Golf/GTI VI :: Car Strobing At Start Up

So i have had my tails installed for awhile and they are amazing!

But my dad/friends have pointed out when i start the car, they strobe but not at random. They say the Outer left blinks 3 times, then the rest blink 3 times at the same time. and after that they work flawlessly. I have not vag comed yet, as im looking into buying it soon, no euro switch, and yes my dash is like an xmas tree Its easy to check, just turn the car on and quickly run to the back of your car and it should strobe within 20 seconds of start up.

Passat (B6) :: 2006 - At Start Up Tail-lights Strobing For Seconds

I currently noticed something today, that my euro LED taillights (HELLA smoked) are strobing when i start up my car, only the LEDs (Amber and the brake light). It strobes for a couple of seconds. know for a fact, that it never happened before. After the start up and the strobing for a couple of seconds everything gets back to normal. What could the problem be ?

Golf VI R :: No Start Up - Chattering / Clattering Sound On Push To Start

Today I tried starting my car (shortly after I drove it with no problems 2 hours earlier), and when I pushed the start button (holding it down firmly), it made this weird clattering-clicking noise (the dials on the cluster went haywire), but no noises were coming out of the engine, so there was not attempt to even turn the engine (wasn't the grinding noise from engine that you get if you don't hold down the start button firmly long enough). Thought it was the battery so tried to jump the car, but it wouldn't start immediately either. The AC/radio were all on while I was attempting to start the car - shouldn't be the case if the battery was dead???.

After about the 3rd attempt to start the car in the middle of the jump start, the engine started.

Anyways, got home, and then tried starting the car again and no luck. Does this sound like an issue with the battery (lights and AC and radio were all working fine), or perhaps the starter/push button? Has there been any recalls/TSB on anything related for the MKIV R?

Golf VI R :: Harder To Start When Cold Outside - Few More Turn Over Required To Start Up

I've noticed that she has to turn over a few more times than normal to start up. I don't have any engine mods and I'm approaching 10k miles. I've found a couple posts where people say their cars are a little harder to start when it's cold out, but I live in Hawaii and the temperature is never below the mid 60's.

Golf V R32 :: Won't Start - If Trying To Start Getting Low Oil Pressure Light?

It was -4 F this morning, though the car has been started in colder temperatures recently. It has been a few days since the car has been started but on the first attempt the car ran for a few seconds normaly and then died.

- The engine will only turn over but not start now.

- I get 3 beeps and a low oil pressure message when I try to start the car. (Tried multiple keys)

- Checked oil and it shows over the max a little, though my driveway has a slight slope to it towards the front. (wiped dipstick and got readings multiple times.)

- Only about 2.5k since my last oil change. I am currently at 58k miles.

- Had 40K service done about 7k ago. (New battery was part of the deal)

- All stock except Milltek catback exhaust and some LED bulbs.

Ran into a thread that the guy had checked and replaced numerous parts of the fuel and ignition system to no avail, hope this isn't the case here.

Golf IV R32 :: Car Won't Start

Stopped @ my Mom's for a minute. Got back into the .:R after like 10 minutes and it won't start.

- it cranks but won't start.

- Checked fuses and all are good.

- When trying to start the car it doesn't fire up but the RPM's blip up to about a 1000 rpm and then falls back down but nothing.

If it is MAF wouldn't the car start but run funny. Kinda like a bad coil.

Golf V R32 :: Car Won't Start

My 08 R32 will not start....

My fuel pump primes when I open the door and turn the key in.

The starter turns but the engine does not catch.

The battery has been tested and it is good and fully charged.

The exhaust has a rich smell after trying to start it.

No codes at all.

It has been sitting 2 weeks and I have ordered some parts to hopefully fix this issue...

Temp sensor, looks easy enough to install and I found some videos/diy on this. I will hopefully put it in today.

My problem is that after reading around on the boards I ordered a crank position sensor also. I cannot find a howto/video/diy on installing this sensor. The only thing I found was a small thread that said it is on the bottom of the motor. I cannot even find the sensor to replace it.

Golf IV R32 :: Everything Seems Fine But Car Won't Start

My R32 won't start . I drove it today to the shops, no problem. Got back into the car, turned the key, starter motor works fine, engine tries to catch light (it like chug chug chugs) and then stops. Tried over and over, used a bit of throttle too, but it won't catch light/idle etc.

I've a feeling the engine isn't getting fuel, as it seems to want to start, but it won't catch light. After many many attempts, it now just cranks over, there is no trying to catch light (no more chug chug chug)

It got towed to the local VW shop, and they plugged in the diagnostics, and it did not show any faults.. I checked all the fuses in the dash board, none of them seemed out. No warning lights on the dash either. They are gonna put a fuel pressure gauge on it tomorrow, and see if the fuel pump is out.

