Golf/GTI VI :: Bubbling Or Gurgle Noise In Engine Area
Feb 18, 2012
Turned the car off and I could hear what sounds like a bubbling or gurgle of some sort coming through the center console vents, no dash board lights or anything leaking, after being off for 15 min it stopped, I will notify my dealer, what this may be ?

Just wanted to make sure this isn't a problem? Sometimes after a drive, usually longer ones, when the engine has heated up and running for around 20ish minutes, I hear a harsh bubbling noise coming from the engine.
I popped the hood and wanted to see where it was coming from, I touched around and felt the dipstick (oil) vibrating, but then I felt the oil pan and couldn't feel any bubbling in there.
Also I disconnected the battery as the bubbling was going on, and as soon a I did that, it had stopped.

I've noticed a gurgle type noise coming from within the dash board (it seems) while my T is idling at a traffic light. When I accelerate from a stop, it seems to go away. I'm thinking it's coolant running through the heater box. I have a V-8.....

I have a 2002 Audi a6 Quattro 2.7t. Recently my fiancée filled up my gas tank and when he did this he continued to pump fuel into the tank even though the automatic shut off trigger had released. In doing so he said he filled it to the point that it was just about to spill out. The first 1/8 of a tank the car drove like normal. Then all of a sudden i very very briefly could smell an odor of rotten eggs. The following morning my car had loss of power to the point that i parked it. My fiancée was reading about how to fill the tank properly and when he did he went ahead and released the gas cap and at that point he said he heard a bubbling noise come from the tank. My car is drivable now but not up to par. It slightly sputters (bogged) at take off still. What else it could be ?

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me in the past week. As I am cruising I start to hear my exhaust gurgle a bit then the EPC light comes on and the tach starts bouncing around although the revs of the motor don't seem to match it. Then the car dies on me. If I give the car like 5 minutes I can start it up again otherwise it just cranks and cranks and will not fire. But today it did it again after I was able to start the car. I did some research but no one really had the same issue I have. One person said the EPC comes on if a sensor is bad/going bad. I was thinking it could be the engine speed sensor since the tach was bouncing around, but not sure. I don't have a VAG but can probably get a local to scan the car for me.

Exhaust systems/setups that make the MOST popping and gurgle sounds DURING shifts and deceleration. I know decel popping happens when there is less air in the combustion chamber and any unburnt fuel in there will burn at a much slower rate, slow enough that some of it is still burning as the exhaust valve opens causing the pop. So, with that said...which system out of the box would most closely fit the bill without getting too technical?

I've got my "P1121" fix (replaced coolant control valve) recently and after about a week or so of driving (about 500 miles) I started to hear a gurgling sound at start up and sometimes when I turn the car off. I also noticed that pretty good amount of coolant (front side) was lost over the that same period of time (it wasn't losing coolant before for good 2k+ miles). I instantly filled the coolant and started the car. No gurgling then. But the gurgling came back after about 3 hours when I started it again. Car is not giving me any codes though.

Pulled up to a red light yesterday evening and saw some smoke near the right side of the hood. I immediately checked out the temperature gauge and it was fine. Car didn't appear to be overheating. I make it home--2 more blocks--pull into the garage, leave the engine running and pop open the hood.
THE COOLANT IN THE RESERVOIR TANK IS BUBBLING LIKE HOT SOUP AND A NICE PUDDLE HAS ACCUMULATED NEAR MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE--NOT TO MENTION THE TRAIL OF COOLANT LEFT DOWN THE STREET AND UP MY DRIVEWAY.
After some minor research it appears that it can be a few factors (ie, thermostat, fans????) I assumed it was a cracked reservoir (which would explain the leak) but the bubbling it the real issue.

This is a 2011 that is parked in the sun a bit, but not for prolonged periods, and it's definitely not parked in death valley or anything. I don't like the fact that it seems like the laminate coating is bubbling and separating. I'm still within warranty and haven't brought it into the dealer to have them look at it just yet.
That said, what would be the fix for this? Windshield replacement? The pic is somewhat older, and the bubbling appears slightly worse, and is at a higher concentration, and goes the entire length, or at least 85% or so around the edge of the windshield border where it meets the body panels. These areas are not accessible from the interior of the car, nor are they on the exterior of the car either.

