I have a 4 door GTI and almost every time I hit some kind of bump I hear noises from the rear passenger side door. It sounds like the door is not completely latched on and it bouncing/wiggling inside the door jam. I've checked that the door is closed all the way and that there are no gaps in the panels or anything of that sort.

View 4 RepliesMy wife and I just noticed today in our 2010 GTI that the rear passenger door does not lock at all. It does not matter if I use the remote or the one on the drivers door. Also when I use the remote, the alarm sets but when the back door is opened it doesn't go off.

View 11 RepliesMy MK4 golf has the rear passenger door shut, cannot be opened from inside or out. The outside handle has no tension, just floppy.
I managed to take the card off, even though I cannot open the door.
So my issue is if I keep dismantling til I get to the door lock, is there any simple way to open the door ? I've seen lots where people can change the lock if the door opens but can it be opened if the door is closed or do I somehow have to smash the lock ?
Started a month ago. Whenever I go over a bump, steep incline, or even just turn right (not left) the car makes this creaking, almost groaning, sound from the right rear.
Hard to isolate it since when I push down on the right rear from the outside I can't hear anything. Gonna head into the dealership to see what they think this week but it's always a fight trying to get them to do in warranty service .
My rear door panel has been creaking ever since I got the car. The creaking noise seems to get worse every day. Ca a dealer will be able to isolate the noise and gent it fixed. Scheduled an appointment already for next Friday.
View 6 RepliesI seem to be getting a creaking noise (the same sound you get when you lean on the armrest) coming from the passenger side rear. It sounds like it is coming from the hatch, but I can't quite narrow it down. The creaking noise appears when I drive slowly over bumps.
View 5 RepliesNow that I have the audio upgraded in my LS, we have uncovered a slight issue with the drivers rear door. The installers will work with me, but I thought there is so much knowledge up here, why not ask.
Everything else on the vehicle works perfect, its just this one door as if all the power is off or disconnected.(ACC or ON power it functions fine) I have checked the fuses under the driver side and the ones in the trunk, they are all fine and we took the front driver door apart to make sure any connections were good. everything seems secure, we even looked over the ECU in the door to make sure it didn't seem fried or anything, all functions on front and passenger doors are perfect.
Here are the symptoms: passenger rear door light wont come on with the door open unless the ACC is on. the other 3 turn on, with or without ACC.
The door lock actuator from the outside on this door wont lock the doors or with the sensing when you approach with the fob and grab the handle (as in the lights there wont light up).
The door closer that finishes off the door being slightly open wont grab and pull it in.
The trunk lights wont come on and there is no fuse or connection issue we can see. Its puzzling.
There is a creaking sound coming from my driver's side door only when turning right. It sounds like it's specifically coming from the strike plate or latch area. I've pinpointed it to the door because it doesn't happen when I slightly open it but leave it hinged.
View 15 RepliesI was wondering if the wind noise problem and the door creaking are both problems resulting from the doors on the 2-door models? I only ask because I'm about to go in for my 3-month courtesy check and wanted to get it checked out.
My doors creak a lot and it really annoys me when I drive at low speeds with the radio off. The wind noise isn't that big but I do notice that there is a lot of wind noise coming from my sunroof rather than my windows/door.
MKVI GTI's are well known for body flex and creaking squeaking noises coming from door seals while going over large bumps, especially at an angle. Has VW resolved this issue on the MKVII?
View 5 RepliesMy passenger side front and rear windows dont work. Both driver side windows work, just not the right side/passenger side.
Also when I press the master door lock/unlock switch on the driver seat, every door except the rear passenger door works. It stays unchanged so I guess it is not receiving a signal or something is not letting the signal reach the lock.
Got a 03 GTI VR6 and my drivers door kept on making this creaking/popping noise(it is very similar to the creaking noise of a old wooden door or the sound you hear in horror movies but for a lot shorter duration). The sound seems to come up when I accelerate, break take off from a complete stop. I took the car into the dealership and they torqed some bolt on the hinge and the creaking went away. Not a month later the passenger door develops the same creaking. The dealer tries to torqe the bolt on the hinge again and they say it cant be done and that their body shop needs to replace the hinge. They paint a hinge for me and put it on but don't get the door adjustments right so I get a lot of wind noise. Finally they adjust the door right and all is well.
A while later the drivers door starts creaking again! I went to another dealership and did an oil change while I was away on a trip to Toronto and the service technician said he could lubricate the door gasket and that this will take the creaking away. So he did. Now granted that has taken the creaking away but after some rain and 2 car washes the creaking came back in full swing.
I call the dealership to set up an appointment and they refuse to look at the door saying that as far as they are concerned the vehicle is up to manufacturers specs and that they will need to get a VW rep to look at it. In the mean time I call the vw customer care which tells me that they contacted the dealer and that the dealer beleves that the car is up to manufacturers specifications and that the noise I am hearing is normal and that all the cars have this noise.
Now I owned an 02 Golf GL 2dr and never heard that sound. It's been a month and a half and neither the dealer or vw customer care have called to inform me when the VW area rep. will be coming to have a look at the issue. It looks like I hit a dead end with having my issue acknowledged and looked at. Is this really a standard noise on the mk4 2dr platforms ? How I should pursue this issue ?!? Anything ?!
I am having a creaking coming from my rear wheel i have went back and tightened everything up to correct torques its a creaking like something is loose. I did just put my summer wheels back on with my adapters (h&r) and have tightened everything up to correct specs. I cant seem to figure out what the noise is i am hopefully going to get a video up of the noise. I tightened everything up in the break system (caliper pins/rollers made sure the pads were okay, the pads and rotros are new).
Suspension is tight (coilovers). Just cant seem to figure out the issue i have been through it a thousand times and the noise just gets louder and quicker as I accelerate that how i figure its on rotation.
So I've had this moaning/creaking noise for the last few weeks that seems to be getting worse and worse. The noise is most noticeable when coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop - once at higher speeds it goes away... but when coming to a stop or slowly accelerating from a stop, the car literally sounds a pirate ship - kind of scared to keep driving without knowing exactly whats going on...
I've completely disassembled and reassembled the rear suspension multiple times and everything is lubricated, tight and proper....
Considering Ive looked at everything in the rear - Is there anyway possible that even though the sound seems to be coming from the rear - that maybe it could just be bad strut bearings or mount in the front? And maybe there is just some funny reason (some sort of audible illusion?) why I seem to be so certain about hearing the sounds from the rear and not the front?
Not sure about hearing a creaking/moaning noise from the rear - only to find out it was actually bad strut mounts or bearings in the front or maybe even bad front LCA bushings? I'm just a little lost and really unsure of what else could be causing this ridiculous noise..
While driving, the drive side door makes a creaking/clunking/rattle/popping noise. Its so damn annoying. It's all the time, if you roll the window down it doesn't do it as loud, but its cold out..
View 24 RepliesSo I took my GTI in for TSBs, new wipers, the door seal creak and new wheels (old ones were not painted behind the spokes) - when it was returned to me, I noticed (after I got home) the red door stripe on the passenger side would not light up. At one point they had taken that door panel off to see if it was creaking instead of the seals (which of course, it was not) and I assume that they forgot to connect something, or unplugged something accidentally. Any other suggestion, like a magical fuse I can replace? I so don't want to travel 60 miles back to this guy. And not only did they not fix the seals, the noise is worse than before, I think from them messing with the doors. But anyway, I'm looking for possible DIY fixes.

