Golf/GTI VI :: Oil Inlet Line On Turbo Leaking
Oct 30, 2012
Dropped her off at the dealer for the 30k service and minor oil leak near the turbo.
-Water pump replaced (never did whine nor did I notice it leaking)
-Valve cover gasket replaced
-Oil inlet line on turbo leaking
-Wastegate clamp
-Driver side window regulator
Already had my intake mani replaced around 25k miles. Hopefully this will cover all the known/dreaded Mk6 issues. My 1.8T was bulletproof.

The fuel line on the passenger side under the turbo that leads to the head is leaking looks like from rubbing on the pedestal, anyone ever just cut it and throw in some fuel line and hose clamps?

Is it bad if there is oil coming out of the valve cover breather going into the turbo inlet? I noticed the sides of the turbo inlet on the top is lightly covered in oil.

I have a GTI with a turbo that leaks oil.I don't exactly know what to do. The guy i bought it from said it had "Bad Seals" I've seen many rebuild kits online for my turbo(KO3) Looking through the kits i really only sea one seal. One single O-ring. So that doesn't seem right but this is my first turboed vehicle so i can honestly say I don't know much. Should I buy the Rebuild kit or should I just buy a new Turbo? Any video to reference too because i don't even know how to remove my turbo.
Also, on a side note. I was being a show off one day and tried speeding off like a dick.I went from first and grinded HARD into second and since then I haven't had first gear. Now i suspect its my synchros. But like i've said before. I don't know much.

I bought my RS a little more than a month ago. Low and behold about two weeks later my drivers side footwell and behind the drivers seat collected about 2 inches of rain water.
I have searched far and wide and perhaps I'm missing something...My leak is not in the rear which I have seen plenty of info and a couple awesome DIY's. My leak is coming from the panels by the fuse box and hood release. The original owner had done the service to it where the nipples are cut and drained. When I poured a cup of water in the front left drain in the sunroof water comes out of the nipple as well...

I have a leak in my rear wiper fluid line on my GTI. When I use the rear washer, I get a pool of fluid in the driver side taillight and under the rear seats. I'm getting some fluid in the rear driver side headliner as well so the break must be there. First step is to pull the headliner.

I am looking at a 05 GLI 5 speed with 133k miles. I drove it yesterday and it runs fine, but I smelled coolant after I turned it off. I was told by the dealer that the turbo is leaking some, it was spooling while driving and didn't seem to do anything funny. The check engine light came on and said coolant was low when we got back, when I cranked it back up the light was out. Just not sure about it.

The ford dealer in Las Vegas replaced my turbo with a remanufactured one. Coming off the line (like quickly pulling into traffic) it goes flat on power until I get a few RPM's. Even with the old turbo it never did that and I drove it for the last 30k miles with it throwing the low turbo boost code. They put a little over 100 miles on it for road testing (I did have other things that they worked on. {4x4 2006 F250, 6.0 engine, 110k miles and I bought it new}....

My turbo is leaking a bit and i cant tell whats up with it.. The feed lines look good but idk I just took a quick glance between classes today... what kind of mileage life does the stock turbo have?? i have 134k on it...and it seems to build boost fine but it wine of the turbo is getting louder by the day....time for a new one??? is the k04 ok...i just want a little more umph... I don't want to get crazy does the k04 bolt strait up??? and i found a dealer that does custom manifolds [URL] ....
Yes I have heard that the gt28rs...and like turbos....but i have looked at the dyno sheets and i want low-end torque...i drive mostly free way so shifting in city traffic is a nonissue...but i just been glancing at post so I am probably mistaken... is it a good idea to replace the entire system at once...(turbo, downpipe, exhaust, dv and intercooler, and piping)...and then in turn have to get a new ecu... I am kinda strapped for cash... i have never done this stuff and i searched and read up that i should do all of it but i wanted a first person conversation about it... fyi...timing belt and valves and head went over (always ask if the timing belt has been changed. my first used car dealer experience) and clutch are brand new less that 1000 miles ...

