Golf/GTI VI :: Fog Lights Condensation
Mar 29, 2016
I went through a flood three weeks ago.
Since then my fog lights have been full of condensation. Is there a way to sort this out?

So I've been using the rear window spray a lot since it's been snowing and the salty water/snow/air has covered the rear window a lot and I've been notice water dripping into the rear when I open the hatch but previously thought it was just some snow that melted in/around the hatch area and was dripping. Today I noticed both tail lights that are on the hatch have condensation in them. When I popped the plastic covering on the hatch that you use to replace the bulbs, I noticed there was the blue spray fluid. So I removed the two tail light and I can't seem to figure out how to get the bit of water out of the white and red parts. Do the lens come off any way? I now realize the leaky rear spray thing is a common issue and just ordered the two stupid 50 cent pieces that costs 31 with shipping from ECS
View 2 RepliesI have water in my Jetta's tail lights and its really annoying. I just had them both out on the weekend and checked out the foam gaskets and they were both fine but i replaced them with an older pair I had that looked in even better shape but basically the same condition...
Rained pretty hard last night and now there is like more water in them then before... I made sure I tightened them down good because they were not that tight when I originally took them off.
There is water condensation in my spare tire well and making my carpet wet and starting to fog up my rear windows..
What is the cause, and when I bring my Touareg in for it's 15000 mile service...what should I expect them to do to rectify the problem?
View 11 RepliesAt 4800 miles I noticed condensation, moisture, or water in my tail lights assembly , I took it in for my first check up, provided pictures, the engineers at lexus said this was normal. I said mosture causes corrosion, may cause a short becauce water is a conductive element, and when it dries it will leave contaminates on the inside of the lights, they said all cars have this issue. I explained the my last 8 cars did not have this issue and I have put aftermarket headlights and tail lights on 2 my cars and they did not have this issue. Well the coversation didn't go well, I said if its so common how come its not in the manual, or a disclaimer on the car, what if I told buyers on your lot this was a common issue. I closed with letting them know it was time to let this be known. I also said just like the headlight issue's they will have to do something. The next day they called me and said they would change out the lights this one time. I am sure this not the last time this issue will be seen, the engineering at lexus is just too proud and hate to admit when they have a bad designed until law suits or deaths happen.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2000 grand prix. The headlight s & tailights are constantly full of condensation. How can I remove the condensation & prevent it from reoccurring? I already replaced one of the tailights & same problem. My moms equinox has same issue. I've heard using hair dryer to dry lights out. Is that safe?
View 3 RepliesWhat would be causing this? Might it be something wrong on when the front end was installed after my IC swap?
View 17 RepliesI bought my CW r32 yesterday(#2746) . When got home I noticed that I had a little condensation in both hid headlights. Is this normal or should I be worrying? Also, I don't no how to use my iPod when put in the arm rest dock. My dealer said to "put it in cd mode then plug in your ipod, then it should play". This didn't work for me. I also found a inch1/2 scratch on my left headlight.
View 9 RepliesI took my car into the dealer and got the mech unit replaced. I drove it home in the rain and when I parked it I noticed bad condensation in the driver side tail light.I have never noticed this before and do not no if it was there when I bought it. Anyways, I did some research about the issue and I found that it is a common problem. I have read that it is normal because it is vented and others say take it to the dealer and get it fixed?
View 23 RepliesI noticed it a few days ago. little droplets all along the bottom edge of the third brake light. wanted to see if it was common or normal before i start dealing with the dealership. and...as always...
View 11 RepliesI just notice some condensation in one of my tailights.
There's been some snow and ice lately and I'm wondering if that's what caused it.
Is there anyway I can get rid of it? Is it from the water getting through the gaskets/seals?
As stated in the title I'm having condensation on the inside of the windshield, but I only notice it when I get off work and go out to start my car (I work second shift and get off at 11:30pm) but when i go out in the morning or afternoon I don't notice any. I pretty much roll everywhere with my windows up so I'm not getting rain in it other than when i open the doors to get in and out.
View 6 RepliesI get it every now and then in the mornings. Now I know I can just turn on my headlights and it goes away. But it's a brand new car.
I have xenons. Just wanted to see of this is common or not. Dealers solution was just that. Turn headlights on.
My Golf R has had this issue (I didn't see much from searching). I have a significant amount of condensation in my third brake light so I called the service department at my local VW dealer and basically was told that this is normal and they won't replace under warranty. They claim the light is vented which allows for moisture to build up. This seems like a bit of a design flaw though and would eventually cause some or all of the LEDs to burn out in the light.
View 5 RepliesMy brand new gti with the lp is forming condensation inside the headlights on cold mornings! I have seen a few threads about this, but I'm planning to get a hold of vw because I hate the dealerships and they all basically suck once you've bought the car.
View 2 RepliesI have noticed that I have been getting some drip spots under my car whenever I am parked. This has only started happening in the summer. I got under there and dabbed my finger in the discharge and found it to be odorless, clear, and not viscous. Basically, I think it is just water. Could this just be condensation from the A/C system? It has been dripping under the passenger side right under the firewall.
View 13 RepliesI just got some condensation in my driver side tail light.... It just rained heavily and then I washed it BC I just got the opti coat done.... Wanted to see the opi work!!!! Anyways now I have this condensation....I have the dark cherry red non led.... I have the JL stealthbox installed... Never happened before had the car about a year now?
View 12 RepliesMy Gti has been sitting in my driveway unused for a couple months now. The condensation in it has been unusually heavy when parked. The carpet is dry, doesn't smell damp inside, no coolant smell. Windshield was replaced 2year ago never had a prob with it so idk if it's that that's leaking, but what would the signs of that be? But what I really think it could be is that my recirculating flap is stuck closed. Could that be it?
View 9 RepliesI installed the non-resonated exhaust, but I noticed that some air/water condensation is coming out of the small pipe that join the cat and non resonated part of the exhaust.
I double checked the position of the small part and is very deep inside the other tubes, plus I checked the clamps too.
I recently purchased my first car/jetta. When i switch the knob to turn on the instrument lights on my 2000 jetta the headlights don't come on. But when i turn the knob off the auto headlights turn on. Any insight on this? when i first got the car everything was working fine. It only started to happen after I replaced the radiator.
View 6 RepliesIf you can vag the ability to leave the floor lights on when driving with lights on - aka the Touareg?
