On the RNS315 is it possible to turn off the radio and operate just the Nav or the Media? It seems that if I have the radio on and then switch on the Nav, for example, the radio stays on and the only way to "silence" it is to press the Mute button.
View 9 RepliesMy 52 Mercury Heater fan is working now, but the air blowing out of it is not warm and this does not change when I moving the temp lever on the dash. Is it likely just the heater control valve or is there something else possible wrong? I'm not finding anything online about how these systems work and my shop manual doesn't give me much info.
View 15 RepliesI'm having an intermittent problem with my radio. I have an '05 GX with Nav and I have installed the VAIS tech SLS. Everything works fine with the radio, but sometimes when I start the car the radio is turned off, even though the radio was left on when the truck was turned off. This is an intermittent problem and is possibly related to the VAIS unit. Is this a sign of a larger future problem with the Nav unit?
View 3 RepliesMy monsoon radio is beeping on my 2011.5 VW Passat. As soon as I turn the radio on the is a beeping sound. About 1 beep/second. Only beeps when radio is on. This is heard over the radio stations (ie. I can still hear the radio "behind" the beeping sound). This will start when I try to put a FM station in memory, turn the volume all the way down or when the battery dies. The radio is otherwise functioning normally (no SAFE being displayed). The beeping usually eventually goes away after several days to a week.
View 1 Repliesi have a 03 GX with 53000 plus miles on it. four days ago, i turn on the radio and there's no sound coming out of it. i tried also the tape player and the disc and it is the same thing. i can see from the nav screen that the radio is working for i can change the station and same thing with regards to the changer i can change the any of the six cd's on it. yesterday on my way home i turn on the radio and the sound is back. today it is out again.

View 7 RepliesIt is OK with the lights off and you can see the display, just with no back light when the lights are turned on. The light in the glove box is off too, but I can't find a blown fuse.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 F150 4-Door. A couple of weeks ago I tried to turn my radio on and it wouldn't come on. I though it was just the cold weather affecting it. The following week I tired the radio again and it still would not come on so I pulled the fuse and checked it and it was good. Put in back in and the radio still would not come on. So I got a new fuse and put it in and the radio still would not come on. So what am I missing. What else can it be.
View 3 RepliesToday as I was driving on the freeway my radio randomly shut down and turned back on. it was a complete power down as if I was turning the car on. I believe I seen the dash also do a system check. I also think I felt the power steering turn on and off for a split second. very odd. I almost feel the entire car shut down for a split second.

