetics stage 3 kit took it out for a drive plenty of times this weekend everything turned out great. Car pulls really hard. I also installed some new coilovers and spacers. This morning I woke up and drove my car to my local general tire shop to get aligned. When driving It first sounded great but after about 10 min, And yes I punched it a few times, the car started to make a wahh wahh wahh wahh wahh wahh wahh wahh wahh. With the speed of the car. Not from the engine! Now I'm hoping it's a wheel bearing or something because I've never heard one before.

What is that little motor shown in the still image (in focus at 22 seconds in the video) and why is it ticking? I noticed for the first time ever that it coincidentally wasn't ticking when I first tried shooting this video. After idling for a few minutes, it came on and started ticking away. Its much more noticeable when the engine idle is lower than in the video, and its more noticeable in person. The noise I am referring to is more pronounced later in the video at around 44 seconds when I go completely out of focus because I am putting the mic right next to it.
I posted about the f 350 cam lob and lifter wearing on the ford 460 ci engine, what all the causes might be. we used the cam lube but got a ticking within the first 10 min of running.
View 1 RepliesYou know the ticking noise that is normal for our engines? Well, below 25 degrees F, it is the most worst noise ever. It sounds like the valve train is going to explode. Just keep in mind I've driven many cars. The ticking noise shouldn't be outrageously loud.
But my main problem that is worrying me is this WHOMP-WHOMP-WHOMP noise. The higher the RPM the faster the noise. Doesn't matter if the car is moving or not and I know it's coming from the engine. I hope it's not related to the loud ticking. It only happens for approximately 5 minutes. After that, there's no WHOMP sound and the ticking goes back to normal sound levels.
I have intermittent excessive wind noise from the top of my passenger door. The dealer claims they can't hear it, so I will take matters into my own hands. The driver's door was not aligned correctly when I bought the car but the dealer adjusted it correctly, so I am wondering if the passenger door could just be too far outward. Other than adjusting the door striker inward are there any other adjustments or is there a common issue that could cause the wind noise?
View 24 RepliesWhen I close the passenger door with the window down the glass of the window makes a noise like it is hitting metal. The noise is the loudest when the window is all the way down and becomes less loud gradually the further the window is up when the door is closed. It does not make the noise at all when the window is all the way up.
Found a few websites that illustrates how to remove the door panel but that seems to give you access to the window motor not the window itself.
I hear a consistent tick tick tick when driving coming from what sounds like the passenger side wheel . It's is consistent with the rate of speed I'm traveling so if I'm going slow the tick is slow and if I speed up the tick speeds up. If I stop the tick stops.

My doors creak a lot and it really annoys me when I drive at low speeds with the radio off. The wind noise isn't that big but I do notice that there is a lot of wind noise coming from my sunroof rather than my windows/door.
Sound coming from the engine and it is coming from the passengers side of the engine. The year is 2003, LS model, and four wheel drive. Well, I took it in yesterday and the mechanic said it was the "Camshaft" and this was a normal sound. Not to mention I have had this vehicle in for 6 other problems: 3 times for the four wheel drive light malfunctioning, 2 times for the service engine light coming on and then they had to replace a seal on the left front deferential because it was leaking oil.

View 3 RepliesSo I took my GTI in for TSBs, new wipers, the door seal creak and new wheels (old ones were not painted behind the spokes) - when it was returned to me, I noticed (after I got home) the red door stripe on the passenger side would not light up. At one point they had taken that door panel off to see if it was creaking instead of the seals (which of course, it was not) and I assume that they forgot to connect something, or unplugged something accidentally. Any other suggestion, like a magical fuse I can replace? I so don't want to travel 60 miles back to this guy. And not only did they not fix the seals, the noise is worse than before, I think from them messing with the doors. But anyway, I'm looking for possible DIY fixes.

Drove the car a good 50 miles yesterday with no problems. today as i was leaving the house, i kept hearing a ticking noise that was progressive in frequency the faster i drove it. i only made it to the end of my street, went back home to drive off in my gas guzzler for my 50mile round trip today.
View 2 RepliesI'll be sitting at a stop light and I'll start hearing this ticking sound which seems to come from the rear of the driver door, or perhaps the B pillar. Opening and shutting the door will make it go away for a short time, but it returns by the time I get to the next light.
It's very steady, about one tick per second. At highway speeds it's either non-existent or too faint to hear. I have a 2-door.
I have 2011 Elantra and been loving the car, getting great mileage. Recently I started hearing this ticking randomly while driving. Sometime during reverse, at random stopping. It is a single tick and it goes away.
View 5 RepliesCompared to my last car, the ticking noise you normally hear from the exhaust after you shut the car is louder in my elantra. But that doesnt bother me. However, i can hear that same exhaust noise while im driving. Its coming from underneath the middle of the car not the engine. My old car did not make that noise while driving, just after i shut the car off.
