I took a road trip a week ago and on the way home ran into some steady but not heavy rain. I thought I noticed water leaking in the driver's door out of the corner of my eye and when I swiped the top of the door with my hand sure enough, it was wet. The passenger door leaked a little onto the seat, too.
View 24 RepliesSo I got my VR6 Turbo Mk2 driving bout 3 weeks ago and parked the R. Its been raining pretty good the last few days and the Mk2 has proven to be more than a handful in my short drives in the wet so I took the R today...Turns out the drivers door seal is leaking on me when I am driving. I figure its probably tied to the wind noise problem, but Ive not seen it before given it rarely rains in Az and I don't think its rained since I got the car.
View 8 RepliesI do believe my a/c drain is plugged and wetting my passenger side carpet with water. I pulled my floor mat the other day to vacuum and noticed the carpet was wet underneath the weather tech floor mat. No water on top of the mat. It must be leaking down inside of firewall and under the mat.
My guess is I need to find the drain hose and un-plug it with weed cutter line or re-route the tube. I leave for a work trip tomorrow and don't have time to take it to the stealer. I have to run A/C the whole time so I know it will get wet again. I have today and tomorrow to figure it out.
PS - no rain here for months so I know it isn't the door seal leak. I have had the a/c on 24/7 all summer.
On the way back from work, yesterday, i ran into some rain, and noticed that there is water dripping from my door seal (right about where the oh sh!t handle is on drivers side). Now it's not a whole lot but its enough to make it annoying, about 3-4 drops per minute. Is this one of those defects i should live to live with, as with all the other cracks and noises, or should i take it to the dealer? I really don't like taking my car to the dealer for service .

Recently my 2013 Hyundai Elantra was subject to a hit and run. It is a new car with less than 2000 miles on it since October 2013. There was 9K in damage, most of which pertained to the back driver's side and the axle. Bumper, quarter panel, trunk floor, axle, wheel bearings, and two rims had to be replaced. Plus incidentals like tail lights and such. Because this is a new car, I received all new parts as a replacement. When the car was returned to me, the back seat kept getting wet in the rain.
After taking back to the shop twice, they finally diagnosed a small hole in the seal in a seam of the quarter panel area---something must have happened when putting everything back together. The door is fine and there is no moon / sun roof on the vehicle. I do not completely understand what this means. I know some basics about cars, but not to this level of detail. I searched by topic area and couldn't find anything that was related to this type of reason for water in the car.
Have the following questions: How a small hole in a quarter panel area would cause water to get into the back seat (on seat and floor)? What would be good things to watch out for post-fix? It is still a bit damp and rainy here, so I can't open the windows for things to dry out. Would have been nice for the collision center to dry the seats. How can I make sure mold/mildew won't develop?
Is it normal to have water on the door sill whenever it rains? Driver side. Passenger side haven't noticed any yet. Basically the black step cover which has Elantra on it is soaked whenever it rains.

View 6 RepliesI have a new 2015 Accord. After a recent rain storm I found about an inch of water in the well where the spare tire is stored. I took it to the dealer and they ran numerous leak tests but could not reproduce the problem.
Since the car was parked during the storm, I don't see how the water could have gotten in there except via one of the light assemblies or by getting past the gasket. In other words, it wasn't blown up into the trunk from the roadway. The puzzler is that the carpet in the car was dry when I found the water. I googled this for hours and I don't find others with 2015 trunk leak complaints. All the complaints are for earlier model Accords.
I was surprised by a leak and identified where the water was coming from, the bottom of my vehicle. It's from a gasket or seal on the front of the pan near the flywheel. 1994 Ford Explorer 4X4.
View 6 RepliesWater is getting into my car (1995 Accord LX) somewhere around the driver and back seat door. This causes the carpet on the driver's floor and back seat on the driver side to be wet. It only happens when it rains, so I think its a broken seal, or water is not draining properly.
I've tried spraying water on the car to see if I can figure out where its getting in, but no luck.
I have a 2005 Toyota Echo with no sunroof.
When there is heavy rain, I end up with extremely damp carpets in the driver's side. There is also water which looks as though it has leaked from running do the driver's side of the windscreen.
I have a strong suspicion that there is a leak in the windscreen, down the driver's side or at the bottom, but are there any other locations or suggestions that could be causing the leak ?
Also, if I take it in, is it possible just to replace the seal round the windscreen, or will the whole windscreen need to be replaced ?
My 1996 Toyota Avalon runs great. However, it is starting to smell musty because rain water is somehow entering my rear passenger door. I have checked the seals and there does not appear to be any leaks where the water could be collecting. When I open the door, I hear water swishing inside the door. The mechanic drilled holes in the bottom of the door but water still stays in the door. I would like to keep my car for several more years. I placed 4 Damp Rid containers on the back seat and they collect water! I replace them every time it rains.
View 5 RepliesWhen it rains or snows, the floor only of my 86 Civic Si hatchback ends up soaked, sometimes standing water. There is no visible leak anywhere, no water leaking in anywhere obvious. It's just the floor, the water seems to come up from beneath the carpet. Replaced windshield, didn't work. The car is otherwise in great shape, I bought in new in 1986.
View 5 RepliesOur '99 Explorer leaks when it rains. The water drips from under the dash on the driver's side floor. A while back a dealership put all sorts of sealant around the windshield gasket and that seemed to work for a while.
Where are the drains for the door channels, windshield and the air intake where the windshield wipers are connected? I'd like to make sure they are clear.
I am finding that after a heavy rain that water is running out of the bottom of all four door drain holes when I open them.I have not noticed this on any other of my previous vehicles.Is it "a" good that they are draining well, or "b" bad that water is getting in in the first place?
View 11 RepliesSo I took my GTI in for TSBs, new wipers, the door seal creak and new wheels (old ones were not painted behind the spokes) - when it was returned to me, I noticed (after I got home) the red door stripe on the passenger side would not light up. At one point they had taken that door panel off to see if it was creaking instead of the seals (which of course, it was not) and I assume that they forgot to connect something, or unplugged something accidentally. Any other suggestion, like a magical fuse I can replace? I so don't want to travel 60 miles back to this guy. And not only did they not fix the seals, the noise is worse than before, I think from them messing with the doors. But anyway, I'm looking for possible DIY fixes.

View 13 RepliesIt seems to rain every afternoon here lately, but by the time I get out to my car it's still quite hot. So I roll the windows down a little, and start to pull out of my parking space. However, as soon as the car moves, rain water just rolls right off the roof and comes pouring inside. There is a little lip between the roof and the top of the door line but that doesn't seem to be stopping it...does it have anything to do with the paint being new and still slippery? I've waxed my old mkIII GTI numerous times and never had an issue like this though. It's quite annoying having the entire door card and my left arm soaked every time it rains and I 'forget' not to put the windows down right away
View 10 RepliesAfter heavy rains there has been water on the floor behind the drivers seat or down by the pedals (depending on how the car is parked). Is this the result of a bad door seal? It definitely seems to be coming in around the door.
View 17 RepliesSoooooo I woke up this morning to a passenger footwell filled with a couple inches of water after it pissed rain last night (and continues to). It looks like it's dripping in right to the left of the doorjamb next to the passenger door speaker, under the kick panel. Is this common??
