This weird thing happened to my Golf MK6 this morning. First when I turned on the car, I realised that there was "engine fault" on the screen but it went away. Then after about 10 minutes drive, when I turned on the indicator, the wiper also turned on (only once).

View 3 RepliesI had my R for 6 years now and the electrical system is starting to go bad. Out of nowhere, my headlights, wipers, ac control, horn, and turning signals just stopped working. At least my radio works.

I'm not sure if the this is a problem with the stalks on the steering column or possibly a relay.
When i pull the left stalk my high beams will come on but only when i do that.
The windshield wipers would not turn on at all and the windshield wash would not even spray as well.
I also noticed that my AC/Heat controls wouldnt respond either. Any clue as to what it might be.
My coolant indicator light keeps returning on my 01 Jetta GLS 2.0
I have searched in the forums and read that its likely a coolant sensor and requires replacing the coolant tank. I am wondering if there are other possible causes as I want to drive it for another 3k before replacing tank (as I will be having timing belt replacement and coolant flush at that time). Previous owner had universal (green) coolant in and it will be replaced with proper coolant when the flush is done.
The indicator comes on within a minute of starting the car. The thermostat seems to operate just fine and car is not overheating. I have topped off with diluted water, it definitely has proper level.
Safe to ignore as long as I watch coolant level and temp?
On a separate issue: I tried to use code reader but it would not connect to my car (had successfully connected at some point prior), I believe it may be because I have an aftermarket radio (the K-wire issue?). If that is true, should it resolve if I swap the stock radio back in? I need to be able to connect to the car eventually when it is time to renew registration (for state emissions control testing).
While driving, the windshield wipers on my 2000 Saturn sometimes come on without me turning them on and they continue to operate for several minutes after being turned off. What is causing this and is it an easy fix?

I have noticed the noisy windshield wipers, the condensation on the windshield, minor binding problems when turning, and some hesitation/jumpiness in the throttle. I talked to a dealer today and they said if I had a list of things to fix, they could do it in a day.
i have a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager. So as a preface, I've had some intermittent electrical issues, the wipers all of a sudden started acting odd ,not turning off, the intermittent setting working oddly, or won't return to the park position. So as i pull off the highway to day my van just stops running. I was fortunately close to my destination, and was able to get towed by a friend the rest of the way.
Now here is the odd part, any time there was a load on the tow strap (attached to the motor mount) it tried to start itself, yes i was in neutral, the speedo would act up (jumping from no reading to 120mph), and the wipers started to go!?!?! I've gt a charger on it wondering if I have some issues due to funky battery voltage, other than that I'm not sure what way to go with this.
s I drive my truck, every now and again the wipers turn on. Just once. Then are off again.
It's a '99 F-150 XLT. Is this the switch? other? little electrical gremlin?
There is a new issue with our 2012 Tiguan S 4Motion. On several occasions the wipers did not turn on when the stalk switch was moved through its positions. Right now, the switch and wipers are working but we don't know for how long.
One interesting fact is that when the switch is left in the on position, the wipers eventually start working. This delay can be as long as 5 minutes.
I scanned with VCDS and found no faults. I monitored the switch position with no issues in any of the 4 positions. Forcing the output causes the wiper motor to work as well. Since the wipers will not operate with the hood open I also checked the status of the hood switch. That too had no errors and responded correctly, disabling the wipers when the hood was unlatched/opened.
Having issues with your wipers not responding to the switch inputs? I will continue to monitor it and will scan with VCDS if I can catch it in the act.
1995 ranger 4,0 4x4... when started up, wipers go 2 times and then stop, but cant turn on again, also blower and 4WD stopped work....
View 4 RepliesMy 01 F-250's wipers would not shut off. As soon as the key was turned on they would come on. No delay but high and low only. Had to pull the fuse to drive it. I replaced the multi function switch as well as the relay with no fix. I did some reading on this problem and it is related to the "park" switch in the wiper motor itself. I took the black plastic cover off the motor which reveals the worm gear driving the plastic gear which acts as the switch.
The contacts for this switch are hard to get to as they are on the backside. I blew compressed air into every little crevice and removed most of the grease. I regreased and put it back together. Sure enough the wipers work just fine now. I am assuming the compressed air trick may be only temporary. Need to reveal the contacts for the park motor switch without destroying the plastic housing?
My aunt's toyota camry will only start if we hold the directional indicator down when turning the ignition on. I thought she was crazy when she told me but that's really the only way it will start! It's a 1999.

When I turn off the A/C my Temperature Control unit clicks rapidly with the A/C indicator lights turning on and off. It's almost like something was turning it rapidly between on and off. Maybe a short in the controls somewhere. I may try and take it apart and see if I can find an intermittent connection in the switch or a short or loose connection or bad wiring somewhere in the unit.
The other option is just to replace the whole A/C Heater Temp Ctrl. unit.
Turn wipers on and motor growls but wipers do not move, checked 30 amp fuse and it is good, all other functions of the multifunction switch are good.
View 2 RepliesI have problems with my rain sensor on my VW golf MK6 MY11. Already a couple of days it's raining pretty much here where i live so i got a chance to test it out in more than one occasion. So the problem is that when it rains the wipers don't come on when they should or they are on and whipping when they shouldn't.. When it's on high intensity and there's just a couple of raindrops it's whipping constantly and it doesn't stop not even slowing down to intermittent i have to turn it off manually, when i put it to low intensity then it works fine for a while and then it stops, raindrops are piling on the windshield and then i have to move the intensity switch again... So basically it's doesn't react how the rain is falling, just sometimes.

View 24 RepliesAbout a week ago I turned on the Climatronic a/c in my 99.5 GTI for the first time since I bought the car. Everything worked fine until a bug splattered my windshield. I sprayed washer fluid and the wiper moved extremely slowly to the halfway point and then stopped. The wipers have always moved slowly since I got it about 6 or 7k km ago but have never become stuck. I turned off the a/c and let the car sit for a while turned off. When I turned it on again, the wipers worked fine but the were noticeably slower then before.
Cut to a few days later, I turn on the wipers to test it out and it gets stuck again, this time about 3 inches from the bottom. I can hear them clicking as if they are restarting the cycle, but it only twitches.
Cut to now, the wipers try to move every time I turn the key to ACC, as well as twitching when the car starts. When I start driving, after approx. 2 minutes my ABS light comes on and doesn't go away until I shut off the car.
I have provided a video. This is my only car and there's rain coming up in the forecast ...
So i've had the car for what, maybe 16 months now and tonight while the wipers were on s l o w speed, I came to a full stop at a light and the wipers stopped wiping, and then either went into intermittent or rain sensing mode. When I started moving again the wipers starting wiping continuously again. Never knew we had this functionality.
I have to admit I've been a fan of the rain sensing feature and just about never use the low or high speed settings except maybe when it's constantly raining on the freeway. So I guess tonight must have been the first time I've used the low setting while in town and had to make a full stop.
2015 GTI, my intermittent wipers work intermittently, sometimes yes, sometime no. A days driving in the rain and I had to switch to low speed for wiping many many times, maybe 10th time they worked as they are supposed to. Shut off for refuel and back to non working.
