Just purchased a brand new 2012 GTI Autobahn. I can't notice the AFS headlights swivel left to right at slow speeds but at start up seems to work when I turn on the headlights. Is this normal? I had the dealer check it and they said it works fine. They tested it through their laptop and it works but I can't seem to notice the swivel when I steer the wheel.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2012 gti with 29k miles. Now I changed to coil overs for a shot amount of time however I shortly went back to stock for comfort. For the past few thousand miles I have been getting this creaking sound when turning left parked or slow speeds. I thought it might be strut mounts but its only left and isn't a clunking. I have three videos of the sounds so you can see what I'm talking about. I have heard of the infamous cv boot problem but if you look at the last video you can see the Cv boot looks in good shape..

I have a 2003 Jetta Wagon with 49000 miles on it. I noticed that when turning at slow speeds (like taking turns in a parking lot) I hear a klunk coming from the area of the left front wheel, and I think I feel it through the steering wheel. Yesterday I was going around a hairpin turn at a shopping mall and heard two clunks. Driving straight it doesn't happen.

View 7 RepliesSo... Took my car into a tire shop (tire pros) to get a screw pulled out of my front left tire... And after they finish the job - the guy comes up to me and says "your front brakes don't have much life left." I said, "I know I'm planning to change them in the next couple of weeks"...
He then said, "well I think your sensor just went off, when I pulled the car around.." I said "okay", got in the car and drove off - no brake light what so ever.
Anyways, A few hours later when pulling my car around the corner on the way home - I noticed that I am all of the sudden getting a random scraping sound from the front-right rotor anytime I turn the well all the way to the left at slow speeds...
I'm not too worried about it - just want to make sure these guys aren't trying to sabotage my car! The only thing that kills me, is that I didn't have the sound before and no all of the sudden I do? I'm assuming they somehow slightly moved the pad, causing it to somehow squeal - I'm just not exactly sure what they did...
Purchased one owner Prius from Honda dealer May 2014 with 92000 miles.Now 2 months later 94000. Both service departments of Honda and a Toyota dealer said my car handles normally for a Prius.The car dips from left to right while driving at slow and highway speeds. It feels like a boat moving through water. The suspension was said to be good.Driving it feels unstable, like a Montero Sport or a stage coach. I wanted to do a lot of driving this summer, but this feels so uncomfortable.

