Sounds like a squirrel knocking on the rear hatch for a few seconds. Is this the fuel pump by any chance??
What i have noticed is that the relay clicking in the CECM is no longer clicking, yet now i hear this knocking in the rear hatch area when i start it up after it sits overnight.
I have a Hyundai-Accent 1.5 GL, Auto, year 2000 car. I bought this 4 months ago and ever since it has been giving the check engine signal. However, running conditions of the car has been normal and therefore, I didn't worry about the check engine signal. Now, the engine is rough idling for few seconds when I start the car in the morning, and then it comes back to normal.

Random misfires not corrected by changing coils/plug. It's been in the shop for awhile, and no diagnosis. I'm ready to sell the thing, unless there is a quick fix. New hybrid battery 20# miles ago; used transaxle 10# miles ago (with 1.5 yrs left on 2 yr warranty); new tires 10 miles ago. Has 185,000 miles.

View 10 RepliesIt seems like the first thing in the morning when I pull out of the driveway my car acts like it not accelerating smoothly. It's kinda jerky and seems like it takes a second to get the gas. I mean I know some cars are a little jerky after not being driven for a day or so but she is brand new, only a few months old.
View 21 RepliesEvery morning when I start my LX570 it starts with the idle higher that normal and then after 1 or two minutes is settles.
Along with the higher idle there is a little extra noise from the engine, after 2 minutes the noise goes away and all normal.
Is this the way they start in the morning?
For the past few days I get this knocking noise coming from the right rear of the car 30 seconds after a cold start. Only happens first thing in the morning, then goes away and does not come back until the next day. Knocking sounds like dropping a marble on a tile floor. Noise goes away after about 30-45 seconds, can happen while moving or stationary. I will probably bring it in when I have time, but can't leave the car overnight so they can duplicate it.

In the last couple of weeks, if the Blazer isn't driven for 3 or more days, there is a slight knocking noise for 15 to 20 seconds after start up. Oil level and pressure are fine. I'm guessing it's the lifters.....
Recently, when I start the engine (cold or even warm starts) I hear a subtle knocking noise that doesn't last too long but a few seconds. I figured that maybe it's because our area may still be using winter mix gasoline... but I'm not sure. Also, there's a rattle underneath the car when the engine switches into generating electricity with MG1.
This only happens after a start-up procedure (cold or warm). It stops when I push the gas pedal down a little bit (while still in park) then it goes into charging again, and by that time, it's stopped. I figured it may be a heat shield on the exhaust. It sounds more up in the front.
Also, when I start the car, the engine starts smoothly but then 1-2 seconds later goes into spinning MG1 which makes the car kinda sound like "vrrrrrrr---VRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr...." .
My 2005 Ram 1500 makes a knocking noise (like a diesel) when i first start it up. The colder it is the louder it is. Once warm it is quite and i have no performance issues.
View 12 RepliesI have two 2009 stick Focus SE 4drs (one for me and one for the Mrs.) Both are PZEV. Mine, with 66k runs great; hers, with 43k talks back when under initial load. When starting up from a stop or up shifting in any gear we get a snorting or knock in the 1000 -1500 rpm range. Once above 1500 rpm all is quiet. The funny thing is that if it is raining out, the noise does not occur. The car is also an absolute dog on any hill, putting the pedal to the floor does absolutely nothing (no knock, either) Having an identical car myself, and not experiencing these two things, I would guess that something is amiss. What might be the cause?

Noticed that strange rattling sound upon starting up ?? I have a 2006 Sonata V6 . At first I thought it was normal I listened to other sonatas heard the same thing, but I don't think its normal googled it found some info but no clear answer , any way to fix it?
2001 Prius. Within 15 seconds of starting the engine, I captured the screeching sound from the engine bay. Noise went away after about 20 seconds. New serpentine belt and new 12v battery installed. Pass dealer 27-point check. Transmission fluid, inverter fluid, high voltage battery were replaced about 18,000 miles ago. Current mileage 174,000.
Noise is not from the serpentine belt. I attached a mp3 file of the sound. "2001 Prius Noise.MP3" ..... Which component is making this noise?
Weird noise I am hearing with my mothers new Elantra she just picked up. When starting engine has a knocking noise, not kinding. Letting motor run for a few minutes it goes away but is concerning. I was wondering if there is an issue with the MPFI engine which i believe is new this year which replaced the GDI engine. Definitely does not sound normal to me. to me it sounds like a rode knock or hydro lifter issue. Are these engines known for this. My mother traded her 2012 civic for this with 4500 miles. She did not like the seats and dash board layout in it and we got a good deal on this car.

The only way i can get it to go is my jamming it in drive.. and then still it takes the car like 2 minutes before it will pick up speed and start driving normal.
View 2 RepliesSo i have recently started hearing a noise coming from the rear of my car when i start it in the morning. When i fire my car up and sit in it for 10 maybe 20 seconds it starts making like a clunk/chug/thud/pumping sound? i fear its a sign that my fuel pump is going bad? After about another 30 seconds or so it goes away. It only happens when i fire it up in the morning probably because it has been sitting there for so long, but it won't do it lets say when i get out of work 8 hours later.
And another thing is i was looking for solutions for all the other creaks and cabin noises and sunroof rattles but the link is broken and I'm going nuts chasing these noises with minimal success. My passengers door/area sometimes does not make a noise for a few days but sometimes it sounds like there is a million turkeys chasing gerbils around for weeks!!
There is a clunking sound coming from my passengers door (i have taken off the panel and looked for loose connections with no success everything looked good). My headliner/sunroof chatters.
2002 Sante Fe, 2.7L Belt squeals for about 10 seconds when the vehicle is first started up (engine cold) in the morning. Doesn't do it any other time until next morning. I had this problem 6 months ago and replaced the belt (OEM) and Dayco Tensioner. Now I have same issue again! What gives?
View 6 RepliesMy GA has been sluggishly starting for the last 3 days, usually the first start of the morning then fine the rest of the day. Today is the first day that it has done it during the day. I stopped at Advance Auto on way home and they ran a test on it. I'm attaching the results of it to get your feedback on the possibilities. The battery was replaced in March 2010, the alternator in November 2010.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2002 Prius that doesn't start properly, It takes about 3-10 tries, put key in , try and start, pull key out, repeat.
Brake pumps are working, 12 volt battery is 6 months old and has voltage. This behavior is only at after sitting all night, not during the day. Car has about 200k miles on it. No codes.
I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla with 90000 miles, that gets regular maintenance.
I've tried taking it to the dealership, but all they want to do is blindly follow their flowchart, making me spend lots of money in the process. Per their instruction, I've already replaced the battery, I've done a tune up, including spark plug replacement.
I think it's probably some sensor that is busted. The car has 90000 miles now (I bought it 3 years ago with 59000), and it didn't have this problem before. In the past, it wouldn't rev high. But now, the revs wont go back to normal unless you spend a good 10-15 minutes in park until it "warms up", even though this also occurs in the summer.
Generally though the car has run great. It just revs high when starting up in the morning.