It's darn cold in many parts of the east. -4 this morning. Anyway, driving to work today, I had my heater on about halfpower, and about 30 min. into my commute, the air vent began making a bubbling, chirping sort of noise. I turned it off until I got to work. When I parked, I turned it back on, and it was making a very loud, straining noise.
It's a 2009 Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix twin)...

When I parked my car in the garage this evening, I noticed a definite "gurgling" noise and my first thought was that it was most likely coming from the coolant reservoir (even though it was cool outside and I wasn't driving hard at all before parking it). However, when I checked under the hood, it was obvious that the sound was not coming from that location (and the coolant looked OK/normal).
I followed the sound to the back of the car and it definitely seemed to be coming from the right (passenger) side rear area of the car (possibly the gas tank). I removed the gas cap but there was no pressure built up and the noise continued -- I also checked under the car and nothing was leaking anywhere and there was no odor of gasoline.
So, when I searched the R32 FAQ, the only thing that sounded close was that possibly is was the leak detection pump cycling; but the FAQ made no mention of a gurgling noise and there was none of the clicking (or any other sound along with this gurgling) that seems typical of the leak detection system.
There is the possibility that the car could have made this sound in the past but it was pretty obvious to me this time so I think I would have noticed it if it had occurred previously. One other note, I did fill the gas tank during the drive right before I parked it and heard this noise, but I drove probably 12 miles (including twice turning off the motor) between the gas fill-up and parking it in my garage.

I did replace one of this days the rear main seal in my r32, and reinstall the clutch like i normally do, and right after i start the car I notice this horrible noise, scare the hell of me cuz i thought i did not had oil in the car for a moment, but i did never drain it, so I ran to get my stetoscope and the noise is coming from the clutch flywheel area, so i did remove everything apart and reinstall it, resurface the flywheel got another clutch and pressure plate, and nothing the noise is still there, do this noise sound familiar to u?
Timing chains? engine is new, and when I mean new I mean only 175 miles, got it from the dealer.. Main bearings? Clutch? only 100 miles got it new about 3 months ago. I already check all the pulleys and none make any kind of noise, [URL] ....

This rattle goes away when I open the sunglasses holder and pinch the roof together. It's not the sunglasses holder door itself. Any write up on how to open this up so I can check out what's in there?

I just got done rebuilding my 7A-FE engine and I noticed that at idle its somewhat noisy from the engine bay. With the hood popped it sounds like its coming from the valvetrain area, like around the valve cover/intake manifold noise. I'll have to get a video up of it. It's not a grinding noise or anything like that, it just sounds like the valvetrain itself is just noisy.
Are these engines just chatty like that? I know I've heard of the 1zz being somewhat noisy.

I just bought a Camry 05 v4. it has 79k mileage. I hear some noises from engine area; what is this annoying noise coming from?
Here is my recorded video.....

Noise comes from area of engine by belts and sounds like it might be a bearing. Thought it might just be because this is a timing chain engine. Engine well maintained. Any common issues with these? Difficult to check due to all the moving parts in that area. Read somewhere that water pumps go on these regularly. Not leaking any coolant but I guess it could be the bearing. It is just very difficult to isolate where the noise is coming from.

I recently noticed some kind of a faint buzzing noise coming from the engine area. basically when the radio is off I can hear some kind of a buzzing noise under medium load, it sound like a loose heat shield or something. I took it to a dealer this morning, did a test drive with the tech who also heard the noise, got a call later on telling me that the noise is normal and is present on the other Tiguans as well.

So aside from many different fluid leaks, and the sound of rattling coming from my engine which I have been told is my gas pinging. I am hearing what I can only describe as the sound of a small explosion coming from under the hood. Its not as loud as a backfire, but it definitely sounds like something is combusting where it shouldn't be. its a '93 XLT V6. What could it be? how screwed am I?

Its coming from the Belt area on the engine, only at start/idle goes away completely after 10 mins. I spayed oil on all the pulleys but its still there.

What did it turn out to be? Safe to drive ?
