Golf/GTI VI :: Tire Pressure Sensor Warning Light Came On When Drove Over A Big Bump
Jul 31, 2013
My wife drove over a big bump and triggered the warning light. I checked the pressure and they are fine.

View 18 RepliesMy is350 F sport tire pressure sensors. Well I have after market wheels with the stock tire pressure sensors, when they were first installed everything was fine, now about 2 months later now that it is a little cooler. My two back sensors are showing the warning light. it still reads the pressure and shows correct pressure but sensor warning light for both rear tires are on. Why this is? I was thinking the colder weather but why only the rear two and not the front. they go off and on but lately both have been on.
View 3 RepliesI am driving down the road and the TPMS light starts to blink - and then stays on. I looked in the manual and it says that "When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute: Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system." The resolution is to "Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer."
All my pressures, including the spare are how I have them set. I also made sure to re-set the TPMS button under the steering wheel to the new pressures and everything. I'll let you know what I find out. I'm kinda mad a sensor has failed though on a car that's less than one year old.
Last night my tire pressure warning light came on. So this morning I checked them, and they are all above 37 psi, so might be a tad bit low, but nothing major. the manual also mentioned that light can come on if there is a sensor fault. Should I be concerned?
View 6 RepliesSo I put the summer rims on the wife's B6 Wagon. Besides breaking out my VAGCOM and turning off this option. The error/warning light is getting annoying
View 12 RepliesHad the low tire light indicating a tire has low pressure, which I have had happen before and so inflate all tires from 38 to 40 lbs each. After a few tire rotations, lamp extinguishes. Except this time it doesn't. It blinks for a minute then lights steady.
Any way to reset it (didn't find anything in owners manual) or tell if its the sensor in a tire or the sensor element on car? Either way suppose will be a visit to Toyota repair. Oh well, first real visit for a problem in six years (other than for recalls), other than headlight replacements and oil changes.
The tire pressure warning light has been on in my car for about a week. The dashboard computer says that the tire pressure in the front right tire is 17 psi, but when I use the pressure gauge, the reading is almost 40 psi. Is this something I should be concerned about? What could be causing this problem?
View 16 RepliesYesterday, my wife took my car to LA and the CEL came on and stayed on (it's not blinking). It doesn't seem like anything is really wrong with the car other than the light being on. My wife says it seems to be running fine since the CEL came on.
Then this morning, my wife turned on the car and the check tire light came on, but then went off. Last week, I had my new rims (19x.8.5) and tires (235/35-19) installed, so I guess that could have something to do with it. My wife checked the tires and there's nothing wrong with them.
I want to figure out what the heck is going on with my R (sucks that all this started happening the one time my wife took the car out of town....Murphy's law I guess). I have an APR stage 1 tune, and want to avoid potential issues with a punk dealership in LA. Consequently, I'd like to try to figure out what is going on with my VAG-COM before I take it to the dealer.
Here are my questions:
1. Could my new rims and tires have caused the CEL to come on and stay on? Seems unlikely, but since the check tire light started acting up, I though they might be related.
2. Is there a way to scan my car with VAC-COM to figure out what is causing the CEL?
Is it possible to disable the TPS using vag com?
I am using the car for the track and don't want to have sensors on several sets of wheels.
A couple days ago my tire pressure warning came on. I checked the manual to see if there was a way for the MFD to tell you which tire is low. I couldn't find anything. Do I have to go around and check each tire for the proper pressure? If the car knows the pressure is low shouldn't it know which one? Also I'm wondering after only a couple months of ownership why my tire/s are low on air.
View 4 RepliesI've got a 2007 Prius and the tire pressure sensor light came on long ago and won't reset. My tires are properly inflated. Rather than to keep speculating I figured I could use the Mini VCI to see if any codes or information come up.
View 16 RepliesI have had my tires replaced without having the the tire pressure sensors reinstalled. (one was malfunctioning and I just don't have the available funds to have it/the rest of them replaced, at the current momtn)
View 7 RepliesAbout a week ago my tire pressure light came on indicating that my tire pressures were low, I checked all 4 immediately and they were all around 35psi so I figured the light would correct itself after a little while. Fast forward a week it's still on, I tried clearing the code with vagcom, but it comes back immediately after it is cleared.
I'm assuming the warning threshold is bogus, how can I reset it?

Last night after I got off of work I fired up the car and the Low Tire Pressure Warning light lit up accompanied by a chime sound. I checked the tires they were fine. I stopped by a gas station with bright lighting and the tires looked fine. I checked them again in the garage when I got home and they were fine. Why did this light come on? How do I turn it off? About 1400 miles on my R as of last night.
View 1 Replies2012 Golf TDI... No tpms? I just got back from a road trip and noticed I have a flat and most likely drove on it for an hour. I thought the car came with a tpms system. I checked the glove box and there is no reset button (which I read should be there if you have the new tpms system that works with the abs system). I have the Canadian Highline 2012 Golf. I read through the manual and didn't find anything about tpms. Does this come with the GTI only?
View 6 RepliesEver since it started getting cold here in the Northeast (mid December ish) my tire pressure sensor light is on. I know that it may be necessary to add air during cold weather as the air in the tire can contract in the cold but the pressure is fine - I had my mechanic check it out. Light does go out when it warms up - at least above freezing - but comes back on again when it gets cold. Normally I spend most of the winter in Florida but am usually here (in MA) until mid Jan. and this has never happened in previous years.
View 2 RepliesThis sensor came on, I filled the tires up to 35 and it went away. A few weeks later, I decided to air the fronts to 40 and the backs to 38 PSI. The light came back on.
View 5 RepliesIs there a reset to the tire pressure warning light? I filled all 4 tires to recommended pressure and the light is still on.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 Passat Wlfsburg Edition with 4,300 miles on it. In the message center it stated "Tire Pressure Too Low!" There is also a tire yellow warning light lit. I checked the tire pressure. They were all at 30 psi. I inflated them to 33 psi as stated on the door jamb. The light and message are still there. I checked the owners manual and it doesn't say how to reset it or anything. What should I do?
View 24 RepliesSo tonight I'm driving on I-80 and all of a sudden I hear a thud, the TPMS light comes on and a warning of low tire pressure. I get out to take a lot and the rear left tire is practically flat. Changing the tire was pretty easy once I figured out where everything was in the tray.
So now I'm in the market for a replacement tire as there was a huge hole in tread. I have a about 3000 miles on the car. Would you get a replacement tire that is the same make/model as the rest of the tires, or would you simply get a cheaper replacement? Once I am ready to replace the rest of the tires, I'm not sure if I would replace them with the OEM make/model anyway. At the same time I'm not sure how long the OEM's will last.
My warning light for my tire pressure came on, I fixed the tires and now it won't go off. Is there a reset button I need to press? I can't find it in the manual ...
