Golf/GTI VI :: How Sensitive Is A/C To Quick Recycling
Aug 19, 2010
I think this concern of mine stems from past trauma related to broken A/C's (in cars and homes) with expensive repairs, but did I shorten the life of my GTI's A/C by stalling the car shortly after start up, and then restarting it again (with the A/C on)? The A/C got cycled on, then off, then on again within a 10-20 second time span.

My year-old Camry hybrid stalled out last night. It was the second time this has happened. The first time, about a month ago, I made a quick start from a light, followed by a quick stop, both actions to avoid an accident. (I was about to get rear-ended and scooted into the intersection to give the guy closing in my mirror more room.) After the stop, the car had no power but it started up, no problem. Last night, I was about a minute into my trip, stopped at a light, and the power just died. Again, it started no problem.
This time I noticed that the radio went out. Not sure about the headlights. The emergency blinkers came on at the touch of the button before I restarted. In both cases, I stepped on the accelerator and got no power. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't replicate the problem, of course, and whatever interrogation they did of the systems found no faults. They had to be convinced that I knew the difference between an actual stall and just going from gas to electric. It's kind of disconcerting to just stall out in the middle of the street. And I'm concerned that this is a problem that could get worse -- probably just after the warranty lapses.

I have the manual climate controls. Every time I start the car, the recycling air comes on. The problem is, it doesn't get off. I have to turn it off manually. Is this normal? 2015 SE....

How sensitive is the sensor? I was on the highway going at about 75, when the wipers did two quick sweeps. Can insects set off the sensor? What's the best site for discount OEM parts and accessories?

Going to clean egr and throttle on my golf mk6 tdi. Can I just unscrew the three screws that holds the egr on the manifold, or if I need to dismantle more parts?

Seems like the engine and transmission are talking through Google Translate. The usual problems: too quick upshifts, too slow downshifts, lugging and vibration at RPM too low for road speed around town, hesitation. Aware this all supposedly support mileage but it's putting a rough edge on an otherwise quiet and likeable car. In fact, mileage seems to be suffering a bit. Aware there's a TSB on the 6AT that supposedly cures this via a software update .

So, I've noticed over the past few days my '11 GTI w/ DSG isn't turning over as quick but when it does I feel as though my gas is delayed. For instance, if I push the accelerator down I feel like It does nothing and then suddenly kicks in when the pedal is more than halfway pressed. Also noticed by the same token if I keep it floored I go way into the redline before it shifts. Almost pushing the 7k rpm line. I'm thinking it's either my starter is going bad for the turn over portion but then I feel like it's something to do with spark plugs for the delayed response.

When my car is cold... sitting 8 hours below freezing I've noticed until the car warms up I hear almost like a quick scraping sound when I take off from a stop or when shifting. It's almost like when the engine is put under load the movement causes something to shift and makes this noise. Any chance I have a loose mount or a portion of the exhaust could be shifting coming in contact with something?

So I just got 42dd shifter bushings and im having some issues!
Installation was no problem but once you complete the install you are supposed to re-adjust the linkage. First you have to lock the shifter in place, both in the cabin and in the engine bay (as shown in this Diesel Geek video: [URL] .... )
The only trouble I'm having is that i cannot locate the locking pin as shown in this integrated engineering picture: [URL] .....

I just picked up my R32 2 days ago and I notice that when it shifts up semi-aggressive (around 4.5 rpm) there is a quick swish sound as the gear engages. It sounds like it is coming from the muffler system, in the rear. What it is?

Just installed FK Streetlines..... So everything is very tight in the back, before putting weight on the suspension I went over all the bolts and everything is tight. But I occasionally get a single or quick double pop sound from the right rear area, I can almost feel it in my seat/floor. But it's not frequent and not on smooth or rough roads really I can't find a pattern. Usually turning left and a little side to side undulation... Maybe. I've checked over everything. Car has 500mi. Suspension has 50mi maybe..

