I don't know home many of you have noticed this but recently changed my reverse lights in my jetta to LEDs and now when I shut off the car the light is still on but dimmed.
I have heard this happening to people with their map lights also when replaced with LEDs should inner worried or was that current always there ?? And is there a way to make it go off when car is off example a resistor or something?
I recently purchased my first car/jetta. When i switch the knob to turn on the instrument lights on my 2000 jetta the headlights don't come on. But when i turn the knob off the auto headlights turn on. Any insight on this? when i first got the car everything was working fine. It only started to happen after I replaced the radiator.

View 1 RepliesMy cornering lights (the lights that come on with the turn signal or an actual turn under 22mph) don't work when the fog lights are on. Is there anything I can do outside of using a VCDS cable? It seems stupid since the cornering lights shoot out of the main headlight assembly, not the fogs.

I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!
How to make my FRONT FOG LIGHTS available in Euroswitch CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode...?
It rained like a mofo all day yesterday and i was.... short story short, i did 50mph through a big puddle. Water was dripping on my feet on the pedals, then after sitting for a couple of hours, i start the car and begin to drive off and the EPC light comes on it it puts the car in limp mode. On my way home i decide to turn the car off and back on to see what that does and then the MIL light comes on with the EPC light. when i get home i check with a scanner and it says its Throttle Position Sensor Voltage related. So here is my question, where is the TPS located so i can check to see if some wires came off and or the voltage at each wire?
View 4 RepliesThis is about the third time this has happened to me now--at random times, on startup of the car, I get the TPM light and ESC light on in the dash. It usually takes up to a few minutes for them to disappear, but they have gone away each time. This is my first car with this sort of technology, so I'm not sure if this sort of thing is an expected electrical blip, or if it's something to be concerned about.
At this point I only have about 400 miles on my GTI, and have had it for a little over a month. I'm going back to the dealer later this week to pick up plates, and am thinking of having them check this, as well as a couple other small things.
I just installed my HID kit in my 2010 MK6 and it looks amazing!!! The only thing wrong is my day time running lights are still on and I don't know how to disconnect them? I dont wanna break them just disable them.
View 4 RepliesThe Hawk Pads I installed last year didn't come with wear pad sensors so I ordered the ECS Wear Pad Dummy Loop and finally got around to install them. Now I have and ABS light and the Wear Pad light is still on. Do I just need to reset it with VAG-COM?
View 5 RepliesI'm having problems with my abs. I recently had my front left Barring replaced an when I got the car back the abs light was on. So I asked the guy what the problem was he said it's just a abs speed sensor. So I have been driving it an I hear a quiet scratching sound, definitely metal on metal. So I took my tire off an found a line in the back of my rotor. Perfectly circler an about 1/16 depth. I brought it to my dads buddy's shop with a new abs speed sensor it said mine was fine he cleaned it off and if there's a problem come back. So I've been looking into an I'm wondering if it's the abs control module that I need but why is it only happing on the front left?
View 5 RepliesMy esp/abs lights on my dash are on.The sensors are functioning properly , I've been told that there must be a break In the wiring somewhere. How difficult is this to trace. Is it the harness that goes under the wipers etc? Does the plastic tray under the wipers just pop off?

Since then my fog lights have been full of condensation. Is there a way to sort this out?
I am out of town for the weekend and my car just decided to throw a CEL and EPC light. Immediately felt a loss of power and I thought maybe limp mode. Got to my friends house, turned it off, and now when I turn it back on, it feels like it is miss fireing (I think, I dont know because I dont know what miss firing is supposed to feel like) The car is vibrating at low RPM and it does not sound smooth if you know what I mean but it smooths out if I give it a bit of gass, but not compleatly.
Could this be a bad ECU? (thought maybe since the EPC light was on but I dont know if that means ECU or something else) but the EPC light has not come back on when I restart it, but the CEL does blink continuously. It is Saturday night and I have a 2.5 hour drive tomorrow. Obviously no way to get it looked at it tomorrow, so can I limp it home at 40? The car has not failed to start yet, and I thought a bad EPC would mean the car would not start.Or if I can just drive real slow.
My abs and tcs lights have been on since I bought my jetta. I had to take the wheel off to change my ball joints and noticed the pads the PO had used didn't have the wear sensors. He had just twisted the ends of the old senors together and ziptied them up. Would this cause my abs/tcs lights to come on.
View 4 RepliesDidn't find anything on this, but I've noticed that on my GTI the Fog Lights stay on when the High Beams are turned on. Which I find unusual since no other car I've ever owned did this (Including my '12 TDI), and as far as I understood, in the US (At least here in NY), it was actually illegal to have them both on at the same time. ?
View 12 RepliesJust put new wheels, tires on my car...19's with tires 235/35/19, soon as i put them on and took it out to see any issues, the driver side rear wheel/tire making some horrible squeaking noise that just kept getting worse as i just drove the car around the block..ABS light and traction control both came on and stayed on as well (doesn't sound good, expensive) my H20 is ruined it seems.

View 9 RepliesI have been having a problem with my dash lights intermittently going out. They are out for good now. My interior lights, license plate lights, climate control and glove box lights are out as well. The fog lights work only if my high beams are on.
I have replaced all 5 and 10 fuses. I am wondering if I have a relay out, I don't really know anything about them except their location. I'm putting a friends light switch in tomorrow to see if that's it. I have a euro switch.
I have a 2012 gti with oem bi-xenon head lights. What code or setting do you use on vagcom to bring on the fog lights when I turn on highbeam?
View 3 RepliesMy 2008 R32 interior lights do not come on when I open the drivers side door, works OK from passenger door. I can not find the door switch. I've searched all around the door and the door frame. No luck. Also the doors will not lock, and using the key to roll up or down the windows or sunroof don't work.
View 3 RepliesJust having a bit of an issue here, my fuse box cables are getting pretty hot and I don't know why. I replaced the fuse box itself and replaced the cable that goes from the alternator to the fuse box and its still getting hot. It only gets hot after I drive the car. Not sure if it's normal.
Before changing the fuse box and cable, the car's lights would flicker and my car would stall out here and there, also at times when I powered off the car the radio will turn off and turn right back and the clock will reset to 12:00. So I did some research and someone told me to change the fuse box and the cable that goes to the alternator. Did that and it fixed the issue, but the cables are still getting hot....
