Golf/GTI VI :: How To Measure Wheels Space For BBK
Sep 3, 2011
I have to determine whether the BBK can fit my car right.
How to measure and determine whether what wheels size can fit a 6pot Brembo BBK, let say on 19"x8.5" offset 48.

Just wondering... should there be any plastic pieces inside the wheel wells directly in front of the rear wheels? There is empty space on mine where it looks like leaves and whatnot could collect. I can get a picture if needed. I expected there to be a plastic cover of some sort. Then again, maybe it is on purpose so if stuff collects in there you will see it and clean it out.
View 8 Replies2103 GS 350 F-SPORT ... I've only had my car for a month but I just noticed there is a small space between my rear wheels and the rotor hat. My front is not like this. I don't have an opportunity to take the wheels off and look.
View 14 RepliesHow to measure the down pin size? I need to grab some spacers for mocking up the head to be sure the inserts are lining up. Was going to go to Lowes or HD to fine some sleeves before the ones from Toyota came in.
View 1 RepliesFor the first time in 3 months, I received the TPM fault message. I used my VW Digital Tire gauge and 3 tires were 30psi and one 33.5 psi. I added air to all of them. When I went to retest the pressure, I used the VW digital gauge and then an old stick gauge that I had. There was a difference of 4psi. The digital gauge read 34, the stick read 38. I then went to the local gas station and they tested it with their equipment. Theirs read 40psi.
What do you use to do an accurate measure of the pressure? I don't know what to believe. Is there a reading in the MFI? (The MFI showed me 0.0 on all 4 tires, cold and warm when the fault appeared, the symbol with the slash thru it. That's gone now since I drove awhile).
I just changed my oil yesterday, and I tried to check the oil level via dipstick method, but oil was all over one side of the dipstick, which in turn looks like I completely overfilled -- I checked how much oil I took out, which was 4 quarts, and I filled it up 3.5 quarts so far. I'm sure the car is still a bit under, and I'd rather overfill than underfill, but how am I supposed to get the "right" amount with such a faulty dipstick?
View 12 RepliesOur V6 Touareg stalled while reversing out of a parking space last night. We have about 21,000 miles on it, and never had this problem before. I was able to fire up the engine again without any problem... by the way, can you tell if the battery is good or not from the battery meter in the instrument cluster?
View 10 RepliesI have recently purchased Prius 2012 JDM. It s L edition (Base edition). I want to install fog lights and drl. But couldn't find any space.
View 6 RepliesI'm considering ordering an IS350 F-Sport RWD in the next few months and I compare everything to my wife's 2013 BMW 335i Xdrive. I guess this is a legitimate comparison since both are in the same category. However whenever I look at the interior pictures one thing pops up : the size of the NAV screen. Why on earth did they leave around 1 inch of unused space to the left and right of the screen? It annoys me because everything in the interior looks more upscale than the 335, but this thing looks so cheap.
View 14 RepliesMy new 2008 2.0T Passat wagon, Lux version has a 20" L x 5" W x 1.5" D space on the inside of the rear hatch behind the license plate with two knobs that you turn to open it. The covering door is hinged and it looks like it might be a space to put something because there are four plastic clips that might be there to retain something. Cannot find any reference to it in the owners manual.
View 4 RepliesPurchased our 2011 Prius new this past August. We currently have 28k miles on it.
After driving it for one week, one morning we started it and it sounded like the space shuttle was taking off.....it rattled and bang, clanged and shook for about 2-3 seconds. Then all was fine.
About every three weeks or so it would do it again, and again. Upon our next service we told the dealer. He said they were having trouble with a motor mount....so they they replaced it. Couple weeks later same thing.....several weeks after that....again.
I'm interested in installing a staggered set of wheels on the R. The size I'm looking are 18x8.5 and 18x9.5. My question is what wheel sizes should I run to keep everything within spec of my Haldex unit? Ive read about staggered units having to be within 3 or 4% so nothing breaks down prematurely.
View 24 RepliesCan I use my original TPMS in my new wheels? I currently have 17' denvers and will be buying 18' wheels can I transfer my TPMS to my new wheels? Do I need to buy something?
View 8 RepliesJust got a set of staggered wheels (first set) they are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. Just wondering if you actually rotate the wheels or how you go about doing that?
View 13 RepliesI think the door when closed leaves too much space for dirt and mud to accumulate. Especially combined with the fact that the car has no mud guards. Usually wont complain about something like this but this happens just a day or 2 after detailing the car.
View 14 RepliesThe spot in front of the steering wheel is just a bare patch of dashboard. Why not put it to use? I can put my GPS or my phone there any time, attached with magnets.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2011 Prius, purchased new last August. It currently has 28000 miles on it.
Since new though, about once or twice a month, when you start it....it sounds like the space shuttle launching. It also shakes and rattles....for about 2-3 seconds.
Upon it's regular service, I complained of the noise. Toyota said that they were having problems with a motor mount.....so they replaced it. Of course a couple weeks later, it does it again...and again...and again.
I have a Toyota Aygo which leaks water into the passenger side foot space, so that when it rains, about 2 inches of water collects where the passengers feet would be.
It's been in to the dealer three times to fix, they replace the door seals but it seems to me that the rain isn't coming in via the door or window, but up through the floor somehow, ie seems to come up through the carpet suggesting it's coming in from somewhere else!
I replaced the rear brakes on my 2003 Jetta 2.0. Reman. Calipers, new pads and rotors.
I bleed the rear right and then the rear left. Have full pressure in the pedal but the disc in grinding at low speeds and when I apply the brakes the rear wheels almost lock up.
Can I put 20" staggered wheels on my 08 r32?
View 24 RepliesI got my R32 back 2 days ago after deploying to Iraq for a year. Upon driving it for the first time I took it a little easy on the car. I made sure the clutch was fully out before I did anything silly and what not.
Today I took it to the track and on the first launch I dropped it from like 3500 rpm and the RPMs shot up to 7500 and the car was moving at like 5 mph. I hit second gear and the rpm almost instantly shot up to 7500 rpm's again with the car moving at like 10 or 15 miles an hour.
After that, i let off completely. I tried one more time out in the warm up area to see what the hell was going on. Did the same thing. I could smell what I'm guessing was clutch burning pretty freaking bad. I'm, not 100% sure it was the clutch because I've never smelt a clutch smell that strong before.
