Tiguan :: 2013 - Winter Windshield Cleaning And Wipers Won't Working Properly

Well we got our first snowfall here and since buying the Tiguan and I had to clean windshields this morning. Go to lift the wipers off the windshield to clean under them and "THUNK"; they don't lift higher than a couple of inches above the windshield and they certainly don't stay there while I'm trying to scrape, brush, clear off snow and ice. The hinge on the wiper arm is below/under the trailing edge of the hood! This is a horrible design flaw.

Not mention that when knowing that we are going to get horrible freezing rain/snow, I would typically lift my wipers while away from the car so they would not freeze to the windshield. Clearly I cannot do this on the Tig.

This design flaw will lead to faster wearing of wiper blades through ice not being cleared and blades being frozen to the windshield in wet turning to freezing weather, a fairly common occurrence here. Like last night.

How do those of you in wintery climes deal with this issue? Is it only on the face-lifted '12s and '13s?

Golf VI R :: What Should Be The Max Height Of Coilovers In Winter

So, I am starting to look at coilover kits. I really want to have as close to stock ride height in the winter. Deep snow and chunks of snow/ice on the road are common here and I don't want to break bumpers. At least I don't want to break bumpers any more than a stock car would.

In the summer however, I want to lose the gap. Really given the last couple of winters, it would be really nice to be able to change the ride height in just a few minutes, without removing wheels or jacking the car up.

It seems that the coilover kits I have seen so far start at about 1" lower than stock. Are there any kits out there that start at, or close to, stock height? I know 1" isn't much lower than stock, but again I am trying to get as close to stock for winter driving. Is there something that can be added to these kits to push the max height up some?

Oh yeah, ride quality and cornering performance are important too!

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Car Starts Rubbing In Winter

Have a mk4 GTi vr6 with long beaches with sit at an offset of 38. Honestly the offset thing confuses me quite a bit. I'm running 235/17/45 tires. I had my car lowered before the winter and I can only go so low before it starts rubbing. What size spacers i should go with to basically go as low as possible. If not as low as possible, I love a wide rear end so maybe poking in the rear end and lowered in the front for like a rake effect.

Golf/GTI VII :: TPMS Light On With New Winter Tires After 30 Miles But Still At 36.5 PSI

Yesterday, I swapped my OEM 18" setup for new 17" winter wheels and tires (set at 37.5 PSI at 55 F)). Today I drove 30 miles and then my TPMS light came on (Temp=36F). Pulled over, checked pressure - all tires at 36.5 PSI.

Golf/GTI VI :: Getting Stuck Especially When Parking Alongside The Street In Snowy Winter

This is the first snowy winter that my car is going through. Often times, especially when parking alongside the street, my car gets stuck. So I usually try the reverse and forward motions couple times and most of the times I'm able to get out of the snow. But while doing so, sometimes the engine reaches high rpm because of no traction. And when i get stuck a lot i usually have to do this a few times to get unstuck.

Today for the first time, after a terrible 20 minutes of trying to leave my works parking lot, some errors came up on the screen for just a bit. The brake error system, airbag system, tire sensor flashing, steering wheel symbol, and i think one other error but just do not remember which. About a min or 2 after that i got out of the parking lot on a regular road with less snow and while parked at the light all the error symbols went away besides the airbag one, which eventually went out when i got home.

What might have caused it or if its a serious issue or not. And also, is getting the engine to high rpms when trying to get unstuck in snow piles bad or does it eventually mess it up? Just getting tired of this snow.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 1.8t - RPM Going Up And Down / Hesitation After Cleaning Throttle Body

I decided to take out the throttle body and clean it with throttle body cleaner that I got from autozone, after I put everything back, I started my car and the motor was shaking and smoking a lot out the muffler and just would not be drivable at all. the RPM was just going up and down and hesitating bad. later I took off the spark plugs and they were very much burnt black at the tips and that is probably not normal right? but I replaced them with NGK BKR7E spark plugs and it still gave me the problem.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Pump Won't Prime After Cleaning MAF Sensor / Car Cranks But Not Starting

I'm having a situation here. Yesterday I decided to clean the MAF in my 01 VW Jetta 2.0, so without disconnecting the battery I unplugged and took the MAF sensor out and sprayed it using "CRC MAF sensor cleaner", let it dry for about 30 to 40 minutes and then re installed it. When I tried to start the car, I opened the ignition (ON position) and didn't hear the pump priming, still tried to start the car, it when on for about 2 seconds at rough-800rpm idle then rpms dropped and car stopped running. Then, I tried to started it again a couple of times more and I still don't hear the fuel pump priming and the car will crank but not start.

