Golf/GTI VI :: Cannot Accelerate More Than 150 To 160 Kmh
Dec 3, 2014
I bought Golf 6 (in Germany) 3 months back. Yesterday i was traveling on Autobahn (German Motorway), and i felt that even though with accelerator fully pressed, I could not accelerate car more than 140-150 kmh. Only when there was a slope in road, then it could go 160 kmh. I have also traveled on Autobahn before and now i remember that after i used to reach 180-190 kmh, it was hard to go up till 200 kmh. Anyhow, I didn't want to reach 200 kmh, so i didnt bother anyway. But yesterday, it felt like there was really some problem. I fully pressed the accelerator for one whole minute, still the maximum speed it reached was 150 kmh.
I have following Golf 6 model, Year 2009
Engine is 1.4 TSI (122 PS or 90 kW)
Mileage is slightly above 90,000 km
Brake oil recently changed
I am sure with this engine power, it should not be a problem to go over 200 kmh easily.
After my journey way finished, i checked the tires. One of the front tire seemed to have less air. Also when i was buying this car, a mechanic told me that tires should be changed maximum after next 10,000 km. So far i have covered around 4000 km with this car.

So I bought this car about 2 years ago and the last couple weeks it's had trouble starting and will sometimes stall out when your about to accelerate (from a stop sign) the mechanic I go to replaced the a couple relays under the drivers side dash, however I it hasn't made it better it actually made it worse as now it won't start at all the last 2 days. It rolls over and tries to start just doesn't. Its my only car and I already missed a week of work for it ( I commute ). I believe the relays where the ECM is what he said number 249 I believe.

I'm having with the first startup in the morning. The car turns over fine, but when I accelerate there is a noticeable hesitation. This was only occurring for the first 20 seconds, when I accelerate out of my driveway. Now, it has gotten progressively worse. Still not stalling or anything like that, but it has become more pronounced. I have an APR stage 1+ with a Carbonio intake. Others mention they were experiencing a similar situation. I have tried idling before shutting the car off as well as letting the car sit for 30 seconds after I start her up. Im wondering if I disconnect the battery and allow the ECU to reset might work.

I was on my trek home today back from mikes and I went over a bump going through a toll booth, probably going 15mph. When I went to accelerate in 2nd it randomly started to cut out and did that for a few seconds. After that noticed it sounded like a clamp on my downpipe is a little loose. And when I give it gas it sounds as if I have an intake, just not as loud. So I pulled over at the rest stop and it sounded like the clamp came a little loose. What could cause that intake like sound? I'm going home tomorrow to go over the downpipe and check to see of anythings loose.

So the other day as I was trying to accelerate my car had absolutely no power at all. it almost seemed like it went into a limp mode or something of the sort. No matter what gear or how much gas i gave it, it barely chugged along at more than an idle. I pulled over turned it off, then waited a few seconds and turned it back on, same deal. Once more, I turned it off and back on and finally, it seemed to be ok. It flashed a warning light but it cleared after I turned off the car.

The snow here is plentiful; there is often snow/ice on streets even after they've been plowed. I actually went from a 2001 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 to my new R32, so I'm a bit concerned about slips and slides. FYI: Since I drove a Rear-wheel drive Jeep (with part-time 4WD) before, I think my driving habits are generally cautious around turns, since the Jeep fishtails if you accelerate on a turn.

I have a 2.0. Custom gt28 turbo project. Been up and running for awhile now. Took it on a 4 hr trip home and drove it back.
All of a sudden after the holidays it started to overheat and I had no heat. It will not overheat when idling. I replaced the thermostat recently. Lower hose gets warm when it opens. I replaced the green top sensor. I have done a wire tuck etc and I am running a closed coolant system. I believe I have gotten the air out of the system.
It will idle all day at 190. But as soon as I drive and accelerate hard or go over 50 mph it overheats and will not cool off unless I pull over and turn the car off. It will steam as if it's losing coolant somewhere but I think it's at the cap (too much pressure?).
I am thinking water pump but I am not sure. I got the car with 124k miles I'm at 127000. I was told timing was done at 90 could the pump be failing already? Also when it overheats I get a cel for misfire is that normal?

