This morning I started up my car and I heard the sound of liquid swooshing about. I thought "ok" I checked for leaks later and found a pink almost clear liquid dripping from underneath the driver's side. It doesn't smell like anything but I figure it must be coolant though the coolant tank levels seem about right.
View 2 RepliesSo I was riding with no music on--had family in from out of town--and noticed a strange noise coming from behind the dash on the driver's side. Hard to describe but almost a liquid-type noise (although not a liquid) and repetitive. Doesn't happen all of the time but happens frequently. Not loud enough to hear over music or even road noise on a highway.
Almost a swoosh, swoosh with sort of clicking. Wish I could describe it better.
Ok so here's the deal.. A few weeks back I started to notice my passenger side window started to roll slower than the driver side, not by much but its pretty obvious enough every time you either roll the window down or up.. I made an appointment with a VW service center to have them look at it but they said they can't do anything about it .. Is this true ..? The service guy told me that their would be no way to make the motor of the window go any faster or slower.. However I'm back here again due to some clunking/ticking noise every time I roll my pax side window which develop during their first assessment.. So they ordered me a new window regulator which is getting put in now.. The main and initial problem as to why I made an appointment in the first place was for VW service center to fix my pax side window rolling a bit slowly. Now since they are replacing the regulator of my pax side window I asked the service guy whether this would fix the problem of the window rolling slower compare to the driver side and he bluntly said no.. "we cannot make the motor of the window go slower or faster".. Is their any way to fix the rate of the window to go up or down..?
View 6 RepliesI just picked up an 85 6.9L today and took it for a good drive about 60 miles. it ran flawlessly but on the way back it started smoking a lot. I popped the hood and the head on the driver side had puddles of a blueish tent liquid, Ibelieve to be diesel but the color has me confused. Where this could be coming from? also. with the intake disconnected the truck smokes out the intake after being shut off. is this normal?
View 7 RepliesWeird seat heater issue on my 05 TAP/Ecru. Drivers side seat heater tends to fail intermittently after I apply leather care liquid on the seat. Does not happen on the passenger side. In winter, it failed for nearly a week before coming back to life. Yesterday it failed for the evening, then started working again today. Each time right after I applied leather care to the seats. Same amount applied to passenger and driver's seat and the passenger seat is always OK.
What is causing this ? Of course each time I go to the dealer, it is working fine !!!!
Yesterday, I was dropping off a friend, and after a minute or so of being parked, when I started rolling forward again, this very loud, metal on metal screeching sound started coming from under my car, seemingly on the driver's side. I thought there was maybe something under the car, but I looked, and found nothing. When I tried to leave her street the noise got so loud I was scared and stopped again, and her neighbors came out because they heard it. Again, examination of the wheels, undercarriage, under the hood, it all looked normal. Turning the steering wheel didn't make the noise, but bouncing the hood made a slight squeak in the same area. So I parked it, and this morning had it towed to my mechanics. Of course, once it got there, they said it drove fine, they hear no noise, and saw nothing wrong with the brakes, tires, or axles. Basically, they think I'm crazy.It was lightly misting when this happened but not real rain or anything. The mechanic said they don't see any evidence that anything was stuck in there that might've gotten dislodged by the tow. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow, but is there anything I should have them check before that?
View 6 RepliesI have an air leak sound coming from I believe the driver side. Sounds like an air line from a compressor leaking. Could see anything obvious last night or hear well over engine. When driving it's pushing more air. Nothing looked/felt loose. Didn't find any air blowing were I could stick my hand in a hot engine. Doesn't seem to have performance issue, maybe a little more turbo delay.
View 3 RepliesMy truck is running fine but it sounds like there is an air leak on the drivers side of the truck. When it first happened I was passing a car and it sounded like a vacuum hose come loose. It made a loud hissing sound. Now I have come to the conclusion it must be associated with the turbo. I don't hear the hiss unless I get into the truck and the turbo starts making boost. The more boost is made the louder the hissing sound is.
View 4 RepliesI've noticed my oil level dropping very slowly, but more rapidly than normal. It seems to have picked up a bit recently and when I was at a friend's house and parked in his garage, in a half hour I had two nickle-sized oil spots under my car. They are more towards the driver side. The spots had some space in between them, which leads me to believe the oil is coming from up above and it is hitting something on the way down to send it in separate directions.
***In a month's time (2k miles) I was at the min indicator on the dip stick***
i have a strange leak under my driverside, im not sure if its an oil leak or what.
View 6 RepliesI have a vacuum leak on the driver side seal on the changeover rod in the intake manifold. It was replaced recently at the dealer and now has another hole in it. I was told this is caused by oil in the lines and my pcv valve is bad.
View 1 RepliesSo i parked my car in the garage cause it was supposed to snow over night, well pull out this morning and there was a small wet spot, when to inspect it and it was oil, colorless, it came from front driver side, something is leaking, I popped the hood and looked down and i can see oil on plastic, on the bottom of the engine bay, where is this coming from? no light are on, and oil levels are all good? its a 2012 gti with 31k miles on it....

