Golf/GTI VI :: TPMS Light Came On Today
Jul 1, 2011
Checked all four tires and they all read 38psi. (detroits) I put 2lbs in each just to see if it would go away, but nothing.

View 8 RepliesAs we all know the 2010 model has had a recall on its power steering. I had my VIN checked by someone on here a couple of months ago because the chrome wrap on the interior handles were peeling and found that the recalls for both were still open.
I was hoping to wait until spring break to get it done but it looks like I have to get it done sooner since the light finally came on. The only symptom I've experienced is that steering wheel loosely moves a couple of centimeters before the power steering seems to catch it, is this the reason why there's a recall?
How long this recall, along with the door handles recall, usually takes to fix. Also, will asking the dealer for a recall check while getting an oil change be sufficient enough to get the recall done?
Having issues with TPMS lights not going off? I've checked my tires 3 different times on 2 different gauges and I have to correct PSI in all 4 but the damn light wont turn off. It's driving me NUTS!
View 9 RepliesThe other night I was driving home and my tps light came on, Wasn't sure if it fluctuated because of the weather. So I waited until the morning, checked the light and it was still on. I checked the pressure of the tires (stock) and they were all around 36, I checked the door panel and it said they should be 41. I filled them up to 41, however the light did not go off. I held the reset button and it went off and hasn't come on. It didn't blink when it came on. It popped on and was solid.
View 5 RepliesAll 4 tires on my R32 at 40psi, but the TPMS light still on. Just wondering what PSI all R32 owner running?
View 24 RepliesI recently swapped wheels on my girlfriends 2010 golf and the tpms light came on. I've searched and know i will need a Vagcom and tire pressure reset button to set the system like my new 2012. I'm thinking of just getting my own Vagcom as we now have two newer cars and it seems like every part of the car has a sensor! Looking at the Ross-tech website I'm a little confused as to buy and where to get it.
View 1 RepliesI was wondering if the spare tire could cause the TMPS to go off because i checked all four wheels and they are at 39 psi just to be safe and still its on.
View 5 RepliesI was just curious how to get the TPMS sensor light to go off the vag com prompts me that it has been rejected? And id like to kill airbag light any possibly way through vag com to do that ... I'm installing a momo tomorrow And was curious the way to disable it
View 2 RepliesSo today I upgraded to a set of 18" interlagos from 17" denvers. My TPMS light is flashing then stays on (malfunction). Do I just need to reset settings via vagcom?
View 10 RepliesSwitched my wheels at Discount Tires/America's Tires and for some reason my TPMS warning light won't go away. It's been more than 24hrs and I've driven over 100 miles, even put the tires to 42psi but still the warning light won't go away. The shop did rebuilt the TPMS due to the wheel change but it's nothing out of the ordinary so I am not sure what's going on here.
View 2 RepliesI just got new tires installed on Saturday. I drove home about 3 miles with no problems. I then started driving this morning and when I got on the highway (70+ mph) the TPMS light came on. I pulled over and all of the tires looked fine. I tried resetting the button but it immediately came back on. I then had to drive about 20 miles round trip down to the 1st exit and back home. I attempted to go to the tire installer but they were closed. I checked the tire pressure next door at a gas station and all the tires had 38-40 psi.
Two things of note. The passenger side tires stem caps did not screw on tight, instead they would just keep spinning. I don't think tight caps could have caused this though. Secondly the tires were replaced because they had very little tread left and I hit numerous pot holes one night causing a flat in one and a bubble in another. Why this would happen. I would think a bent rim could cause the air to leak but the pressures where perfect all around.
I recently had my tpms light turn on when I started my car in the morning. It blinked for about a minute and then stayed on. After checking my tire pressure and seeing they were all normal, I checked online and found that when the tpms light acts like it is for me, it means there is a malfunction somewhere, so rather than deal with trying to fix it, I went into vagcom to turn it off. I went to the proper byte/box for tpms and unchecked it. But the light is still on...
View 14 RepliesIt's the same every time. forty minutes into a drive and the TPMS light starts blinking. It blinks for about three minutes and then goes solid. After two minutes or so the light goes off completely. Every time I check, my tire pressure is perfect. I carry a good analog gauge with me and monitor pressure obsessively.
View 4 RepliesI just got st coils and apr stg1 software put in my car and love it. the question i have is the other day my tpms light came on, so when the guys installed my software (today) the tried to set the pressures and clear the light and it wont go off i want to take it to the dealer but I don't want them to give me a hard time about the mods.
View 3 RepliesI just got my car back from the dealer last night (the 4th time it's been in for service in under three months of ownership, pathetic). When I turned the car on this morning I got a blinking icon on the odometer. The icon is the same as the low tire pressure icon except the MFD doesn't show air pressure is low and the icon is flashing for the first minute or so. I checked out the tires anyway. When I tried to unscrew the valve cover the metal piece came right off leaving the inner rubber portion stuck over the valve stem. This was the same scenario for 3 of my 4 wheels. I'm assuming one of the fools from the service department put a death grip on the caps after refilling the tires (part of the "full circle service, tires/tpms had nothing to do with why my car was in). My question is, why this light is on? The pressure isn't low and there is nothing wrong with the way it drives. I'm stumped and don't want to have to bring my car back in. [IMG][URL]....
View 24 RepliesYesterday, I swapped my OEM 18" setup for new 17" winter wheels and tires (set at 37.5 PSI at 55 F)). Today I drove 30 miles and then my TPMS light came on (Temp=36F). Pulled over, checked pressure - all tires at 36.5 PSI.
View 6 RepliesOn my MKVI the tire pressure monitor warning light would go off once the tires were inflated to the proper pressure. Does the MKVII do that or do you need to reset the system after every warning?
View 1 Replies2013 prius V. Noticed a humming/moaning noise today at very low speeds. Don't think it was the electric motor, as it didn't indicate that it was charging.
View 6 Replies1995 Subaru Impreza. Has died several times w/in last 3 months when slowed down to stop or park. Power dummy light comes on when it dies. Resumes back to normal by turning ignition off and back on again. Check oil/power steering fluid regularly. Added extra oil week ago, too much oil perhaps? Car has history of smelling like it's burning either oil/power steering fluid when operated at high RMPs (ie climbing hills/accelerating). Smoke sometimes comes from under hood. Automatic, doesn't shift down very quickly. I either go super slow to keep RPMs low, or punch it to try and get it to shift. Last night/today:loud/almost grinding noise from under hood, all dummy lights went on, then died, completely fuctionless. any speculations?
View 11 RepliesThursday driving home from work, the thing started dinging and all sorts of lights started flashing at me. I looked in the manual and (finally) found that it is the TPMS. The orange light on the left side blinks for 1 minute and then stays on steady. I also see "Check System" in the display under the speedometer and there is a red light with an explanation point (!) on the right side. Checked all tire pressure. All were at 30 PSI. Checked spare, it was good. Manual says if it blinks and stays steady, contact your dealer. Called...they can't look at it until Feb. 12. I drive 40 miles a day on average. Not a lot, but by 2/12 that is several hundred miles. what could be wrong and if i should still be driving this car?
View 14 RepliesMy gf calls me today to tell me her tire pressure light is on. She's only had it a month! Not even! Is this a common occurance? It has been bitterly cold here the past few days, could that be a factor? I don't see any reason for the light to come on less than a month into having the vehicle.