So I took my R into the dealership to have them look into the rattle/vibration noise that happens when I accelerate. They say that they looked into it and found nothing that was loose and said everything was fine.
When I first got the car I was showing it off to a friend of mine, letting him hear the intoxicating exhaust note, he was impressed, then I rev it and he was like hmmm what was that? Needless to say I was a bit embarrassed.
At this point I don't like getting on the gas in fear that someone will hear this noise and I cringe when I hear it. It's unacceptable for a $30k+ car. The noise does seem to get better once the car is heated up, but that's only after quite a bit of driving and its still there, just not as bad.
I'm taking the car in again tomorrow for something unrelated and I'm going to make sure I give it a few revs so they can hear what I'm hearing.

My driver seat has been squeaking lately whenever I accelerate (at all - not just under hard acceleration). It seems to be any amount of g-force pushing directly backward causes it. I can reproduce it by just pushing back in to my seat when stopped and the engine is off too, so I know for certain it's the seat and not anything drive train or suspension related or anything else. I tried putting a little grease on the tracks that the seat slides fore/aft on, might have worked a tiny bit, but still there. Almost seems like something is loose... not sure. I might end up taking it by the dealer.

Its been few month hearing this noise from my r32. Car has 54k miles currently.
I hear rumble? sound when I accelerate going uphill. It seems like coming from front side and only sounds 1-2sec.

When I get of the throttle my R is acting weird. It almost feels like the engine is moving, it doesn't feel smooth anymore. Also when I get to a stop and downshift it feels harsh . When I accelerate and go off the throttle it feels harsh, just if my engine would torque. But I checked the mounts and they are all good. Could this be something with the differential as well?

Just bought a new 2011 GTI last week, now I'm hearing a weird noise when I accelerate in first or in reverse. It just sounds like something is loose in the engine bay. I don't know if it's the wastegate sound that occurs on all TSI's or if it's something else. It's basically like the sound of a vibration but without the feeling of a vibration.

So after owning my R for just over a week I've noticed that when I accelerate hard or let off the throttle the shifter seems to move quite a bit. Is this normal with the stock mounts or is it something I should have looked at? I know the stock mounts are rubber to aid in isolating the vibration of the engine but it seems like the shifter moves a little more than I would expect.

My GTI is about a month old and I just recently started to notice a slight crunchy sound if I accelerate from 1st gear really slow (right around 1k rpm, maybe a little higher). You have to be going pretty slow and it goes away the second it goes to 2nd gear. It's almost like a creaking wooden floor but more metallic sounding, or driving over a soda can... It's really hard to describe.
I noticed this about week 2, but it seems to have gotten a little louder since then, or maybe i'm just going crazy... I have my first complimentary check up tomorrow morning. They are also going to be installing the waste-gate clip for the rattle noise, which I also noticed after the first week or so.
I will post on the results when I bring it up to the dealer tomorrow. In the meantime. I've looked around and one forum seemed to have a similar sound described, and said it was also the wastegate rattle, just not in the typical 2k-3k rpm range... I'm just hoping it's not a finicky dsg/mechatronic issue with the clutch not disengaging correctly.

2007 Rabbit shakes quite hard when i accelerate mainly on any type of incline and only between 35-60 mph. When i take it to the shop they cant find a problem.

It seems like the first thing in the morning when I pull out of the driveway my car acts like it not accelerating smoothly. It's kinda jerky and seems like it takes a second to get the gas. I mean I know some cars are a little jerky after not being driven for a day or so but she is brand new, only a few months old.

The Electronic Power Control light in my 1999.5 Jetta GLS VR6 came on a day or two ago. Now it hesitates like crazy even after I've already pulled out and am trying to accelerate. Is there any common problem/malfunction that would cause the light to come on, and is there any correlation between the light and this symptom? Also, the check engine light came on.

Really weird thing is going on with my 03 1.8t Jetta, sometimes when I am driving the battery light will come on. It will turn off when I slow down but will turn back on as soon as I accelerate. After a while of this happening I will hear a burst of air and the car will jerk back a little bit then drive perfectly normal. I've looked all over google and posted in a local Euro car group`and haven't found anything.

Every time i make a turn or accelerate decently hard, i hear a pop, which generally sounds like a tree branch snapping...this isn't a quiet noise either, also i can feel it in the steering wheel sometimes as well.
