Just recently I've noticed my car making a whining noise. I have a 2011w/ DSG, Stage 2 APR w/ DP and K&N Filter. I've researched some cases of the whine coming from intake but using just the K&N I doubt it's that. Plus the noise just started recently and the filter was put on 4k ago. I read somewhere that it's a leak in the exhaust??? What it could be?

I've got 2013 es 350 with 10,000 miles on now. I have recently noticed that there was whining/whirring noise coming from the engine(I guess) while accelerating up to 45 mph. It seems that the noise goes along with the RPM since it gets louder when accelerating. It makes same noise when decelerating from 30 mph and it goes away when the car stops. A friend of mine drove the car once before but did not hear anything until I told him about the noise, so I guess it is not very noticeable to some people. At the 10,000 miles check up at the dealer, I mentioned about it and they said they did not hear anything, but I know for sure there is whirring/whining noise.
View 14 Replies2005 3.5L 105K. I had the timing belt replaced at 70K. Ever since then I get a winning noise in the right front when turning left and accelerating. Does not happen turning right. I took it into another dealer and he said it could be in the power steering. But why turning left and not right? He didn't think it was the CV joint.
I changed the PS reservoir in case it was a clogged screen. That did not work. Now I am getting a rattle sound on the right with the car in D or R when the car is first started, moving slow or not moving. The sound goes away in N. I don't know if these sounds are related or not. What could be causing these sounds?
I have a 2005 accent with a 5 speed, it has about 80,000km on it.... mainly city driving. Lately, once the car is up to temp. as I pull away from a stop the car makes a loud noise and I really need to feather the clutch out. The noise continues after shifting into second gear ,but no other gears. Thus happens under normal acceleration. If I pull away extremely slow the noise isn't there. If I don't feather the clutch the car lurches like I'm just 'dumping' the clutch and driving like someone who is just learning to drive. Sometimes there is also a whining noise in second gear if I am accelerating at a normal pace. Where I should start looking? I am assuming it's the clutch due to the fact that it happens after everything warms up.
View 3 RepliesI just bought a truck, it has a whining noise while accelerating, stops while letting on the gas, does not do it in neutral even if i rev up the engine. Only whines while there is some force on it, ie.. accelerating, or going up a hill at any angle, and does it from about 10-15mph- atleast 60mph.

View 7 RepliesI bought a CPO 2010 Camry LE (2.5 4 cyl, 6 sp auto) a few months ago. The car had around 34K miles when I got it, and ever since then, it has had a high pitched whining noise when accelerating or revving the engine in park. It is noticeable from around 2500RPM up, and seems to be a little louder when the engine is cold.
I have left it at the dealer twice, and both times they have come back and said it is normal. I can't believe this, because I have owned many cars over the years, most of them being fairly dilapidated, yet most of them haven't had a noise like this. I think I have read a comment online somewhere that an issue like this was found due to a bad power steering pump .
I just purchased a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with 126K miles on it and so far it has been okay. The only thing I noticed is a whining noise when I go to accelerate and the other day I went to put the car into reverse on the odometer it did not display what gear I was in nor did it illuminate on the gear shift whether I was in drive or not.
View 2 RepliesSo when I am decelerating, at about 40mph, I hear this whining "power-down" noise...reminds me of when Obi-Wan disables the tractor beam in the original Star Wars. I did not notice it when I bought the car, but it is very evident now. Hasn't changed any though. Not sure if it's normal Sonata noise, tires, transmission, or what. It appears as I slow down at around 40 mph in the video.

I have a 2011 2.5 Camry when cold it makes a whining noise seems to be coming from power steering pump. Looking on the internet it seems this is a Toyota problem. Will I be wasting my time bringing in for service? I hear they say this id normal. It quiets after warm up. Any recalls?
View 7 RepliesWhen I start the cold engine mine makes a loud whining noise. I took it to the Ford dealer and they said that the sound is normal and that it's the turbo's. I think I'll take it to another ford dealership and get a second opinion, The service guy has the same truck as me and his was making the same noise on cold start up and they told him it was the turbo's also. Something's not right about the noise.

I have noticed it makes a swoosh or air sucking noise for a couple of seconds after acceleration and will do it while driving. It is not constant but comes and goes. I have not checked codes. Other than that, really like the truck.
View 2 RepliesI recently acquired a 2014 Sonata Limited 2.4L. Don't know if its me or not but engine noise seems to be excessive in the cabin especially when I am accelerating from a very low speed, almost like something in the engine is loose. Had it at the dealership today for warranty work (seat belt) and recall work and asked the techs to take a listen when the do their inspection. They came back and said that the noise is coming from the electric fuel pump and that it is totally normal. Previous car I had was a 2011 Honda Accord Ex and it seamed quieter.

When I'm on the accelerator it goes away, soon as I take my foot off the gas it starts up. Just cruising and engage clutch goes away as well. Sounds like coming from rear but hard to tell, hear it at low speeds but not as loud.

When in 2nd gear with my foot off the gas between 1-2K RPM, I hear a faint whining sound that gets lower in pitch as the RPMs drop. An example of when this would happen is if I were coming up to a stop sign in a residential area in 2nd gear, coasting to the stop sign. The sound starts a little under 2K RPM.
I don't remember hearing this in 3rd gear and I haven't tried in 1st.
Just today I started hearing a whining noise from the rear that came and went. I wouldn't be worried but it was so loud that the radio could not drowned it out anymore. The noise when away when I gave the car some throttle so I am thinking its the rear diff. It was pouring down rain and I wonder if there was some part of that that could have had an affect.

I picked up my 2013 TTRS about 3 weeks ago now. Man do I love this car! However, about 2 days after I picked the car up I started hearing a really annoying noise coming from somewhere up front in the car. At first I thought I already had a bad wheel bearing, but then realized the noise goes away when I'm off the throttle or decelerating. It's a very irritating rotational whine that increases and decreases frequency based on what speed I'm at. However, it only make the noise when under light throttle inputs for maintaining speed. So if I just hold the car light on the throttle to cruise at say 45mph, it's annoying as all hell. The only way to not get irritated by it is to have the windows open, radio blasting, of AC blasting to overcome the noise.
Audi here in Scottsdale had 5 technicians identify the noise and confirm I'm not crazy. They say they have no idea what it could be. However, they cannot see anything mechanically wrong, and since we can't pinpoint a source, they can't just start digging in for warranty work. Also, since TT-RS's are so limited, they haven't been able to drive another one to see if it makes the same noise. I assume it has to be something that engages when torque is applied, but I'm at a loss where to start. CV joints? I am assuming it's some bearing that compresses in the transmission under power?
Every time I let off the gas there seems to be a strange whooshing/whining noise being emitted from somewhere on my R. I have the flapper plugged and am thinking that it might possibly be that...
View 6 RepliesWhen I drive 60 miles exact constantly with windows closed and radio off, I hear a whine noise coming from the engine. I do not know if it's the engine or the gear shift of the transmission. If I drive over 65 mph or less than 55 mph, there is no whine sound at all. Is this normal?
