I just noticed that even when switching the dome light off, the trunk light never shuts off with the hatch open.
I assume there is no way to turn it off other than taking out the bulb?
Bought 2013 rx 350 and the button on the dashboard to open the rear hatch trunk just beeps twice and wont open. i have to use the remote to open and close and the button on the trunk works to close it.

Windows no longer roll down.
Trunk doesn't open.
Interior lights don't turn on.
My hatch has been unlocking just fine (you hear the click and it pops out just a little bit) but when you flip the emblem to open it won't always open. This is of course intermittent so I can't get it to happen at the dealer. It feels unlocked but when you pull on it something still is staying latched and I have to unlock it again with the remote to release.

View 7 RepliesMy sister is having an odd issue on her 3-door accent. The hatch-open indicator light is on all the time. But when you press the brake pedal the light goes out. She has to disconnect the battery every night so it won't wear down.
Most of the suggestions were to check the sensor/latch at the hatch. But if the light is going out when you press the brake pedal - then the problem is nothing to do with the sensor. I think it might be a bad ground somewhere. I've taken the sensor/latch completely apart - the problem is not there.
She had this problem a few years ago. I wiggled and pulled on every harness under the dash, and I removed, checked, and reinstalled the rear bulbs. I don't think any of that worked, but eventually the light went out on its own. But now the problem is back. I think the problem might go away and come back depending on the moisture in the air.
I have myself a hatch stuck shut on my wagon. Wont open with the button and the key doesn't turn. The key fob was actually broken when I bought the car leading me to believe it happened while he tried to unlock the stuck hatch.

View 13 RepliesJust noticed today that when my exterior lights are on and I open the rear hatch, as soon as the latch pops the inner taillights (the ones on the hatch) go out. Do I have a wiring problem or is this normal? Just seems kinda odd; never saw a car with trunk-or-hatch-mounted tails extinguish them when the trunk/hatch is opened.
Oh, 2011 Golf TDI btw.
WHen i open the back hatch, the light does not come on when the switch is on door but if i flip it to on it works fine...
View 2 RepliesRecently the hatch on our 98 Toyota 4Runner wouldn't "click" closed- my husband had to secure it w/ a rope for the ride home. Took it to the dealer the next day where they "degunked" it. Now it latches, but the open door/hatch indicator dash light is constantly on - the repair tech said he didn't know why or what to do about it! My concern is that the battery is being drained.
View 5 RepliesI sent my car out for a new clutch and timing chains cause I did not have the time to do my self. So when I got it back I try and get into the trunk and the key will not turn the lock so then I tried to do it with the switch and you could here it unlock but again still would not open.
Also I called the mechanic and he claims he never heard this b4 cause the key should always be able to turn.
Can't open the trunk and need to get it open for body work. How can I unlatch it from the inside.
View 6 RepliesThey originally had the issue where the truck open light was on accept when braking which I traced back to the harness in there trunk, a few months ago while they were getting there oil done there mechanic said they would just remove the harness and tie the wires together without the harness to prevent the possibility of a new harness corroding as well. but after doing so there rear defogger no longer works so somewhere they did something wrong but with the harness no there anymore I cant really tell myself.

View 7 RepliesMy latch wont open at all! When i first bought the car the trunk would open but Im not sure what had happened to it. The key doesn't work at all but every time I press the button on my key too open it or from the button on the floor it makes the noise that it unlocked but its still shut??!!?! Maybe I thought it was the fuse but I had changed fuse 15 still nothing any body experienced this before seems too be a common problem. Should I just go through the front and take the panels off for the hatch and diagnose whats wrong with it?
View 1 RepliesI can't get the trunk to open while the car is locked from a normal standing position. I used to be able to, but now I have to rub up against my car to open it. gotta hump the back of my gti to open trunk... its been 3 months. is the key already dead?
View 6 RepliesMk IV Jetta. Central locking works fine. All other CCM functions are fine. Replaced CCM recently serial numbers match. When I hit the switch on the door nothing at all happens. When I use the key button the lights flash twice but no other activity. No broken wires between the body and the trunk lid. Actuator works when tested with a 9v battery.