View 3 RepliesSo my brand new 2012 2.5 with 143 miles already has an issue. Having a single pop sound from somewhere near the drivers door, maybe the seat, or door frame? Also I think it mostly happens when accelerating from a stop. Maybe around 3-10 mph. Pretty sure its an interior thing, not drivetrain related.
View 18 RepliesSo as the title says the sunroof in my 2000 Jetta is leaking. I've taken down a, b, and c pillars, and the headliner. Poured water in the drain tray and no noticeable leak.. however when I spray it with the hose, the water overflows over the drain tray at the drain ends and into the car like Niagara falls. I've check all the connections, pinched open the plugs. I've already replaced the sunroof seal, which was noticeably shrunken. The new one fits snug all around but I'm still getting the leak. The water (from what i can tell) over flows the tray, runs down the headliner to the drivers side C pillar and then down into the trunk where the cd changer / safety kit was. I usually park uphill, and the one time I parked down hill and sprayed it with the hose the water was "Niagara falling" into my passenger seat.

U will hear this Ta-ta-ta-tak-tak tak each time I accelerate, for 2k to 3k rpm to hear it better. Sound like an old subway that dive and creak by the high pressure... The sound can be hear on some bumpy bad roads too but it a lot more frequent when I just accelerate.

I just bought a 99 f150. Its in great shape only 65000 on it but there is a hissing swooshing sound when turning the wheel... not really any brake sounds. The truck has been maintained and I dont see any leeks in the ps system hoses. I didn't know anything about the atf fluid in the truck... and I haven't added either ps or atf fluid to it. I'm wondering if that is maybe something the dealer i bought it from did. or maybe one of the shops the previous owner did. Would ps fluid cause these kinds of sounds? Do I need a flush of the system.. How to do that.
View 14 RepliesI recently lowered my 2012 Beetle with HR super sport springs/stock struts.. So this annoying tin rattling sound has come out. I just replaced the strut mounts thinking they separated like they are known to do. Sound Still there. Now my thinking either it is the sway bar end links being too long or possibly I have aftermarket wheels and aluminum hub rings it could be rattling over small bumps? Could it be the strut bearings? I've been over everything that I can think of and nothing is loose.
View 1 RepliesI bought my R from Carmax about a month ago with about 26K miles on it (and, needless to say, I am in love with the car). However, after a week or two of driving, I noticed a squeaking/rattling sound coming from the front driver's side wheel well area when I let off the brake. It is loud enough for me to hear it with the windows rolled up, and it continues for several seconds at least after I let off the brake (maybe longer, but I can't hear it over the exhaust).
The rattle sort of sounds like it may have something to do with the turning of the wheel, so I thought it might be related to caliper vibration or something (not that I really have any clue. At all.). Anyhow, I took my R to Carmax to have them look at it because it is still under the 30 day warranty, and I figured I would start there before taking it to the local VW dealership. I got a call a few minutes ago from the service guy, who said the following:
"Our technician took a look at your car and determined that the sound is coming from your suspension. However, it is a normal sound and there isn't anything that needs to be fixed."
I argued with him and said that the noise may or may not be immediately harmful to my car, but it is certainly not NORMAL, and something needs to be tightened, lubricated, or replaced. He said he would have his tech look at it again.
I originally own an mk4 r32 but my friend owns a 20th.. He recently lowered his car about an inch or 1.5 of an inch he might have a finger gap.. He is on jam coilovers all the way down in the rear and about 20 threads left up front.. There is a nasty sound coming from the front driver side when he is turning or going straight.. he still didn't do an alignment idk if that matters.. and he also miscounted the threads so his driver side is about two threads higher but he fixed that now.. he also doesn't have camber plates up front does this matter? he has 8mm spacers up front so he cant be hitting the coil.. also he never replaced his front strut mounts/bearings ...
