I have a 2012 golf tdi, i have noticed that when i go over speed bumps or dips in the road i can hear a creaking from the front end of the car. I only noticed since it has been cold. What this could be?

I'm assuming my Strut Mounts (bushings) and/or Strut Bearings have gone and need to be replaced? As the creaking sound really souds like it could be the rubber bushing buckling?...
I just want to be 100% sure this is my issue before ordering the parts. Need to confirm that this noise I'm hearing is bad mounts or bushings? Or is there something else I should take a look at before ordering the parts?

So, both of my 07' and 13' former GTI's developed that "old wooden ship" noise in the front suspension when it was cold and dry outside. My 13' was far worse than my 07'. It grew to dread going over speed bumps in my 13', it got that bad. I was about to take it to the shop to get that fixed when I decided to just trade it in for the new one instead.

First one I have a creaking in my front suspension when I go over bumps if I'm doing 50+mph it isn't heard anything slower you can hear it especially over speed bumps in parking lots. What could that be exactly? And also I'm looking to upgrade my headunit already got a single din but I'm wanting to replace the factory subwoofer. Can I replace it with a low power 8" aftermarket sub for better sound?

View 6 RepliesI have some noise coming from the front suspension. It is a popping/sorta creaking noise. I hear it mostly when turning, but sometimes while going straight. It is not a grinding sound, nor is it a high pitched sound. I took it to my mechanic, but they drove it and could not replicate the noise. They inspected the front end, and said everything looked fine. But I still hear the noise. The car has a little over 40k miles on it. No problems with the tires...no irregular wear, and no wandering. I looked at the front end, and didn't find anything obvious. I cannot replicate the noise just by pushing on the fenders up and down.

I am recently experiencing some weird squeaking/creaking noises coming from my front suspension.. It manifests whenever I am going over humps faster than usual (or if the humps is not "perfectly sloped"). I seldom experience this during daytime but during nighttime, it is very evident.
this is the list of things that I replaced already:
2x ball joints
2x stabilizer links
2x shock absorbers
2x tie rod
2x rack ends
Did some wheel balancing and wheel alignment already...
I was able to replicate this by parking the car in a slope - parallel to the street with the wheels turned to right or left, and pushing the top fender downwards.
Driving along our streets, highway, and highway curved ramps is flawless.. Could this be bushings on stabilizer bars? or the control arms?
Since Ive got my 2010 Tiguan 2.0 TSI, I hear a creaking noise coming from the front right suspension when riding over uneven pavement. The dealer said it is a common known problem from many Tiguans caused by the engine mount and that VW recommends the change of that part.
The new engine mount is slightly different from the one that is installed in my car. I am still waiting for the part to arrive and to be changed. Meanwhile, I spoke with another 2010 Tiguan owner, here in Brazil, whose car has already received the new part.
He said that the creaking noise has gone but now he feels more vibration coming from the engine and a kind of "diesel-engine-sound" when accelerating... Location of the engine mount: [URL] ....

I assume that the first number is the part number, the last is the manufacturing date and the others are either car model or manufacturer code or anything else. Note that the part number is the same, except by the letter suffix: "G" in the "old" one and "E" in the "new" part. Well, the suffix designation does not make sense for an evolutionary design...
My questions are:
1) Is it a new design or is it a roll back to an older part that does not cause that problem although it was probably modified due to another issue?
2) Is this part number specific for 2.0 TSI engine or is it the same for other engines (petrol/diesel)?
3) Which engine mount have you got on your cars?