I have checked the interior lights and the windows and they turn off, so I'm assuming that the relay isn't the problem. I have asked a ford mechanic what he might think it would be and he said it could be the radio, but I don't think it is.
View 10 RepliesSo as of last night my radio is not cooperating. I had the battery disconnected due to other work on the Ex and now I am having radio problems. When the key is turned the radio "buzzes", from the unit itself, not the speakers. It seems as though as soon as power is applied it is trying to eject a disc but no buttons are pressed. It lasts about 15 seconds and then stops. I also have CD error showing on the display. I have read the multitude of issues with the factory head unit but hoping I can fix it, maybe CD is just stuck?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2002 Avalon XLS with 160K. I recently had the clock spring replaced by a friend, which fixed what it was supposed to fix - airbag light went off, cruise works, horn works. He did disconnect the battery when he did the work.
Whenever I turn off the car, and turn it back on, the time and date have resent to default, and I lose all the radio settings like stations, bass, treble, etc.
I have to admit I'm not sure if the current problem started RIGHT after the clock spring work, or a bit later. I'm thinking I would have noticed it right away. But I know the time/date and radio settings did work right before.
I've scoured the internet and can't find an actual answer - a lot of "could be". My hope is that the "secondary, memory" power fuse is blown.
I drove from office to home today. After 30 min, the remote unlock worked fine, got into the car, turned the ignition to "A" and "ON". All the dashboard lights, headlights and radio turned on. When I turned the key to "START" , car won't start and all the lights and radio turned off. There was no cranking and any other noise from engine. Removed the key and tried again. Now there is no power at all. Not sure what happened.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata Limited that now has 70k+ miles on it. For the past year I have been having a problem with the car turning off intermittently, it will occur at random times. I have had no issues starting the car whatsoever.
When I go to shut off my car the engine will turn off, but the cabin lights, and radio will stay on. The screen will also tell me to shift to park. Without turning the car fully on, I can shift the gears sometimes and I will shift it from drive to park again, and it still will not fully shut off. Today, it actually took 20 minutes to get it to go off - every time I hit the start/stop button I could hear it click as well, which was a new noise that I hadn't detected.
I have presented this problem to the dealership, but every time I do take it in the issue never seems to occur while there (just my luck) and they say they have "never heard of such an issue" to the point where I feel insane.
All recalls have been taken care of on my car at this point so I am not sure what the issue is, my fear is the switch is going out, but wouldn't I have the same issue starting the car?
Haven't driven the 2013 ES 350 very much yet but my Nav map has suddenly turned to black and white instead of the initial multiple colors, even during the day. What happened ... can't seem to find on the system how to revert back without going thru 900+ page book. Also, the map is showing some roads/hwys. with tiny circles (attached to each other) instead of the previous thick lines?
Radio, don't have the XM service but when listening to std. issue radio, sometimes and lasting maybe for 8-10 seconds or so, the radio suddenly sounds very "echoey" and more emphasized, it seems, from the back speakers. Then it reverts back to "normal" - only to do it again within the same 20 min. drive-time.
Today I got my car inspected (05 gli) and after the inspection, when I was driving home and went to a gas station. When I turned my car off and got out the radio (monsoon) stayed on. Then later when I opened my door the dome light did not come on. Passenger door turns light on and shuts radio off. I believe it is a door sensor? Where is this located and how do I change it or any other possibilities of what it could be? I did some research, and I have no issues locking the doors (security light blinks) and the passenger door works fine. Hoping there is a way to fix this without buying a whole new lock mechanism.

View 4 RepliesFound a simple fix for unlit radio control buttons, cd player opening and center display buttons while the parking/headlight switch is turned on. As it turns out, if the wire connector directly behind the dimmer switch wheel located to the left of the steering wheel is accidentally disconnected, you will not have any backlight for your in dash cd player opening,radio control buttons or your emergency hazard flasher button.
The simple fix is to first remove the left side silver/gray plastic vent cover which is located directly to the left of your dimmer control knob. Place one hand on the top of the vent cover and the second hand at the bottom the vent cover and firmly pull directly out. Second step is to pull towards you the miniature dash panel that the dimmer switch wheel is mounted to.
The arrow tip guide on the miniature dash panel will pull away from 2 guide slots mounted to the main dash panel. Third step is to reconnect the disconnected white male plug to the back of the dimmer switch wheel's female connector. Last step is to push back the miniature dimmer switch wheel's dash panel until it snaps back in place, then snap back in place the silver/gray plastic vent cover until it clicks back in place.
This started today, when I turn off the ignition and remove the key the radio stays on and the steering column does not lock. The guy at the dealership suggested spraying wd 40 into the ignition. No go.
2008 sonata.
I have been having electrical issues with my 2001 manual transmission Jetta. At times I turn the car off, remove the key and the radio stays on, trip mileage and clock will reset. I also had where I was at a stopped at a traffic light and the ABS, engine light, and another light (not sure which one, it was too fast) flashed on for half a second. What should be looked at first and possible changed?
View 11 RepliesI have a 2014 f250 with the my ford touch radio. In February I had to have the audio control module replaced because it was shorting out internally. Since then I've had a crackling noise in my speakers when the radio is turned up over half way. I'm about to drop it off at the dealer for the 3rd time and I'm going crazy!
