So two weeks after an unreasonably stiff rear sway bar install, my back doors seem to have gotten rather squeaky when roads are anything but perfect. Opening them and giving them a tight close seems to satisfy them for a few minutes, but I need a better solution.
Is this just a job for some silicone spray in the latches? Hinges?
Bump the sway bar down to 90%?
Is there an adjustment somewhere I could be doing to tighten everything up?
I have a 2006 Jetta and can not open my 2 back doors either from inside or out. You can hear the electronic locks lock/unlock, but doors will not open. Took it to the dealer and they said " Testing found FRONT door latches have an internal open circuit malfunction. They want to replace switches.

The back doors have the same but they appear to not be lighted -- is this by design? I would think they would all light up.
View 8 RepliesI just bought a (new to me) 2007 RX 350. Love the car. The only problem is that the previous owner had kids and he let them do whatever they wanted inside the car. I got the car detailed and cleaned but I noticed that the centre console doors towards the back don't open and close. When I press the open button it opens ever so slightly and when I press close I can feel that the spring is trying to close the door but nothing happens.
View 13 RepliesI have a 1997 Astro van and recently I shut the back doors (two door version) and now they will not open/unlock. I tried the power locks as well as the key. I read where you can take off the speaker cover in the door and reach thru and unlock/release from there. That did not work either. Not sure WHY Chevy decided not to put interior release handles. Any trick to opening the doors so I can see what the problem is?

I've been sleeping in my excursion alot and have been enjoying it, i find exiting out the back doors is much easier but i have no way to open them from a shut position. I do see a cover of a small slotted whole and think it might be part to future customizing but haven't found such a mod. So how I can open my back doors from the inside?
View 9 RepliesI rarely drive with anyone else in my 2004 Prius. This week we've had out-of-town guests, with two people in the back seat. When the doors are locked, the front seat passenger can pull on the handle to open the door, but the back seat passengers can't open their doors with the handle until someone in one of the front seats pushes the door unlock button. The child safety locks are not set. I keep getting out of my car and forgetting to push the button to let the back seat passengers open their doors. Is there anything I can do to change this rear door behavior?
View 2 RepliesA while ago both back doors on my 01 crew cab stopped working. The outside handles jiggle loose but the inside ones feel like normal. They both went at about the same time. If it's those little black boxes that mount by the handle on the door, how do I even get to it to change it if it's stuck shut? I can't reach my hand in there either to even try to see what's wrong with it. How to get it open?

1. lube all moving part of the seat with out removing the seat
2. bring the seat up and down and move all part.this seen to work but temp
I have always been afraid this day would come - that the engine would outlast the door and window systems.
I have never previously in life wanted a vehicle with electric assisted windows and doors for this reason - remember when those were expensive foo-foo options on a vehicle?
Anyway the back passenger door window has not worked for a couple years now. Not too big a deal.
A month ago the back passenger door could no longer be opened from either side. Not too good and I couldn't see much of a way to ever fix it.
This morning the back driver side door won't open from either side. The lock only half-heartedly wants to unlock via the powered system though it can be fully pulled up manually (not as possible on the passenger side rear).
Next up will be the front doors...
This has been annoying me a little bit. When I get in my car when it's been raining, I try to wipe my shoes off on the carpet before touching the pedals but all it takes is little bit of water. i hate the squeaking and my foot has slipped off the clutch a few times.
View 7 RepliesMy car is a 99.5 Jetta 2.0 5 speed. Recently it had developed a squeak coming from the front right wheel. It speeds up/slows down based on vehicle speed. I jacked up the car to examine and once the wheel was off I checked everything and it appeared fine. Wheel bearing, tierod, and ball joint all replaced a few months ago, and brake pads and rotors replaced a week ago.
With the wheel off I spun rotor and it did still make the noise. That being said it rules out the possibility of anything to do with the wheel or any bushings. Obvious answer would be the brakes but they are brand new and appear fine. Anything missing?
I just recently bought an R about a month ago. I am having a problem with my brakes. It seems that every time I hit the brakes and come to a complete stop my brakes scream with this annoying squeaky sound ... My car has a little over 800 miles haven't driven hard, or dogged the car just been taking it nice and smooth for a proper break in.
View 20 RepliesFor the past few weeks, I thought I was hearing something squeak but I always passed it off as just the radio, but this morning I had the radio off and heard it again (and more intensely) The closest thing I could think it sounded like was when you drag your hand over a latex balloon.
Is it possible that this was a puck that didn't get removed? I'm at about 4500 miles and I got the car at 300 and would dread to think that I've been driving around with it all that time.
As the temps around here drop, my brake pads have started to squeak like no other. Turning down a small driveway, rolling to a stop at at light.. Just anything in general under 10 mph. I have been pretty happy with my OE pads but I'm wondering if I should use this opportunity to change the pads for some aftermarket bits.

I'm interested in some color matching door grease. I've always hated the black gunky door grease. Why? Cause I'm OCD. I saw on the MKVI R [on CW anyways] their door hinge grease was color matched.
If this is too absurd, any recommendations for removing/cleaning the grease currently on the door hinge and replacing it? It comes off as straight forward.
I've been dealing with a frustrating issue for a while now. Whenever I use my key fob the alarm sets but my front and back driver side doors won't lock. After playing around I've noticed that the driver's side door locks when actually inserting the key and turning. Also, all of the doors lock when I am sitting in the driver's seat and push the lock button on the door panel but the back driver's side door won't unlock unless I crank the vehicle and hit the unlock button. I don't think the key fob has a low battery because I've used both key fobs and it locks one side but not the other. It's all very weird to me. The situation is frustrating for two reasons:
1) Doors are not actually locking so thieves have access to whatever they can grab and run away;
2) I occasionally forget to hit the unlock button and cause my alarm to go off and annoy neighbors, coworkers, etc.
What could be causing this? I'd like a quick fix but I'm afraid I'm going to have to open up the door panels and play around all weekend.
I have a 2003 Lexus GS 300 with 125k. Two problems. First, the back doors don't lock or unlock electronically (well, very rarely one will unlock). The only way to lock/unlock them is to manually reach around. It started with the driver's side back door almost two years ago, and in the past 7-8 months the other one started doing the same thing.
Also, the steering wheel automatically moves out of position when the key is removed, and automatically back into position when the car is started. A nice feature, but the steering wheel screams when it moves up and down. It's loud and embarrassing.
