View 24 RepliesI have 4K miles on my R and I have noticed that the clutch "feels" softer and when engaging first gear, the clutch feel on up take feels different then when it was new. Am I crazy or does the clutch need to wear in / break in?!?
View 2 RepliesDrove from KC to Wichita (189 miles) on Friday. Drove around in the city (probably less than 22 miles) that evening. Touareg has been in the driveway of my father-in-law's house since. Got in the car this monring (Monday) to go pick up my 2 nieces and the thing was dead. It didn't want to give my key back but I insisted so it did.
I have it on a charger right now and it is drawing 12 AMPS. I just hope the thing starts later today when i have to get back on the road to go back to KC.
Big bummer. Nothing unusual that should have caused the problem, but I do have yet another theory to add to the pile. This theory is a running one from my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. It developed an electronic eye issue. When parked the eye sensor would malfunction and tell the headlights to come on. So, the battery would drain in my garage overnight. They replaced the sensor and the problem went away (which I thought was strange since the Jeep was off in the garage disabling the sensor from being able to tell the lights to turn on).
When I went out to the Touareg this morning I noticed that the parking lights were on (but very dim). When I switched the light switch to the "O" position they went off.
Do you think there is possibly a light sensor issue here as well? Who frinkin' knows?
I have had my 2006 B6 for 4 months now and it has been running perfect, and I have been loving it. I brought the car to the dealer to get PA state inspection and have the wiper recall taken care of. I then get a call from the dealer telling me the oil light came on during the test drive and they are looking into the cause.
Later that day the dealer calls me telling me that we have serious problems and that I will probably need a new engine, I was like WHAT!!! Now before I brought the car in it was running perfect I had no previous problems or anything. After talking to the dealer again, he said they found gas in the oil and a "ton" of metal parts in the oil filter compartment. They are now sending the VW Engineer and a local Rep to figure out what to do.
Engine failure at 12k miles? It seems weird and a major lemon if you ask me. I'm not sure what they're going to do at this point, but all I know is I drive 40k miles a year and need a care that can last, I am not paying $580 a month to drive a car with a replaced engine at 12k miles. This is very frustrating, I hope they either replace the car or pay off the remainder of the loan.
So i am writing for my Aunt and her 2005 prius. She had it in for a tune up drove it home and it died. Started up again and was fine after about ten minutes. Now the wierd part. She brought it in to see what happened etc all is fine and she starts to drive home and the odometer is reading roughly 30,000 miles less then when she brought it in...
View 8 RepliesI didn't drive my truck for one day and the batteries are died. This is the second time this has happen. That is a pretty fast drain time. THe truck only has 2500 miles on it. And I;m talking the batteries a dead dead. I hate having to take the truck to the shop. Just a big inconvenience. And it only happens about three weeks apart. I bet that would be pretty had to find the problem.
View 5 RepliesI had my transmission fluid changed because it was leaking from the pan. I did the job myself but called VW to confirm how much fluid I needed. They told me the wrong amount but we realized that after we did the job.. they did the repair for a huge discount and I only paid $200 bucks for the work for them to "fix" what they messed up. Volkswagen did it and I got the car serviced at the end of April basically. now its the first week of July and under 90 days since the car was service and now it is shifting hard between 2nd and 3rd gear or 35 miles to 45 miles per hour. The car isn't throwing a transmission code I have a vag com and there is no code coming up on that.
View 1 RepliesFan Clutch went out today 47,000 miles.
View 5 RepliesThe clutch started to slip on my 2006 Matrix at just 32K miles.Only going up hills ~3500rpm, near the engine's torque peak. The previous owner must have dogged it in the 8,100 miles they had it.Unfortunately no way to know that time bomb was there.
Got the car back today. (Excellent indie shop in College Park MD)The flywheel and pressure plate had blue color from overheating. The flywheel had to be resurfaced. The friction disk was not worn down much. The pressure plate springs apparently were weakened from the heat.I can really feel the difference.
I got my 2011 S Corolla brand new and it's been great thus far. To make things a little more exciting, I got a manual. The last manual I had was my 2006 325i so it's been a little while.
