I was wondering if most of you here cool down your turbo for a minute or two before turning your car off after driving it kind of aggressive for a while? In the past I've heard people say "Most turbo failures happen from improper warm up and cool down".

View 1 RepliesMy 1999 Volvo has been diagnosed by a Volvo dealer to have a bad "cooling fan relay". Another shop analysis states the "cooling motor fan assembly module" is the problem. Are these one in the same? Can I replace it with one from the salvage yard? Are there any bad omens with messing up other electronic components If I make the repair myself?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2005 Subaru Forester with 88k on it. I bought it with about 70k on and have been doing a lot of the services myself.
I change the oil religiously. I recently changed the thermostat on the car, cleaned out the reservoir and now the car has new antifreeze. The reason I did this was because cars cooling fan is always going at full blast. This only started about 6,000 miles ago. So since it was a easy job I figured change the thermostat. I am in NY and it has been very cold out, but with my 10 mile commute to work by the time I pull into the parking lot the cooling fan is very loud and the noise is very noticeable.
I recently drove up to go skiing, ( the temp outside was 9 degrees) I was on the interstate going about 70 to 77 mph because the car was going uphill and the incline was significant , I would push more on the gas pedal and I would see the thermostat on the dash going up very closely to the red mark. I pulled over a few time, the fans were at full blast.
Recently had some bad luck and need to get new rims - what's the proper offset for the R? OEM offset is et50 correct? I'm thinking of getting a set of either BBS CHs or RS4s but want to know what the best offset is for the rim.
View 7 RepliesThe two slow engine is starting to bug me. Acceleration from 0-50km/h is getting a little ridiculous. Any way to improve acceleration performance other than stepping hard on the gas pedal and make it rev. 4km rpm ? When I compare this with my gf's 2.5L Golf its just day and night difference.
I don't want a noisy muffler or anything like that. I have never modded cars before and I'm not planning to go down that route either. After all this engine is over 10 years old right?
On my MKVI the tire pressure monitor warning light would go off once the tires were inflated to the proper pressure. Does the MKVII do that or do you need to reset the system after every warning?

View 17 RepliesWhat is the point that the headspacer fitment doesn't affect the fitting of the upper timing chain considering that the time chain rails etc are brand new also i have seen fitment with a 2mm headspacer plus a spilt oem headgasket which is rougly 0.65mm to give 9,1:1 cr if i am not mistaken,is this the limit then if going with two full oem headgaskets and a 2mm headspacer which will give us a result of 8,8:1 cr do u think that the timing chain will not fit?

Problem with GPS not showing your proper location. I did get window tinting done but with a film that is not suppose to interfere. Also got a clean air sticker I installed on my windshield up by the rearview mirror. This lets you drive in the hov lanes in UT with only one person in the car. Couple of questions, where is the gps antenna and how can I check the signal strength? couldn't find it in the manual. Also, the car is 3 months old and this problem just started recently.

View 24 RepliesI am inquiring what the proper way to use the A/C would be. Here in Sacramento my car will be hot as hell when I get in the car. I am still figuring out the best way to cool the car down. How does the "LO" compare with the temperature gauge? I am noticing that when I use the 65 instead of the LO that the A/C feels cooler, but that could be just me.

my rad. the fan kicks on and off randomly for some reason, when it does it makes my idle jump up a few hundred RPM's at the same time. it can be 20 sec. after I start my car, from a cold start, or anytime. AC is not on, as I leave it on the economy. this is in a 2006 A3 3.2 (not that it should matter)
are there any common issues that I should check? fan switch? or any other sensor that might be the cause?
I've been struggling with this issue for several months now and cant find the issue. My R32 is fully build 6767 turbo and all supporting mods, it has UM 870cc tune and a PRO Maf. Suddenly it started being too rich at idle, wont even start some times and when you press the gas it dies. When MAF is disconnected it will start but when pressing the gas it will die also. Fuel system is a twin 044 Bosch and OEM fuel pump with a FPR. Been trying with different fuel pressure but it doesn't change anything. What could it be the problem?
View 1 RepliesI got my R flashed about a month ago and decided to do a little run 2 days ago at my local track (BYW I am APR stage 1+) Because I thought the software removed the speed limiter of 125 MPH, I was suprised when car got to 135 and completely stopped accelerating. When I slowed down, it was like the car had no turbo. I would press on the gas and it would barely move.
Idk if it was the turbo or the software. When I stopped I turned off the car and turned it right back on and BOOM, it was back to normal. So yesterday, the same thing happened at 110 MPH and I restarted it and everything was back to normal but now the Engine Malfunction Light is on but everything is working fine.
What is the proper way to rotate the tires on the GX and how frequent should be done?
View 14 RepliesMy 2000 Corolla CE does not have ABS, I've heard the correct way to brake is to pump the brakes. Should I press the brake slowly and then depress fully and then press again OR should I press the brake, depress half way, and press again? How fast should I pulsate it? My commute involves a lot of braking and I don't want the rotors to become warped.