I was thinking it was a Coil pack, but I know from my past 1.8T experience, when they fail it's slightly different... in that the engine will start and idle, but with a serious misfire. My case is different - the engine won't start, but the starter motor turns fine.

(the battery is fully charged - I charged it last night before my trip out today!)

Golf/GTI VI :: Car Start Then Stutters

Well this happened way too many time already. I would turn on my car and sometimes it starts right up, other times it attempt to start then stutters (if that makes sense, imagine as if the battery were disconnected during start up) then resumes with an ESP Error on the dash. I would say this happened to me more than 10 times.

And also, why I get a "Brake Error" as well, that would be great. It hasn't popped up in a while but it showed up and vanished within seconds.

Had the car for about a week, Autobahn with lighting pack, leaving home is set to fogs. So when its dark out and I have the switch in auto, obviously the fogs come on when I unlock the car, as soon as I push the button to start the car the headlights will come on for a microsecond, shut off, then start up again and stay on. This happens about 99% of the time and it can't be good for the ballasts.

Golf VI R :: Cannot Start Due To ESP Error

I have experienced ESP error when trying to start the car. When I turn the key, the engine does not crank, instead, the ESP error shows up on MFD. I have to wait for several minutes until the EPC light is on. Then I can start the car with the ESP and EPC light off.

From the forums, I have already had my battery replaced and still the problem persists. I take my car to local garage which cannot troubleshoot the cause. They just say it might be the relay or even the ECU. So, wonder if there is any clue?

Golf/GTI VI :: Car Won't Start - ESP Error

I was trying to install my MDI in a parking lot where I could get some space. I thought the radio fuse was inside the panel by my drivers side door. I pulled those fuses out one by one, the I realized it was under the hood. I'm not done swapping pins, but I need to drive the car and it won't start. I didn't put the radio back in. My MFI says ESP error when I turn the car on. I have a micro can with me, but it's having a hard time finding the interface.

Golf IV R32 :: Won't Start / Turned Over On Second Try

So the other day my car had a problem starting, but on the second try it turned over.

Well after work tonight I went out to my car and tried to leave.... The car started for a split second and then died. It would sputter then shut off. It seemed like the car was not getting any fuel...

There were 3 instances when the car started tonight like it was going to run, but when gas was given it sputtered out again. Pulled the fuel line into the engine and when trying to start and push on the gas, no fuel spilled out. Pulled the fuel pump relay and switched it out, still same problem Is this the fuel pump?

Golf IV R32 :: Won't Start Suddenly

I have mkiv r32 with just a hair over 136xxx miles. I was driving the car up the interstate and it spurted for about two seconds no lights came on. Didn't think anything about it. So continue driving for about another 2 hours with no problem stop and get gas now car will crank run rough have to feather throttle to keep it running then it just dies again no lights. There plenty of oil its still clean and the battery connections are good.

Golf IV R32 :: A/C Compressor Won't Start?

Well, car is back in one piece now but I'm having problems to make my AC to run again. We change the condenser due to broken line, and now the AC lines are empty, yesterday when trying to refill the R134 freon gas, the AC compressor fails to run. I notice the compressor connector was not plugged in, so I tried to reconnect it and fail to lock the two parts together, for some reason the plug is not plugin !!

Maybe a broken tab on the male socket, i don't know. Other than that, i can't diagnose or make my AC compressor to go on again, what to try ?? All i know is that the compressor is good and should run again, it didn't get any damage from wreck.

Also the airbag light is on, even when no airbag popped out when I hit the curb, anyway, is there any quick fix to that light, maybe a reset or something, what should I inspect for to find the problem.

Golf IV R32 :: Car Won't Start With No Apparent Reason

I tried starting my car today and it didn't want to go. I took out the air intake sensor blew at it and plugged it back in and started it, but it didn't sound the same, the muffler wasn't making as much noise as usual and just sounded like the engine wasn't working the same. After that it started normal and i've been driving for about a week, and today it didn't want to start again so i took out the censor did the same but still didn't start so i put down the clutch revved it a couple times and like magic it worked.

I think i need to change the censor but i'm not sure and i don't want to spend money if i don't have to.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 01 - Car Only Cranks, Won't Start

About a month ago I went to start my car and it started up and died and now it won't start at all. All it does is crank and crank and crank. My vagcom say j271 relay open circuit . so I replaced the 428 relay and it still doesn't start. I'm also not getting any epc or cel light with the key in the on position which is strange to me. But if I swap the 428 relay with the 100 relay right next to it I get all the dash lights like I'm suppose to but as soon as I try to start it the two lights go out and won't come back on until I pull the relay out and put it back in. I hate obd2 so much sometimes.

How to identify this noise? I'm guessing water pump or timing chain tensioner but not sure.
