Just did the trans mount in my car hooked it all back up and "esc faulty traction control" came on in the dash MFI display, esc & steering wheel(airbag?) light in the dash. I scanned it no codes. Is it something that goes off on its own or do I have to disconnect the batt again and some sort of cycle procedure?
View 1 RepliesMy uncle (school district mechanic) and I recently replaced the front brake pads and front rotors on my 2003 Dodge Stratus. Within the last couple weeks, the dash lights for my ABS and Traction Control have remained on while I'm driving. I have also noticed a grinding noise on the front, driver side wheel, similar to what I'd hear when I applied my brakes on an icy section of road. I am concerned that my brakes may fail. My uncle and I have not been able to figure out what the problem might be.
View 4 RepliesRan obd I I tool on my fiance's 2011 Camry. Threw codes C0365, C1330, and C1445. cleared the codes and the only one that is recurring is the C1330. ABS and traction control lights are illuminated on the dash.
View 1 RepliesAfter I had the transaxle replaced in my 2008 I was driving on the interstate and the traction control light started blinking and a beeping came out of the dash area. A fast beep-beep-beep-beep-beep... for about a minute then stopped. I took it back to the dealer and they said it didn't throw any code plus "that shouldn't have anything to do with the transaxle".
Everything was fine until a few days ago it rained and it did it again three times, only at highway speeds, stopping after I got under 37 mph. Is something getting wet that shouldn't be? It doesn't slow the car down or anything like a real slipping situation would.
Every time I start my Golf there is a beep, the EPC light and ABS light come on and stay on, and the brake warning light starts flashing and continues to flash.
I have had the fault codes read and it came up with the following:
0414 Control unit improperly coded Faulty
0606 Yaw rate sensor Circuit defective.
What these faults actually mean and what might cause them? I'm quite keen to resolve the issue as anything brakes related makes me nervous, plus I do drive the car hard and use the 4Motion system, which I believe utilises the ABS system?
Probably worth mentioning that the car is fitted with a Series 1 Blue Haldex controller, in case that makes any difference?
Just put new wheels, tires on my car...19's with tires 235/35/19, soon as i put them on and took it out to see any issues, the driver side rear wheel/tire making some horrible squeaking noise that just kept getting worse as i just drove the car around the block..ABS light and traction control both came on and stayed on as well (doesn't sound good, expensive) my H20 is ruined it seems.

View 16 RepliesMy traction control light came on today, and it's just...on. I am not sure what that could be. I checked to make sure the maf was on snug, Other than that I'm at a loss. Scanned it and found no codes relating. Just the dumb convenience center module.
View 19 RepliesFrom what I've read it seems this combo of lights usually stops the awd from working. However the lights came on and as a test I did a few hard 1-3 pulls listening for wheel spin... Nothing, all traction and pull.
What may be causing these lights? Hopefully I can get my vag com to work so I can scan it. Planning on checking the fuses and connections on the battery too.
I am currently researching a new car to get. It will most definitely be a hot hatch of some kind. But there is one problem, the traction control and ESC cannot be disabled on the Mk6 and Mk7 GTi's. This is a huge problem for me because I plan on spending between $20k-$30k and that's a decent chunk of change so I better be having $20k-$30k amounts of fun. It's been well established in other threads that there is no way to disable the ESC without a flash or voiding the warranty (or usually both). I just want to be able to occasionally compete in autocross or handbrake turn around a corner or drift through the snow. Or even more occasionally, I like to put serving trays under the back wheels and lock the handbrake and do a little parking lot drifting. Those things are what makes FWD cars so great, and if I can't do that then I should just get a AWD car or even better a RWD car. I don't want to spend more on a new car to be able to less with it.Most of the contenders allow me to do this. FoST, FiST, Mazdaspeed 3, even the Mini Cooper S will all allow me to do this if I want to but the GTi won't as far as I know. So my question is, Will the ESC kick in and ruin my perfectly executed handbrake turn? Will the car even move if I've locked the rear wheels on serving trays? Will it automatically brake when I try to kick out the back around a snowy bend?This stuff may sound pretty trivial to be deal breakers but I really like VW's and want to get one really bad, but I am not so sure about it when they are so crippled by the nannies and may be forced to look elsewhere. Does ESC/traction control ruin a good time?
View 3 RepliesI put in a new air filter today, 2003 GTI vr6 24v, and three lights (Check Engine Light, Electronic Control Power, and ABS) all turned on and haven't turned off yet, I'm not sure if I plugged in the sensor wrong or if there is something else that needs to be done. None of the lights were on before.