View 2 RepliesI have an 02 Jetta 1.8t automatic with about 140k miles. It has always been a great car. Last week, I was taking off from being stopped at a light and I heard a loud beep and saw that my oil pressure warning light was blinking! It blinked 3 times and then was gone, now last week temperatures were very low for my area. Today was actually pretty warm and sunny. I was stuck in gridlock traffic, it took me 25 minutes to go 1/4 mile. Idle, Idle, creep forward... Idle, Idle, creep forward...etc.
I noticed that the temp gauge read over 200, not in the red, but too close for my liking. Then a moment later when it was time for me to move up a bit, there was a beep and then that low oil pressure light again, 3 blinks and gone. I was panicked. I shut my engine off while I waited for traffic to move and when I would move forward it was the same thing. I finally pulled over, as I was stuck in traffic about 1000 feet from a friends house. I stayed there for 4 hours and then decided to fire her up again. Totally normal.
40 Minutes later as I rolled into my driveway, boom there was that light blink again... I am really concerned but confused by the light not staying on continuously and not having the check engine or any other warning light ever come on. It's weird to me that when this happens I am either taking off or coming to a stop, never going more than 5mph.
Installed ST coilovers at 2200 miles, my only suspension mod. When I'm backing up or going at really slow speeds and turning there is a very annoying creaking/grinding noise. I've taken everything apart and looked at it again to no avail. Anything I should be looking for in specific?Could it be from over-tightening? Just thought I'd ask here before I take it to a shop.
View 3 RepliesI've recently been having a metallic creaking/rattle go on when idle or moving at slow speeds. I took it in during my 20k service and they said there was something with a cable and the heat shield... the service manager had also said something about the catlytic converter - but when I re-checked the service slip - nothing. This was originally in March.
The noise came back again recently so I had a different dealer check it out when I finally had the fuel tank recall done. They confirmed the noise and checked the heat shield (I had told them about the original complaint), but said there wasn't much that can be done - they made sure all the bolts were tight, but the noise was coming from the heat shield "flexing."
Most of the time it's fine and the noise went away for several months. It's subtle again, but if it becomes constant - it seems like I have a valid argument to have the heat shield replaced - seems defective.
I have a 03 mkIV 2.0 with just over 106k miles. I have been noticing a sqeak/creaking noise coming from the front end usually at slow speeds and going over small bumps or even bad backroads. I can simply push down on the front of the car and hear it and it sounds just terrible. I took it to my local tire shop and they said it could be my sway bay links and bushings, but they look brand new and show no signs of deterioration. My struts and shocks are fine. Could it be ball joints or control arms?
View 6 RepliesJust had a hub get stripped a few weeks back and had to replace the whole hub assembly. Now just a few weeks later, I started developing this strange rubbing, almost scraping sound when backing of the garage in reverse and the diving speeds of like 5-10 mph. It has to be wheel related becuase the sound goes in and out as the wheel goes around.
Put the car up on jack stands , checked fender plastic underneath the wheel wells, dchecked the dust sheild on the rotors, checked the tires out, even spun the rotor around with my hand and I couldn't replicate the sound?
Just Started about 5 days ago and was only noticeable at slow speeds every other day, then today it seemed worse and I can almost hear it when driving 25-35 mph and I'm also starting to feel it in the steering and body of the car as a vibration.
I just want to get this car back running smooth... Just put new suspension on as well, new strut bearings, but I had to reuse the strut mounts because the dealership was out of mounts. Don't think the suspension has anything to do with it, but you never know. How to upload a video... I can see if I can somehow record the sound.
I have the same clunk others have suggested may be strut mounts or something. It only happens when I'm turning hard left and going slow. it may happen only when I'm going slow because it's the only time i turn the wheel that much. it's not too loud and sounds like it's coming from the right front wheel well, somewhere around there.
It started about 3 days ago and is getting much more frequent in the last day. It now is happening every time i turn the wheel hard left, and occasionally when I turn right.I have a loose bumper right front also. it's going into the body shop next week to further diagnose by elimination.
QUESTION: is the car safe to drive if there's the possibility of a loose strut mount? i don't know too much about the suspension assembly.
I have this subtle creaking noise while steering to the left at low speeds, i.e. getting in/out of a parking spot. I have H&R Street coils and haven't had this problem until recently. I brought it into a mod-friendly dealer and they said it's the factory sway bar rubbing up against the coil-overs. They recommended going with a compatible H&R front sway bar. Are they positioned differently? Maybe I'm missing something.

View 5 RepliesSo yet I found out about another common issue but not that publicized. This is the grinding sound when turning at full lock (left or right) in slow speed. I've read several people in the forum who has encountered this. I read different remedies but the most common one is to have the CV boots lubricated.
I have a 2014 Wolfsburg with almost 5k miles. I am really now worrying about my water pump crapping out on me but I heard this grinding sound yesterday.
My front left tire is rubbing to the point where I can feel it in the steering wheel slightly slowing the car down. This happens only going over about 40-50 and only when i turn the steering wheel like an inch to the left. To better clarify it doesn't rub while turning left going down a slope.

Even at slower speeds the experience and effect was scary, its not like an emergency brake or hand brake stop but like chaining a dog to a stationary hook while running. Electronic and mechanical wise, whats happening when you push the "P" parking button. And why the Prius engineers allowed to set engaged other than just absolute stationary?

View 4 RepliesAs of the last few weeks/month or so, my 2010 Tiguan has been feeling like it wobbles under speeds of 30mph. When I first accelerate it feels like it wobbles, once I hit 30mph the wobbling completely stops. Also, when I'm decelerating (even without pressing the brake) it wobbles as it slowly comes to a stop. I'm not sure what it could be and I have seen all types of different reasons. What it could be? I haven't crashed into anything to bend the rim or anything like that.
