Golf/GTI VI :: HID Light Throw Narrow Shadow Angled To Right And One To The Left
Oct 9, 2010
When my xenon lights are on they throw a shadow out to about 20 feet in front of the car. This is on a golf 2010 TDI.. It is a narrow shadow angled to the right and one to the left.
Is there something wrong with my Lights or do I need to change setting somehow? They are plenty bright but it is odd the lighting in front has this marking in it. BTW the fogs are not on nor does putting them on change this.. Noticed this on low beams and perhaps on high as well..

So after installing the short throw shifter I ran into an issue. My reverse is actually first gear, i do not have second gear, 3-6 work fine so far and i do not have a reverse. also my shifter doesn't seem to move far enough to the left.
We took the short shifter out and put the factory one back in and it still doesn't work. Is it possible for me not to have to take it to VW? i feel like they're going to tell me I need to replace I don't need and how to fix it.
Also, I drive a 2013 jetta GLI but its the same set up for a mk6 GTI....

I have a '10 manual trans gti. Only 16k miles on it. When starting cold and on an incline/decline at a certain level of clutch play, the transmission emits an odd chirping/whirring noise. Aside from the noise, the transmission is butter.
I brought in into the shop to get inspected and was able to replicate the noise for the technician. His thought was a bad throwout bearing.
Here's where it gets interesting. They quoted me about $600 labor just to confirm the issue. Should it be the throwout bearing, the replacement would be covered under warranty. labor would also be included. However, if they found it to be a wear product it would obviously be on me and stupid expensive.
Some people also thought maybe the clutch plate fingers are slipping? (I don't know that much about cars..)

so lately I've been noticing a slight rattling/knocking noise coming from my car while it is in neutral and the clutch is not pushed it. When I push the clutch in, the noise goes away. I've read that this could be a sign of a bad throw out bearing? Is this right? If it is the throw out bearing, how long can I expect until it completely craps out on me? It seems to only do it on cold starts and sometimes on the uneven ground. I figured I should start saving some money to have this done because I'm not comfortable doing it myself.
Some other questions I had is my car is a 24v VR6 and it has 144k original miles. The timing chains and guides have not been replaced (to my knowledge at least). I know that replacing the throwout bearing requires removal of the transmission and so does doing the lower timing chain. If I get my throw out bearing replaced, should I have them do the chains also since they are already in there? I have no noise coming from my chains at all so there are no signs that they are going bad. Also, should I have my clutch replaced while they are in there? Again, no signs of a bad clutch either.

For months I've been hearing the sound of rushing air coming from the direction of the front passenger side door. I've been trying to ignore it, but it's been getting worse. Today I noticed what appears to be a narrow gap between the rubber stripping and the front windshield near the wiper blade tip. Could that be where air is leaking in?

I have a clicking binding noise while at idle, with the clutch out it goes away, when depressed its there. So, is this a bad throw out bearing? Clutches and flywheels?

2010 GTI. Just got back from a business trip, hasn't been started for a week. Turn key, just clicks at me. Dash flashes and threw up half a dozen error messages from ESP to ABS to AFS/headlight. Battery seems fine. I, unfortunately, do not have a windows laptop handy currently so cannot hook up vag-com. Does this sound like a starter? ECU? I do have APR stage I and I was NOT able to access via the cruise control set function which has me worried that somehow it has engaged lock out mode? At this point, I appear to be headed for flatbed, dealer and major wallet damage.

My 2013 Prius v headlights are angled low. I went to the dealer who did check them but said there is nothing they can do. I find them dangerous and am constantly needing to switch from low to high beams.

I have a 2010 prius IV. When driving on low beam, a dark shadow is cast in the road that is very distracting. I checked many of the other post and either my problem is unique or this just doesn't bother anyone else. Will be able to adjust the head lights to correct it?

I bought an '08 Elantra in October and I notice whenever I am driving on surface streets at night people are constantly flashing their lights at me as if I have my brights on. I don't. At first I thought it might be a coincidence and maybe they were trying to warn me about cops or something, but it happens way too often. On a 10-15 minute drive I get flashed 4-6 times on average.
I've started paying more attention to my headlights since I've realize they might have an issue and at first I thought they might just be too bright, but I do notice that I can see into the back of peoples' cars much more clearly than I can when I'm in other peoples' cars.
As far as I know they're stock headlights. Were they too bright or did they just need to have their angle adjusted? How hard is it to do that and is it expensive?

I bought a 1991 Dodge Shadow from a private owner and he told me it needed a trans mount but upon inspection the mount seems to be fine the car will shudder upon first acceleration and a louder shudder shifting from 1st to 2nd. So I was leaning more towards a cv axle rather than the transmission mount still not sure. Only have this problem under a load 60-65 mph seems to drive fine and no viberations!!!!

I just ran into an issue with my 08 Sonata. Tonight while I was en-route to a emergency call, I came very close to hitting a dear. The low beams are angled almost to the ground and I don't know how to angle them up. I have to have my fog lights lit to see the road signs when my high beams are not on. Also need to know how to angle those as well.

the headlights stopped working on my 94 shadow. I replaced the headlight switch (on the dash, not the multi switch on the steering column) and they worked again... until I was about 15 minutes into a 30 minute drive @ 2 AM. The lights went out (headlights, dash lights, everything) and came right back on. They flickered several more times and after I move the switched, stay on for the remainder of the drive. i figured there was just a bad spot in the switch (it seemed dependent on the dimmer position at first). It turns out that it seems to do this at the same point in the drive every night independent of the switch position, speed, engine revs, bumps. the only thing that seems to make a difference is the time before flickering is shorter when I use my brights. I should also point out that my speedo has always stopped working @ about the same time frame if I have the headlights & vent fan both on....

Noticed a digital "shadow" to the electronic speedometer display? Below is a picture of what I'm seeing. It's not a viewpoint or reflection that goes away from a different angle. It's like there is an alignment issue or something.. I know the display image is a projection from below, to create a distant focal point. But I see this image shadow.
The one in my 07 Prius doesn't do this. Click on the pic below...

I bought a 2015 ES350 in August and have a couple of weird noises.
First is what sounds like either door rubber seal on body rubber seal or window on rubber seal noise over certain types of bumps. Is this common? I can live with this until I bring it in for its first service, but it might be a simple fix I can do.
The second is more of a concern. When I'm moving slowly over an angled surface like a driveway that might cause some "twist" of the car, there can be a loud pop sound. Since it does not happen very often, it is very difficult to locate, and I'm sure its one of those things the dealer service department will never hear. When it happened over the weekend, it almost sounded like it was coming from the roof. This morning, it sounded like it might have come from the rear driver side door, but it is hard to tell.

I just installed the lights and found that only the outside left light worked with the brake depressed, the outside left inside left and inside right worked with the light switch in the on position. Also both blinkers work.
I switched my byte 18 to 04 already and am not (as of now) using my euro light switch (I didn't think this would be it but I'm at a complete loss) ...

I realized my horn is not working. I also realized that the left side turn indicator (blinker) light is not working and when I popped it out I saw the wires were chewed up, I am not sure what happened. Do you think I need to remove the wheel well liner to try to access that area? What to do?

I am having a problem with my 2007 R32 manual, over the last few weeks its developed a whining noise in what seems to sound from the rear left side, more so when driving around a left hand corner (weight is off the noisy side),or when i let my foot off the gas and let the car run,ive jacked it up and when I grab the back left drive shaft and shake it, I found there's a bit of play on the side going into the diff, there's 70000 miles on it and no problems to date, looking for some info on what problem could be?