I am having my traction and abs light come on and off occasionally and I think it's due to the sensor up front? I read that often times when suspension is installed, the sensor gets damaged and causes this issue, is this correct? Can I mend the current sensor or does it have to be replaced? what part is the actual piece that needs replaced?

My abs/traction lights come on together whenever it snows, and i lose both abs and traction control. But in the warm weather it is fine. it ocassionally happens when it rains (but a lot less often)
2012 Golf R ; only mod is APR software with launch control and no lift shift. When i shift hard into second power is cut like traction control is being activated. To be clear the instrument cluster indicates ASR is off. I have two codes that pop up in VCDS (no check engine light) these codes have popped up at least twice now. They are below.
005634 - Power Supply Terminal 30
P1602 - 002 - Voltage too Low - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:

So my car sometimes runs good and many times it hesitates while driving at any condition and few seconds after the traction control light comes on saying its off. What it is. I got a test pipe so the only code I got is the 2 rear O2 sensors r tripping.
And after the traction control light comes on it runs like crap. Idles funny and very low and hesitates more. Than after like 2 days go by it comes back to norm and runs perfect and smooth.
I noticed loose cam sensor so I fixed that, I fixed the coolant sensor and checked the awd controller connector and it perfect (no corrosion or anything unnormal). What thing can cause the traction control to turn off by itself.
I was having a little fun with the first snow of the year, and now my traction control light won't go off... I was thinking it was the ABS... shed some light [IMG] [URL] ... got back into the car and now it works correctly ...
View 1 RepliesI was pulling out of school the other day and my abs light came on and so did the traction control light, noting was going on at all. I was driving in a straight line. Everything works perfect i have no issues just lights, about 2 months ago. I did coilovers rotors and pad all the way around and a new abs sensor on the drivers side because i smashed it when installing the coilovers. I need to get it fixed because I cant pass inspection with the lights on and I am curious to find out if something is actually wrong with it. My uncle drove it and said it makes a noise when you turn and he thinks possibly the cv joint is bad on the axles? He said because of the excess strain from the drop.
View 19 RepliesI went outside and started my car yesterday morning and it was 20-25 degrees out and the car had a hard time turning over. Upon starting the dash computer read: Fault: Traction Control. Its a 14 GTI with about 1600 miles on it, could it have been not getting all 12 volts upon start up?
View 4 RepliesI need to troubleshoot a problem with the ABS & Traction control lights on a 2006 Mountaineer Premium with 126,000 miles. During the year that I have owned the vehicle this problem has occurred every time it is driven on a long trip. The previous owner never drove on longer trips so has no experience with this problem.
When you drive the vehicle around town and on shorter trips (less than an hour) there are no indications of problems. The ABS and Traction control lights come on as part of the start-up check cycle and go off. The ABS and Traction control work in low traction conditions and the lights function correctly when either one is activated.
The unusual behavior occurs on trips longer than an hour. Typically after about 1 1/2 hours at highway speed both the ABS and Traction control lights come on as well as the Wrench symbol in the message panel. It you hit "Reset" the Wrench symbol goes away but the ABS and Traction control lights stay on. The brakes work normally. I do not know if the ABS and Traction Control will work. I have never been in a low traction condition when the lights are on.
Both lights stay on until you stop the vehicle and turn off the ignition. When you restart the vehicle the ABS light is on but not the Traction Control light. When you start to drive the vehicle the ABS light goes out immediately.
After about 1/2 hour of driving both lights come on and the Wrench symbol displays in the message panel. Whenever you stop the vehicle and restart during the trip the cycle repeats. The day after you finish the long trip everything is normal for driving around town and on short trips.
Is there any way to completely disable traction and stability control. I know pushing the button is supposed to disable stability control but I was told that you can't actually completely disable it.