Over the past few weeks, both my wife and I are experiencing quite a bit of clutch shudder or chatter and are finding it more and more difficult to engage the clutch without completely shaking the car. We've noticed this the longer the car is driven. On cold starts it doesn't happen. I've read some horror stories of the tranny going out, a weak transmission mount, or a warped flywheel in these Corollas. We bought this car because it's supposed to be reliable and get good mileage. Also, I'm still under the powertrain warranty but I'm not sure if they'll cover the clutch.
I have not checked the transmission fluid yet either. I can really use some suggestions. I had a 318is for over 100,000 miles and never put a new clutch in it!!! I'm getting frustrated.
Having problem with 5R110W direct clutch. My nephew had his 2005 SD f 250 6.0 be told that 5R110W direct clutch problems. He was towing a trailer in tow mode and it started slipping in and out, so he took it to a dealer and they said that it was the direct clutch that was causing the problem and needed to be rebuilt, he only has 40000 miles on it but they said that it is out of warranty. What do you guys think that he should do?
View 12 RepliesI know my clutch is not going to last forever and I do think Ive gotten my share of use out of it but i want to know if there is a way i can determine just how much more life there may or may not be. Although I have not looked into it yet, Ive just learned to read these awesome forums before jumping to conclusions.
I have a 2000 f150 4.2 v6 with about 180.000 miles and i am starting to lose my pedal, not much left anymore. I think. Am I able to see the clutch plate via the inspection cover?( i know stupid question). if so , what do I look for.
In less than 30,000 miles, I've replace the clutch, throw out bearing, and pressure plate three times. Dealer adjuster clutch at 12,500. First replacement at 15,000 miles. I do not ride the clutch
View 8 Repliesmy steering wheel mounted controls for my MFD and paddles have died wondering of its a blown fuse of something more serious it was over 100 degrees for over 40 days this summer
View 5 RepliesSearched and found you tube video to get battery out but doesn't work on my fob. Mine slides open and once opened can't find battery, Vw shop if closed, can't lock or unlock doors?
View 6 RepliesCar's at the dealership, AC compressor died. Car has 22k miles. They stuck me in a Cobalt. Base model. Complete with manual windows and door locks.
View 6 RepliesThis is the 3rd time this has happened to me in the past week. As I am cruising I start to hear my exhaust gurgle a bit then the EPC light comes on and the tach starts bouncing around although the revs of the motor don't seem to match it. Then the car dies on me. If I give the car like 5 minutes I can start it up again otherwise it just cranks and cranks and will not fire. But today it did it again after I was able to start the car. I did some research but no one really had the same issue I have. One person said the EPC comes on if a sensor is bad/going bad. I was thinking it could be the engine speed sensor since the tach was bouncing around, but not sure. I don't have a VAG but can probably get a local to scan the car for me.
View 12 RepliesI was recently driving home when I made a left hand turn and the car died. I had the timing belt and water pump replaced 1,800 miles ago. It sounds like a timing issue to me. The last time I had timing issue it wouldn't run. This time it runs. Attached is a video of me starting it with the camera looking at the timing belt. The noise I heard made me shut it off. I did not want to cause more damage.

Driving home tonight went to take an exit and was over come with great surprise when my car didn't move haha. The power steering has seem to have gone. I got home and opened the hood, but due to the antarctic temps couldn't use my fingers to open the fluid cap. The little black box with the fluid seems to have a tick ticking every few minutes. Any thoughts as to what it could be. How bad is it to drive it like this till Thursday when I can make an appt..
I plan on bringing it to a mineke on break just to see if they can narrow it down.
Driving home on the highway today, not boosting, just regular driving. Car was acting fine, then just shut off. Tried starting, and it would crank, but not actually start.
Got it towed home. Scanned. Two codes: 01314, Engine Control Module. And again, 01314, Engine Control Module. Tried clearing codes, and it says "comm. error". Im using the VAG Check scanner from ECStuning, has always worked fine.
Thought it could be fuel pump, but the fuel pump primes when I open the door. I did notice that the throttle body refuses to align when I put the key in the second position, when it always has before. Radio works, all presets work. Unplugged the battery for a half hour, replugged, nothing. I'm leaving it unplugged overnight to see if that does anything.
How many miles can be driven after the computer tells you have zero miles left to empty? Or rather how many gallons do you think is left in the tank after the computer says you're empty?
