Someone broke the passenger side mirror on my '10 GTI. They broke only the glass, not the housing. Is the glass available as a replacement part, or do I have to replace the entire housing/assembly? If this is a quick cheap job, I'll do it myself.

Do I have to replace the entire housing? The mirror still tilts and moves properly.
Someone before me used the wrong thing to scrape ice off their mirror. I am having a hard time finding replacement glass for my side mirror. I only need a driver-side, and I would like it to have the convex outside portion like it does now. That said, I wouldn't mind getting new glass for both sides.

I got in very minor accident the other day and the glass part of the passenger mirror popped out and broke on the ground. I just got my replacement glass from Amazon (I think the brand is Fit System or something). The rear tab is broke on the new part and the glass piece isn't anywhere near factory quality.
Where I can purchase an OEM replacement online? Just looking for the glass part. Also - is there a trick to snapping it back on? For some reason I cant get the top tabs to snap into place, even with the OEM broken mirror (when I tried to put it back on.

I got my spherical glass in and was all excited and ready for a 5 minute install, but no dice.
There is a youtube video that seems to remove the mirror in a manner consistent with what the mount on the back of the replacement looks like, but for the life of me, I can't find or see behind there enough to push in the arm that will release the mirror.
It just occurred to me that the little indent could be pushed or pulled depending on the mount. Looks like I'll need a hook like tool to test this theory. (The tool used in the video seems like it has a hook on it, but he's too darn fast).
How to to remove the side mirror glass? It's not in the Toyota manual book. What about the black frame that goes around it ?
View 19 RepliesI broke the mirror glass on the drivers side mirror. New glass was ordered and I connected all the parts back together. I believe I have everything in the correct place inside and the mirror snapped back into place, but the tension is not there. The mirror is very loose, and I cannot get it to tighten up.
The white bracket that connect to the new glass and snaps into the white motor is the part that I cannot get to tighten up. Do I need to add glue to this portion of the mirror?
Having problem when driving on the highway? Today I noticed the side view mirror glass shakes and moves quite a bit, while the passenger mirror appears to be rock solid. Any easy fix? I have 15k on the car - would this be something covered by warranty? 2013

View 15 RepliesI have recently bought a MK VI Golf and my brother hit a metal bin while he was trying it out. This cracked the indicator lens and the indicator is broken. I'm trying to replace the bottom housing which is stuck with the indicator, however I can only find videos on removing the upper cap or removing the actual mirror. Smashed out my driver's side window and took it. Now to replace that window. I did manage to find a replacement window.
Pulled off the door panel and now I'm trying to install the glass. Anything I try though, I can't seem to get the glass back into the tracks. Does anything inside the door need to be removed before I can install the glass back into the tracks? Such as the window motor/regulator assembly? On the left side of the drivers door towards the bottom, there is also another small alignment track. Does this need to be removed as well?
I have a small single car garage, and all the vehicles that I have parked in here including an suv, I have never clipped my mirror. However, i recently did so with the Phaeton. Not sure what the proper name for the part is, but it is the clear plastic signal cover that has broken in half. the light still illuminates properly, but the cover is broken. What is the part that I need to order so that I can replace?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2009 Honda Civic with powered retractable side view mirrors. Unfortunately one of the mirrors is broken and is perpetually trying to retract (or unfold). Aside from the motor constantly running the mirror functions fine. I looked into replacing the mirror assembly with a new replacement part but noticed that none of the replacement parts feature a blinker on the front cover of the assembly, as the original does. I assume that the wiring is not present in the replacement part so swapping in the old cover would not be sufficient.
Is the scrap yard route for finding a replacement part my best option? Is there an easy way to disable the motor without disabling the other features (the blinker and power tilt adjustment)?
The clear cover on the directional signal on the right rear view mirror was smashed in a parking lot. I have purchased the replacement part but am looking for instructions as to how to replace it.

Tried to search the net for a replacement mirror and not having much luck. In locating one. I found one site but they do not carry the painted version of the mirror just the mat-plastic finish.

View 2 RepliesMy daughter backed out of our garage and clipped the passenger side mirror assembly on our brand new 2017 Santa Fe. The casing on the assembly is broken where it hit our garage door track, but the camera, etc. works fine. I was quoted over 900 bucks to replace this part - 87620 4Z500 - and I'm assuming that is a quote for ALL of the parts of that assembly (guts and all). Everything works, and we'd just like to purchase the plastic casing, have it color matched and DIY. Is there anyway to do that?