- the dashboard curve above instrument panel creaks constantly (even when the car is torqued in a slow turn)
- right rear passenger door creaks where panel meets doorframe and where wood trim meets door panel
- storage box above center vents creaks
- passenger door creaks where leather patch meets door panel
- smalls wood strip above light switch is damn near falling off (not just wood part, the entire aluminum/wood panel)
- some kinda thump (sounds more substantial than trim) from the rear over larger bumps.
- top compartment closure of armrest leaves a 1/4" play that creaks when even the slightest pressure is applied.
and I am sure several more I just cant locate
Bottom line, I waiting for an '05 because I thought they would have the bugs out, but this things is miserable. Even the smallest of ripples in smooth pavement sends my ears pointing toward some awful creak or rattle. And even if I bring these things up to the dealer, 1) will they be willing to fix and 2) is it really in their realm of ability? I just want my car to be quiet like it was designed, right now sounds worse than the 120k miles 97 chevy suburban my friend has.
Have a '99 K1500 Suburban. My passenger rear door lock will not move. It is very difficult to pull up the lock in order to open the door. The keyless entry and master door lock does not work on this door. None of the other locks seem to have trouble. Does this sound like something is bent or need cleaning?? Or could it be the actuator?? Doesn't seem to be electrical because the lock will not move??
View 9 RepliesI tried searching around, but nothing. the rear door on the passenger side sticks out a little, im wondering if there is an adjustment i can do to fix this.. its out less than a quarter inch. someone said adjust the striker, but i cant seem to find it.