Did I ruin/blew the fuel pump or something in the system? I don't understand what could have possibly gone wrong. I already tried searching for it but did't find the exact same situation and though details might be important.

Golf V R32 :: 2008 - Interior Lights Do Not Come On

My 2008 R32 interior lights do not come on when I open the drivers side door, works OK from passenger door. I can not find the door switch. I've searched all around the door and the door frame. No luck. Also the doors will not lock, and using the key to roll up or down the windows or sunroof don't work.

Golf/GTI VII :: 2016 - AC Draining To Interior

2016 Autobahn about 5 weeks old - A couple of weeks ago I noticed a DEEP pool of water in the rear passenger floorboard.

I thought a kid spilled a bottle of water or something, but now two weeks later, it's still there.

It is just water, there's been zero rain here in CA, and no recent car washing.

I believe it is from the wife's trip to work and back when she runs the AC the entire way.

I just went out and ran the ac for 20 minutes, and there is zero water dripping from under the vehicle.

1) where is the condensation drain line? I hear it's along the firewall in the engine compartment.

2) What else could cause the condensation line to drain to the interior?

3) What about the carpet? Any chance at the dealer if we push for replacement?

Golf VI R :: Interior LEDs Flickering A Lot

I moved over some interior LED's from my past cars (MKV R32 & MK6 GTI, same fitment for basically all of the bulbs) and they're flickering a lot.

From what I've seen, it's only the dome lights -- the vanity lights, trunk lights & footwell lights are all fine...

I think it's important to note that these LED's worked fine in my past cars. I've reached out to deAutoKey to see if they can replace them...

Golf VI R :: Interior LEDs Flicker Badly

I'm looking for a source that sells high quality LEDs. I already have LEDs in my R but they flicker horribly. I've sent the LEDs back for replacement twice and each time they were replaced they started to flicker within a month. I don't use the lights very often but I can't deal with the flickering anymore.

I won't mention the company I purchased the LEDs from to avoid any favoritism or slander.

Golf VI R :: Interior LEDs Blinking On And Off Every Few Seconds

Installed an ecs LED interior kit last night. Didn't go for a drive, just installed the LEDs. this morning i change some codes 1 at a time starting with rear tails byte 18. moved on to byte 4 bit 4 and made the change to allow for window up and down after the doors are opened. after making this change i noticed the interior LEDs blinking on and off every few seconds.

They didn't do that last night but I wasn't sitting in the car for a few minutes either. so i change what i did back to stock and the LEDs are still blinking. Not sure if I accidentally clicked on something I shouldn't have or what. And my computer crashed the other day and i lost my full scan and copy of coping. is this normal for LED interior lights? if not can someone hook me up with the long code for a NA car?

I did do the factory reset on the mfi computer and the rear head liner lights stopped blinking but the fronts still blink.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Removed TFL Pin, All Interior Lights Are Not Working

I pulled the TFL pin from the back of the harness plug that goes to the headlight switch (Euro one at that) but not only did it kill the all the dash, console, switch light, but the DRLs stayed. Pin was the 3rd one from the left on the top row if you look at the harness plug as it sits in the car. Thicker gauge red wire.

This is a 2003 Wolfsburg Jetta.

Golf V R32 :: Interior Clicking Noise - Electronic Not Mechanical

I began noticing a clicking noise inside this week as I've been driving with the windows up this past week. (Had to run AC because of the humidity) It happens when first moving and accelerating from either a stand still or rolling at a very low speed. It sounds like a relay is clicking on near the center console or rear seat. It then clicks again when slowing down to a slow roll or complete stop. I've only really began noticing this week, but I think the noise started after the recall. Could it be a relay that I just haven't noticed before? Now that I notice it, I always hear it clicking, even when I've got music on.

Golf V R32 :: Birds Chirping In The Interior When Roll Over Some Bumps?

I've had my R for 10 days and I've noticed a weird noise in the interior when I roll over some bumps. It literally sounds like a bird chirping. Very odd. It's not on all bumps, but it is noticeable and seems to be happening more often. I've still got less than 500 miles on the car.

What the heck is it? I'll be taking my car into the dealership on 2/28 to have my front grille (sans license plate bracket) installed. So, I'll ask them to take a look then.