I have owned my Saturn Outlook XR (2008) for a short 2 months. My a/c stopped working about 3 weeks ago. Replaced the blower motor and air would then blow again but the a/c still does not work. Had a mechanic look at the vehicle for me and turns out that I have that haunting saturn outlook hose rubbing together causing a leak problem that so many of you have also experienced. My low pressure line is leaking. My mechanic explained what an extensive project this is, not due to the actual parts, but, the labor to reach this hose then replace it. I am not thrilled about this problem. I do not want to be paying more money out of my pocket to fix a vehicle that I haven't owned long enough to have these kinds of expenses. This clearly is an issue in more than just my vehicle and GM is not taking responsibility for this poor placement/planning of the hoses and recalling this part.

Now days I hear exhaust gas leak from inside engine room when the motor is fully warmed up and ran for some time. The other day I put seafoam treatment in the car and I saw white smoke coming from the turbo charger area.
Is exhaust gas leak from the turbo charger common? What are the possible cause for this?

Found out my 2007 Hyundai Sonata V6 GLS needs a new brake line put in. The line rusted and all brake fluid leaked out. I am very surprised that after 7 years and only 103,000 km (about 65,000 miles) the car will need a new brake line put in already. All my other cars have been Japanese and have never experienced premature failure and replacement of brake lines.
Granted, I live in Toronto, Ontario, and this year has been a cold start to winter with lots of aggressive salting. It started to get a little bit warmer the last 2 days which probably accelerated the corrosion from the salt.

It's just one thing after another with this car. Just had my uncle replace the front right cv joint (which took about 6 hours). While he was working on my car I noticed the parts of the engine looked moist (not greasy). I found that the oil feed line may be the culprit. Is this something that needs to be addressed ASAP? Or can I just ignore it for another year or so (when I may be getting a newer used car).

2003 XL 5.3L with a leaking fuel line between the tank and filter. Mechanic says that this line is only available in a kit that includes all fuel lines for the truck. Hard to believe you can't just get the one line.

I am a proud owner of '97 Grand Prix GTP, it has always been a great car with really low maintenance for me. A few days ago I noticed a mild fuel smell and I checked the gas cap, the external fuel filter, etc... Then I lifted the hood and I saw that one of the two fuel lines that run between the firewall and the brake fluid reservoir had a seepage leak in front of the factory loom that secures both lines before going over the supercharger and on to the fuel rail. A fuel leak needs to be repaired immediately, so this is where I am so far.
I noticed that the leaking fuel line is actual a rubber/plastic fuel hose that is covered by a plastic heat proof cover that protects the hose. It runs from the firewall to the fuel rail along side another fuel line of the same size (a supply & return line I believe). Just before going over the supercharger they both have quick connect metal ends that meet two metal fuel lines that end up at the fuel rail. My current issue is that this plastic/rubber hose section of fuel line is discontinued and no longer available to order according to my local GM parts dealer. The way I see it, hunting down this part can be Plan A and Plan B can be duplicating this hose by making it with high pressure fuel injection hoses and the appropriate quick connect fittings.

I have a problem. I have a nylon return fuel line that is SHOOTING out fuel at the quick connect at the fuel pump. See video: [URL] ....
How do I repair? I think the o-rings in the quick connect went bad. I'm thinking to dip the connector in hot water to soften up the nylon, take the old connector off, and put a new connector on. What size connector I need?

This line is rusted out on my V10 and leaking fluid.
How hard/expensive is this to fix?
I'm in the middle of doing my exhaust manifolds right now, so I'm hoping it's a simple bolt-on fix.

I think the top AC line that runs from the back of the compressor is leaking on my '01. It looks straightforward to replace, but I don't have any way to evacuate or recover the R134a refrigerant. Is this something that an AC place has to fix, or is there a way to do this on my own?

What are the repercussions of my turbo leaking, and how do I fix it? Could this cause white smoke to blow out of my exhaust when i take off after the car idles for about 10 minutes, the smoke goes away, but if I let it idle again for about 10 minutes it blows out more smoke. Also the oil consumption is really high, obviously due to the oil leak, is the turbo bad, do I need to change it?

Would there be much oil in the down pipe if the oil deal was leaking on the turbo? I broke it loose to look at it and not much there, one small area that looked like it has had on it..
