I notice the door rattles a lot now, more noticeably over bumps. Also, I don't really turn my music that loud, but when it is I can hear the rattle as well. Any quick fixs for this? Or would it be easier to get the dealer to try to fix this during my 5000 mile maintenance?
View 6 RepliesI am on my 3rd GTI, a 2013 GTI Autobahn, came out of 2011 GTI Sunroof/conv model. I have various rattling noises in this car. The sunglasses holder rattles all the time especially when i am listening to music with a little bass, the roof rattles a bit but that seems to go away if i close the sunroof shade, also my front passenger door rattles.
View 22 RepliesJust in case the dealer wants to be a jerk and skip fixing the rattles I have on my car, just curious about creaking noises coming from the front doors. I have one that is pretty bad on the passenger side door. It sounds like a small creek, it happens when i go through roads that are not perfect. The noise goes away if I push against the door panel, not so much when I yank it in. I currently have a broken driver seat too, so hard to pinpoint if I have the exact same problem on the driver side front door, but the creaking is the same.
View 14 RepliesFront passenger door rattles on cold idle. When the engine starts up when cold, the passenger door panel resonates with engine idle. It doesn't rattle with bumps on the road, just the engine vibration.
I took it to a dealer and they added some foam padding and I thought it was fixed, but the next day I noticed the same issue except now the buzzing is "tighter" and faster and a bit muffled. Opening the door stops it. After the engine warms up and idles at a different RPM, it is no longer noticeable.
What this is?
The second rattle started when the weather cooled down for winter. The center console rattles with bumps in the road.
These noises are minor, but so annoying, so I need to get it fixed soon.
I have a 2008 GS 350.........85k miles. Last week noticed an annoying rattle in front passenger door towards the top just below the window. Should I bring this up to the service technician at my next Lexus dealer service visit?

View 4 RepliesWell, I had a friend put together my front brake rotor, now no more pulsating when coming to a stop, very smooth stop, new front brakes, had it aligned as well.. Also replaced the front shocks, however the passenger side came loose and rattles when going over bumps, speed bumps. I popped the hood, bounced my truck and could see it moving from left to right when bouncing front end of truck.
Question is, can i tighten it up myself, I dont have a jack, limited tools, I know, I know but i dont at the moment. My friend that worked on my truck lives a good drive and i hate to waste gas just for tightening something that should have been done but i have too, I will..
Having issues with passenger side door making noise on the highway at higher speeds or over bumps? I've recently begun to notice a slight rattle coming from the passenger side door when at highway speeds which becomes more noticeable and annoying when driving over a bump or less smooth roadways. I just reached 1500 miles. I have looked around on the forum and found some issues that various GTI owners experienced most dated from last year (talked with a MK6 GTI owner today at work who mentioned there was a recall not too long ago on this issue?), but I feel like that would have been since fixed with the R if the recall was last year.
View 9 Replies2006 with 110K. I did a search for rattles. My question is do these struts have bushings or shims that wear out over time. Going down the road car is nice and quiet. Hit some bumps and it sounds like it is coming apart.
View 5 RepliesSo I finally decided to look into all the little creaks and rattles that the R makes while going over bumps in the road.
-Wrapped the latches of the rear seats in electrical tape, and put adhesive velcro (soft side) on the back of the seats where it meets plastic.
-Took apart the center console and put adhesive felt around the areas where plastic makes contact with other plastic
-Put adhesive felt inside the aluminum trim & Monsoon radio to stop shaking
So all those little fixes eliminated most of the rattling sounds in the car. All that I need to look into are the driver and passenger doors to secure whatever is rattling/shaking inside those panels. Something to do this coming week. I normally would leave these noises alone, but damn they drive me crazy like it's a form of Chinese water torture. I hope to have no more rattles in the following week.
On my GLI, the passenger side doorpin rattles obnoxiously. I read an old thread that said to wrap the door pin with scotch tape, but I was hoping for something more permanent.

View 8 RepliesI just noticed on my front passenger door, when I pull the handle, the top of the door is rubbing against the rubber. It seems to be shifted a little down, especially on the top left corner of the door. What's going on with it. Doesn't open as smooth as the door once did.
View 6 RepliesI have an 03 GLI and am having a little issue. My passenger front door won't latch. The tumbler, for lack of a better word, is in the proper position and swings freely; but it never catches. If I use a screwdriver I can push it all the way back; but there's not so much as a click when it gets all the way back and just swings back out.
View 1 RepliesSo I've had a gremlin in the front door of my wife's grey Mk6 GTI since we got it. I took it to the VW dealership only for them not to fix it. The door panel sits on the woofer in the bottom of the door and it sort of sounds like the speaker is blown, but if you pull out on the panel pocket the sound goes away so I'm pretty sure that it's the panel and not the speaker. I attempted to take off the panel and didn't read up on it first so I broke the pocket (like a friggen moron). Now I both need to problem solve the sounding speaker but also find a replacement door panel. I live in Severn, MD.

I just got an LED interior kit, but haven't got it in the mail yet, so it is still on the stock bulbs from the factory, is it a dual filament bulb that just needs replacing?

View 15 RepliesI have been trying to fix a problem with my 06 Mazda3 (almost 90K miles) for, maybe 7-9 months now. I just got home from getting my struts all changed for about $1200 (and I would guess I am $1700+ in the hole overall on it) without fixing the problem.
It started that going over bumps would cause the front passenger tire to "bottom out" and yield a quick "thud-thud-thud" that was very distinct from sound the driver side made, which was fewer, deeper "thuds". The, later, I got noises that initially sounded like the tire brushing against the wheel well when I made sharp right turns. The noise would be more pronounced when I would turn hard right from a stop (so I would be accelerating). I would also sometimes get the suspension to "shudder" on the passenger side when I would accelerate suddenly. It seems like the nose of the car dipping during acceleration is what gets the rubbing/grinding noise.
I have brought this up at 3 oil changes at different places and brought the car in multiple other times when it bothered me. Every time they have told me everything looks fine. The noise used to happen sporadically but I could do it intentionally if I tried. Now it has gotten worse and it even happens when I bring it to the tire place, so at least I seem less paranoid. I am comforted that everything looks in order, but have avoided even getting on the highway for months fearing my wheel would fly off.
Since this started, I have:- replaced the tires- rotated the tires- replaced the brakes- replaced the front shocks- replaced all of the struts (2 hours ago)
and in my ignorance and desperation tried to replace the wheel bearings, cv joints, and tie rods but was told they are fine. I had to push to get the shocks replaced, using the mileage as justification.
I am going to bring the car back to where I had my struts done 7am tomorrow morning, tell them it is still happening, and see if they can take another look. If no dice maybe I'll call car talk a few hours later.