There is a loud groaning/creaking noise coming from the front suspension area. At low speeds, this noise dominates all other noises and is directly related to hitting the gas or pressing the brakes, which produces a forward or backward force on the front suspension and chassis. I can sometimes hear it briefly just by pushing against the parked car.
My hope is that I can just tighten up some bolts and make this go away, but other posts suggest it may be struts, stabilizer links or other non-obvious sources.
Okay new sounds suck. I just noticed a strange metal creaking and clicking both when I roll to a stop and afterwards when I take off from a light. The sound is like a suspension sound but I can't put my finger on it. I did install a Neuspeed engine control arm bushing 2 weeks ago ,can that be the weak link. I'm going to get under the car tomorrow and take a look.
View 6 RepliesSo I've had this moaning/creaking noise for the last few weeks that seems to be getting worse and worse. The noise is most noticeable when coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop - once at higher speeds it goes away... but when coming to a stop or slowly accelerating from a stop, the car literally sounds a pirate ship - kind of scared to keep driving without knowing exactly whats going on...
I've completely disassembled and reassembled the rear suspension multiple times and everything is lubricated, tight and proper....
Considering Ive looked at everything in the rear - Is there anyway possible that even though the sound seems to be coming from the rear - that maybe it could just be bad strut bearings or mount in the front? And maybe there is just some funny reason (some sort of audible illusion?) why I seem to be so certain about hearing the sounds from the rear and not the front?
Not sure about hearing a creaking/moaning noise from the rear - only to find out it was actually bad strut mounts or bearings in the front or maybe even bad front LCA bushings? I'm just a little lost and really unsure of what else could be causing this ridiculous noise..
How to diagnose this creaking/clunking noise in my 03 Jetta TDI. It's only coming from the passenger side, and I primarily notice it at low speed on relatively uneven roads. I can replicate the noise by pushing up and down on the front passenger side corner.
For context, this started after I just recently replaced my front and rear suspension, plus some steering parts. I replace all four struts with Koni yellows, front CA bushings (with R32/TT), ball joints, tie rod ends, front strut bushings and bearings, and passenger side CV axle. In response to the noise, I also just did the front sway bar bushings, which definitely needed it, but didn't change the noise. I also removed the CV axle and re-greased the inner CV joint--to no avail.
Also, when I have the hood open and push up and down on the front of the car, I can see the cup where the top strut nut goes into will go up and down separate and apart from the body. The driver's side stays in line with the body when I try to the same on that side. Also, that cup is tight on the passenger side, whereas it will spin fairly freely on the drivers side. So, this has lead me to think that perhaps I didn't torque either or both of the top or inner strut nuts on the passenger side.

So I've noticed in the past 2-3 weeks when I come to a stop I here a creaking sound coming from the Front end, I gotta get someone to stand outside while I stop just to clarify where the creaking is coming from? It only happened when I push down the brakes a little more aggressively to come to a quicker stop, not it's a sound that I shouldn't be hearing that's for sure.
View 3 RepliesDriving 2012 Elantra with 29K on the Meter in AZ with temps at 105 degrees. I am getting a clicking clunking noise. Dealership said Strut mounts and replaced them. Drove it off the lot and the noise was still there. Wont go back to that dealership. Creaking clunking noise more frequently now and has shifted from the passenger side to the driver side predominantly. End links? Axles? Brake assembly, Hub? I first heard it when I went over a speed bump at 3-5 mph. Now it can be heard upon acceleration-deceleration, deceleration in neutral with brake only gets the loudest clunk on the Driver side. Ultimately its now constant on turns, bumps, rough roads & even smooth roads while changing lanes. What is causing this.

In the winter time the front passenger side is very squeaky, esp when going over bumps...
I had it into a shop to have a wheel bearing done and they said the balljoints needed to be replaced...
Well, all that did was firm things up, the ride was just as squeaky...
Now in summer, it's not nearly as bad... First thing in the morning there's some squeak over bumps but nothing like it is in the winter...
What the heck would this be?
I just bought a 2007 2.0T Passat with 25,000 miles. It makes a lot of noice going over bumbs or when front end dives especially when it's cold. Is this a well known topic?
View 11 RepliesI've got a 2006 b6 2.0 with about 92k on it. I bought it Cpo at around 68k 3 years ago this December. My auto tech said I'm going to need a new timing belt in about a month, so once this semester is over in a few weeks I'll be taking it in for that. Anyway, to my questions. My front suspension squeeks quite a bit going over bumps, especially when cold. Is this a sign of bad things to come in the future? Now my brakes, when they get wet they give off a very rough feeling, not very smooth. I have to slam on my brakes to 'wake them up'. Is this telling me they need to be replaced?
View 2 RepliesI have the 2013 Accent with nasty knocking noises from the front. Have the same thing with my 2009. I opened the hood yesterday to fill the washer fluid and noticed I have a gap between the insulator dust cap, body or frame and strut insulator. I can almost poke a pencil through the gap. I am to think this is not normal. I have about 16000 kms on the car.
