Car: 2013 4 door GTI
I am looking for the part number for the rear drivers side window sweep/weather stripping for the interior. I think some adhesive from the old tint got on it and it is squeaking. When I wet it with windex, it stops the noise but I can see lines where it's touching the window.
2001 GLS... Noticed the passenger front door window outer weather strip is loose at one end. Looks like a "tab" on the strip fits into a slot on the door panel. Since the tab is smaller that the slot, is there some kind of clip or something that holds the weatherstrip tab securely in the slot?

View 7 RepliesMy 2011 Honda Civic makes a grinding / squeaking sort of noise when I start it after it has been sitting out in the rain - either for several hours or overnight. The noise seems a bit like the noise when you crank the car but the engine doesn't start. It happens after rain or a snow, so it would seem that moisture is getting into a place it shouldn't. The dealership checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong or anything that would prevent it from starting. They also told me that this noise might well go away after the first oil change - that the additives in the oil now are suppose to seal things.

But when I connect the negative wire to a metal part the light turns on and doesn't turn off unless i take it off. I want to make the lights turn on when i turn on the fog lights. How can I do this / what did i do wrong. I am do this in a 2009 corolla S.

Yesterday I noticed a chirping noise when I had my window down. I could not hear it when it was up. It sounds a bit like the squeal of brake pads, but it's continuous even when not braking (it does change tone with speed, direction and braking). to compound things at times I don't hear it at all.
Could this be brake pads? My front ones are coming due. I thought they only made noise when braking.
I was away from the Phaeton for 2 weeks and managed to let the battery run down to totally dead (left Radar detector on). Started her up on the secondary battery and everything seemed fine, but, a few days later, I had occasion to put down the drivers window - no joy. Tried the passengers window - again no joy. The rear windows were fine. When I try to operate the window I hear a short sound like the window is starting to open, but nothing happens and the glass does not move. Because it is so unlikely that both front windows would fail simultaneously, I suspect a controller may need to be reset. Is there any way to trouble shoot this without a VAG COM?
View 24 RepliesA couple of months back my driver side window began to make this terrible squeaking noise when rolled up and down. I noticed that the noise is not as bad when it is cooler out and when I run my car through the wash with wax (just an option they have at the carwash place).After some internet research I believe that the problem is with a part of window regulator mechanism.
There were a couple of options available to me:1. Replace window regulator mechanism (great instructions on pelicanparts.com). To do it on my own is about $80 (part cost) and 5-6 hours of work or $600 at the dealer's. 2. Locate the motor of window regulator, open it and clean it. Probably 5-6 hours of work, but $0!!!3. Open the door, clean inside and grease the tracks.
I opened the door and cleaned the glass and tracks – no result! I brought it back to the dealer (car is not under warranty anymore) and they were nice enough to open it again for me and grease the tracks – no result except for marks on my window and the verdict that I need to replace the regulator mechanism….
Our 2002 Passat 1.8 wagon has major electrical issues. Problems with the door locks, interior lights and believe it or not, the car will not start in the hot weather. The car also has to be started everyday or the battery gets drained for some odd reason...
View 3 RepliesThe LED strip on my headlights stays on all the time on my 2010 golf. Ignition off, headlight switch off, keys out, car locked. Everything!
So far I've been able to trace the problem back to the stock wiring harness that plugs into the back of the headlight. I'm getting a constant 12v from one of the wires on the harness.
Any relay that the headlights are connected to or where I can find it?
In cold weather, I hear a periodic whining sound from inside the car, any speed, disappearing after about 5-10 minutes when the car is completely warm. It seems to come from the driver's side dash or foot well. It is getting worse with time. Car is very new, only 2500 miles with no other problems. It is not the heater. It is not from the engine bay...I think. Very weird. Only happens when the weather is cold and disappears when the car is warm.
View 3 RepliesIn the cold weather I found I had what sounded like ticking noise at idle on the R. It doesn't do it when first started and I didn't remember it in the warmer weather either. My research indicated it could be the DI injectors or the N80 valve. But what got me concerned was that I could hear the ticking inside the cabin, somewhere in the front passenger footwell area. And at times over normal radio volume. This was not the case in any of those other threads on the issue as they noted the sound only outside the car.
So I took the car into the dealer this morning to see what they would say. Had a good tech check out the car and try a few things. Turns out the tech found it was the fuel line underneath the car rattling. He said this was a common issue in the MK V cars and there is a service bulletin out on it, but he had never seen it on a MK VI car.
i dont know if i can i bring this to VW but the back right wheel squeaks when driving sometimes. Like when i start and just roll forward it has a squeak and sometimes when i break it squeaks. It makes me feel poor hearing it.
View 3 RepliesI have a weird problem with my 2008 Elantra GLS 86K Miles on it. I did a couple of searches on this problem but didn't find any threads. About a month ago I noticed that when I braked hard at highway speeds 65 to 70 Mph I would get a noise that sounded like I was driving over the rumble strips on the side of the road. The rumble was the same frequency no matter what speed you are going, it doesn't get faster or slower. The problem slowly got worse to the point that it would happen at 25 to 30 Mph. The noise sounds like it is coming from the front but I can't tell which side. I figured that it was probably rotors and time for a brake overhaul so I replaced the rotors, pads and hardware on the front and the back. I used synthetic brake grease on the slides and guides. I also replaced the brake fluid with synthetic DOT 3.
When I did the back brakes I found that the wheel bearing on the passenger side was leaking lots of grease so I replaced it with a Timken bearing. (I live over an hour away from the nearest dealer so I did the repairs myself.) While I was working on the bearing I pushed the rear shock up and out of the way and it stayed in the up position for quite a while, aren't the shocks under pressure and usually push right back down? (Just an off subject thought) Well after replacing the bearing the rumble strip noise went back to just happening at speeds from 45 Mph and up. I was also thinking of pulling the fuse on the ABS and seeing if the problem goes away but will pulling the fuse hurt the car in any way or trip a code? I know what the ABS sounds like and this is not the same noise you get when sliding on ice.
I'm trying to track down why the 3rd brake light in the wing doesn't work and I've narrowed it to down to the LED strip being hooped.. I removed the two hard to reach screws underneath but the light still won't separate. Is there a clip or something else holding it on in the middle somewhere? That's where it seems to be not letting go.

View 4 RepliesIf I get in my car to hard or even when I'm in the car and rock back and forth while standing still it sounds like the springs squeak, kind of like a spring bed when getting it on. I don't hear it when I'm driving though.
View 8 RepliesI have an 09 GTI that I bought a few months ago and recently I noticed a rubbery squeaking noise whenever I turn my wheel on the right side. It only happens when I'm going slow and only for a short turn of the wheel both ways. I've tried looking at it with the wheel off but I cannot figure it out for the life of me.
View 1 RepliesI began noticing a clicking noise inside this week as I've been driving with the windows up this past week. (Had to run AC because of the humidity) It happens when first moving and accelerating from either a stand still or rolling at a very low speed. It sounds like a relay is clicking on near the center console or rear seat. It then clicks again when slowing down to a slow roll or complete stop. I've only really began noticing this week, but I think the noise started after the recall. Could it be a relay that I just haven't noticed before? Now that I notice it, I always hear it clicking, even when I've got music on.
