When I've been driving I've been hearing what sounds like plastic constantly tapping something from the passenger side. I thought it was the GPS I put in there, but it's covered with a microfiber cloth and it's pretty tight there so I don't really expect movement. I checked the door pocket and there's nothing there that I can see or feel.
View 2 RepliesI bought a use 2009 Matrix S 2.4L (2AZ-FE) with about 81000 miles on it. when the car is at idle i hear a light tapping sound on the passenger side. It sounds like the engine but am not sure what it might be. What is causing the tapping sound and how to fix it? (i saw some ppl post about the OCV.) The car also has a light vibration when am at a stop n in gear. Its annoying because i bought a car not a tractor.
View 6 RepliesI purchased an '07 Touareg within the last 30 days. Right after purchase, I began to hear a tapping/flapping sound from the front passenger side, seeming to be somewhere in the dash.
I currently have it at the dealership and have been getting mixed answers. First they thought it was something they could fix and today I was told that it was a "normal sound on a Touareg".
1.8T... Finding the source of a weird clicking noise I keep hearing. Ever since I changed the motor mounts (although I am not sure if this has anything to do with it) after the engine warms up or after some driving, when the engine is idling I hear a clicking or tapping noise coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. It doesn't seem to tied to the rpm; I can rev the engine a little without the tapping going faster, and when a shift between neutral or park or drive the tapping will briefly slow down almost to a stop before going back to its regular pace. After the revs get above 1500 or so it seems to stop.
View 6 RepliesMy CEL came on a few weeks ago on my 2010 gti, I scanned it and got a code for evap (P0456). I figured it was from filling the tank while the car was running, so I cleared it and went on with my week. About a week later it came back on and when I scanned it, I got the same thing. I haven't had time to smoke test the system but the last couple days i have heard a clicking/tapping noise coming from the rear passenger side of the car. Could the flapper in the filler neck be malfunctioning or gas cap be leaking.

Well I wedged a towel Between the floor and the trunk lid and the tapping is gone. I was able to duplicate the sound by lifting and dropping the sliding floor in the trunk. View 2 Replies2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT... My brother took my truck off road yesterday by himself and when I left there was a noise on the passenger side. It sounds like slowly tapping an empty barrel, it ranged from a low noise and a little louder. Randomly while driving... Bumps in the road wasn't the problem or turns didn't make it either. I found a thin stick with burrs stuck underneath and took it out but when I left driving again it still made that noise. It might vary by speed but I doubt it I only drove a couple times and that's all I perceived so far. I am wondering if I should be driving it at all now? until I can get it looked at I also called my brother and asked if he hit any bumps or holes real hard but he said no hoping he's not lying to me.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 2.0tdi and when driving at over 40 mph I get a kind off tap tap tap . If I put a little pressure on the clutch you really can feel the tapping. If I take the car out of gear the tapping goes. If I rev the engine whilst stationary no tapping. I figured it might be a worn spline on the driveshaft? I've taken it to the local vw dealer 3 times and they can't find anything.
View 2 RepliesDeveloped a very annoying plastic creek/ tapping sounds from the passenger side C pillar. Almost sounds like it coming from between the c pillar and the rear window, but can't be sure. It's definitely trim related and not suspension. Also how difficult it would it be to remove the C pillar Plastic cover?
Lastly, how many have had success in getting rattles/ squeaks worked out after the 1 year adjustment warranty? I did mention that on a service visit when it showed up right before the warranty expired, but it was very warm that day and the rattle went away.
As I was driving home from vacation the other day while towing my boat I started noticing a tapping sound coming from the passenger side. Sounds like an exhaust leak or a lifter. Can't tell. Sounds louder under acceleration. It's a 2009 5.4 with 70k. Just had ford do oil change last week. Oil level is good.
View 11 RepliesI've been fighting with this noise for probably about 4 months now. I've replaced my strut mounts and strut bearings thinking they were shot, but this didn't even begin to stop the noise. I seem to be hearing it whenever the weight of the car is shifted. The best way to describe the noise is a tapping or high pitched thumping. It's definitely coming from the right corner of the car. Also, I have been hearing a grinding noise from that side when turning the wheel sharply to the left.
I was thinking this was because my brakes needed to be changed and the indicators were scrapping whenever I turned the wheels. I work full time and go to school, so I don't have a lot of time to figure out what's going on. That's why I'm posting here, so I can maybe get some insight before I have time to look at it this weekend. By the way, I have jacked the car up and shook the wheel to check the ball joint and wheel bearing. The wheel was very tight and I didn't feel any play at all.
I had a little run in with a curb a few months back, nothing major, just came up and bit me, and the passenger side plastic grill covering the foglight popped out. Since then it's come compltely out, onto the street, twice, when my car bottoms out. Both times it's happened I've been going no more that 5-10mph and I don't even realize it's missing 'till I'm back in the driveway.
The car in the picture isn't mine, just something to show what I'm talking about. My 2001 passat wagon (v6 4motion) bottoms way too much. It's not even lowered.
How to remove the plastic dash trim on the Passenger side? Is there a way to do this without removing the glovebox? I know there is one screw that needs to be removed. Mine creaks pretty badly. Ive already removed the center console trim and added felt to all those pieces. No more ticks/ creaks.
I guess I could have the dealer remove it but I dont want them taking my glovebox out to do it = more rattles. Why does VW make it so difficult to remove something that should be so simple!!
I just bought my R32 this past weekend and it's been a really great car to drive. I'm just wondering if the whizzing sound (sounds like a little fan or whir) coming from the engine compartment on the passenger side is normal. It gets louder as I add throttle.

Here's the kicker: It only happens when I turn LEFT!!!! I checked and there is nothing obvious that sticks out to touch the tire when it turns...
I think I'm becoming an automotive hypochondriac ever since I started owning this car...I was sitting at a light the other day and all of sudden I heard a faint sound coming from what seemed to be the passenger side rear of the car. It sounded like a ticking clock or a heart beat...it was some what faint, but still noticeable. It is intermittent though and has no particulars when it happens and seems to go away when I begin to drive off... Fuel pump? Gremlins?

View 18 RepliesI got a brand new 2011 Mazda 3 i Sport 4 door sedan in May and it's been great so far. Lately though, I have started to hear a sound coming from the back left hand side of the car. It really closely resembles the sound of tapping one's finger on a counter top. When I'm stopped, there's no noise but when I go I can hear it. As I go faster it goes faster as well and when I slow down it slows down. What is going on?