I've noticed that my brakes are very sensitive lately. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the differential oil that got on the rear pads when the rear seals blew out about 3 months ago. The shop cleaned them off but they still looked oily to me. I'm also wondering if it is parking brake related as one or both of the bellcranks are frozen (there's no cable sag, but one of the stops has a gap and the parking brake doesn't work). Or is it brake fluid related. I am years past the point of needing to replace the brake fluid and bleeding out the old fluid.

I've noticed over the last year or so that when I put my car in reverse to back out of a parking space, occasionally, the break pedal will not fully depress - probably goes about halfway down - and the braking becomes very sensitive. I cannot smoothly back out because the brakes keep catching. Once I've switched back to forward drive, the problem is resolved. Is this normal, something I'm doing wrong, or does it indicate a braking problem that needs to be fixed?

I have a 2007 Ford Focus and 'bout a month ago, the brakes lost compression when applied. The mechanic replaced the master cylinder and we thought everything was ok. After driving it around we noticed the brakes are less sensitive then before. Prior to this, lightly taping/pressing the brakes would slow the car. Now you must press more firmly and with a bigger stopping distance. Additionally, if you press very hard or very suddenly, it feels like the roughness of the road is transmitted to the foot. It's a bit choppy too and the car won't stop for several seconds. After 2-3 seconds it does stop. This happened three times in two weeks. It's never occurred before. When this happens to my husband, he pumps the brakes to correct it, and when this happens to me, I keep pressing down 'till it works. Could the anti-lock brakes be acting up? We brought it to the mechanic and so far he hasn't found a problem.

I have a 2015 limited Passat and the auto light sensor is very sensitive. It turns on the headlights as soon as you hit a shaded part on the road. This happens in pure daylight and also is there a way to adjust how long the headlights stay on after the light sensor turns them on? Example if you drive into a shaded road and then hit sunlight the lights stay on for a long time until your DRL's turn on.
I have a VagCom and have been messing around but I can't find a way to adjust these settings.

I have 2001 X V10 4WD. It has a really touchy steering to it. you barely move the wheel and you are moving. I have had a Les Schwab tires check out the suspension and alignment and everything checks out fine. I was towing our 31 foot trailer with a equalizer hitch and I was fighting it the entire way. Is there anything can do to improve the steering?

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry LE. It's alarm is super sensitive. When the car is parked and locked, if a large truck (semi's, diesels, etc.) or motorcycles go by my car honks 4 times rapidly in a row. It is obnoxious at night when trying to sleep as you can imagine.

Am a recent owner of an '06 Prius and like the car so far. The only fault is something I have never run into before. The brakes are very sensitive when coming to a stop. I find it almost impossible to feather the pedal and make the stop comfortable.

Brake pedal being very sensitive at low speeds (neighborhood speeds about 25 mph or lower). At higher speeds its not as sensitive but IMHO it is quite a bit touchy. So this issue started a few months ago, after the crankshaft key fell out and the timing belt/chain slipped. The engine needed to be torn apart to replace a few items internally.
After that I was visiting my parents, and I wanted to give the car a test drive to make sure that all seemed to be ok. I was pulling out of the driveway and I went to stop so that I could put the car into "D", I barely pushed down on the pedal and it went down pretty fast and the car stop suddenly, I thought it was a fluke. This took place a few months ago after they freshly gotten the vehicle back.
Fast forward to last night, my parents were up visiting and I went and took their Passat to the gas station to fill it up for them. And the pedal was still pretty darn sensitive. I'm not too savvy with this kind of trouble shooting.

I bought my 2007 Prius in July 2010 with 70k on it. To date it has 78k.
During the summer months I was in Colorado and achieving anywhere between 400-450 miles to the tank.
In August I returned to the Mid-West, running well and achieving the same mileage, but as winter has come along, it is now getting about 300-350 miles to the tank, but has gotten as low as 240.
The brakes have seemed to become more sensitive, and the car seems to rattle more when I come to a stop.
Are these just symptoms, especially LOWER MILES PER TANK caused by the cold Mid-West winter?????

I have a 2012 Tig SEL with 18" wheels with factory 235-50-18 tires and stock suspension. The car rides pretty smooth for the most part, but I also find that it's sensitive to lots of small bumps and the suspension is not as smooth as friends other small SUV's. What do you all think about how the Tig rides overall?
